Caring to make a difference with vulnerable women: the impact of targeted support on birth-related outcomes and experiences
We report findings from a mixed-methods study to compare
birth outcomes and experiences between vulnerable women
who had or had not received targeted support from a
specialist midwifery team and/or a third-sector organisation. Sociodemographic and birth-related outcome data from a
12-month birth cohort were used to explore differences
between a) vulnerable and non-vulnerable women; and b)
vulnerable women who had and those who had not received
targeted support. Seventeen women who had or had not
received targeted support were interviewed. Vulnerable
mothers were significantly more likely to be younger, from a
minority ethnic group, access care later in pregnancy and
have a baby born earlier and at a lower birth weight. A higher
percentage of women who received targeted support had a
spontaneous birth, a vaginal presentation at birth and were
less likely to use anaesthesia during labour when compared
with unsupported vulnerable women. Targeted support was
associated with reassurance, increased parental confidence
and wellbeing. Key practice and policy-based implications are
considered

Intracellular uptake of macromolecules by brain lymphatic endothelial cells during zebrafish embryonic development
The lymphatic system controls fluid homeostasis and the clearance of macromolecules from interstitial compartments. In mammals brain lymphatics were only recently discovered, with significant implications for physiology and disease. We examined zebrafish for the presence of brain lymphatics and found loosely connected endothelial cells with lymphatic molecular signature covering parts of the brain without forming endothelial tubular structures. These brain lymphatic endothelial cells (BLECs) derive from venous endothelium, are distinct from macrophages, and are sensitive to loss of Vegfc. BLECs endocytose macromolecules in a selective manner, which can be blocked by injection of mannose receptor ligands. This first report on brain lymphatic endothelial cells in a vertebrate embryo identifies cells with unique features, including the uptake of macromolecules at a single cell level. Future studies will address whether this represents an uptake mechanism that is conserved in mammals and how these cells affect functions of the embryonic and adult brain
Negotiating Contested Identities: Palestinian American Identity in Poems by Lisa Suhair Majaj, Naomi Shihab Nye, and Susan Abulhawa
Engelsk mastergradsoppgaveMAHF-LÆFRMPENGLMAHF-ENGZMPHFFAKENG35
Does the Norwegian agricultural education require a change? A comparison of the Norwegian and German education systems
This bachelor compares the Norwegian upper secondary level agricultural education with its German counterpart. Here the objective is to find out whether there is anything we can learn from the German agricultural education to improve our approach here in Norway. The following study questions have been used as a focus:
1. How is the Norwegian agricultural education compared to the German?
2. Is there anything we can learn to improve our agricultural education in Norway?
The study is based on curricula, publications of public inquiries and reports. In addition, various Norwegian and German professionals have been consulted due to their previous or present involvement with the agricultural education
What emerges from the discussion is that the agricultural education in Norway has some significant differences when compared to the German. A closer look at the German model, gives some indications as to what may be improved in Norway. The identified potential for change is to a lesser degree linked to the focus on agricultural theory. First and foremost, the potential for improvement seems to lie in the practical and participatory approach. This indicates that the Norwegian agricultural education should increase its focus on practical work. This can be improved with a combination of early specialization during upper secondary education and the opportunity to do an apprenticeship. combined this may increase the quality of education
Deciphering the heterogeneity of the Lyve1+ perivascular macrophages in the mouse brain
Perivascular macrophages (pvMs) are associated with cerebral vasculature and mediate brain drainage and immune regulation. Here, using reporter mouse models, whole brain and section immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, and single cell RNA sequencing, besides the Lyve1+F4/80+CD206+CX3CR1+ pvMs, we identify a CX3CR1– pvM population that shares phagocytic functions and location. Furthermore, the brain parenchyma vasculature mostly hosts Lyve1+MHCII– pvMs with low to intermediate CD45 expression. Using the double Cx3cr1GFP x Cx3cr1-Cre;RosatdT reporter mice for finer mapping of the lineages, we establish that CD45lowCX3CR1– pvMs are derived from CX3CR1+ precursors and require PU.1 during their ontogeny. In parallel, results from the Cxcr4-CreErt2;Rosa26tdT lineage tracing model support a bone marrow-independent replenishment of all Lyve1+ pvMs in the adult mouse brain. Lastly, flow cytometry and 3D immunofluorescence analysis uncover increased percentage of pvMs following photothrombotic induced stroke. Our results thus show that the parenchymal pvM population is more heterogenous than previously described, and includes a CD45low and CX3CR1– pvM population
Films of Ni, Bi and Ge are evaporated on cooled glass surfaces (90°K) in high vacuum. The quantum yield for the emission of photoelectrons is measured before (disordered film) and after tempering at 298°K (ordered film). The work function [Phi] of the disordered Ni-film is smaller by 0.4 volts than that of the same film in the ordered stage. The activation energy for cristallisation is 803 cal/mol. - The representation of the spectral photoelectric sensitivity of the semiconducting films of Bi and Ge needs two values [Phi]1 and [Phi]2 and two constants M1 and M2 which measure the number of the centers emitting electrons. The variation of these constants with temperature and cristallisation is discussed by the theory of semiconductors

SENTINEL: a semantic business process monitoring tool
Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) aims to support the real-time analysis of business processes in order to improve the speed and effectiveness of business operations. Providing a timely, integrated high-level view on the evolution and well-being of business activities within enterprises constitutes a highly valuable analytical tool for monitoring, managing and hopefully enhancing businesses. However, the degree of automation currently achieved cannot support the level of reactivity and adaptation demanded by businesses. We argue that the fundamental problem is that moving between the business level and the IT level is insufficiently automated and suggest an extensive use of semantic technologies as a solution. In particular, we present SENTINEL a Semantic Business Process Monitoring tool that advances the state of the art in BAM by making extensive use of semantic technologies in order to support the integration and derivation of business level knowledge out of low-level audit trails generated by IT systems
