Assessing Entrepreneurial Intentions of University Students: A Comparative Study of Two Different Cultures: Turkey and Pakistani

    Get PDF
Researchers have been considered about why people prefer to become entrepreneurs. The major aim of this study is to test the cross-cultural generalizability of how well Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) would predict entrepreneurial intention (EI) amongst Turkish and Pakistani University students. The results demonstrated that the relationships among the TPB components are equally intense and comparable across Pakistani and Turkish cultures – the only exception being the relation of social norms with intentions. However, SN would prove its impact on EI through both PA and PBC, but not directly on intention. Keywords: Entrepreneurial Intention, Theory of Planned Behavior, Pakistan, Turke

To remain competitive, organizations seek innovative ideas and solutions from employees. Since employees can give more practical views they often participate by sharing their ideas and by giving opinions often termed as voice. Current study contributes the literature by examining the effect of big five personality traits combined with the psychological antecedents on employees’ voice behavior in Pakistani service sector context. Four independent variables organizational based self-esteem, felt obligation, motivational factors and personality traits were proposed to have a positive relation with dependent variables, promotive and prohibitive voices in the presence of a moderator, psychological safety. Data was collected from 200 employees of the leading insurance sector organization of Pakistan through a survey questionnaire. The results confirmed the hypotheses. Keywords: Voice behavior, self-esteem, motivation, personality traits

Enzymatic method for assaying calcium in serum with Ca++ -ATPase

    Get PDF
A kinetic assay for total calcium in serum was developed which is based on the activation of Ca(++)-ATPase by free Ca(++) [Ca(++)](f) maintained by EGTA in the reaction mixture. The concentration of Ca(++)(f) was dependent on total reference calcium added or serum calcium. Ca(++)-ATPase activity was coupled to the reduction of NADH by pyruvate kinase (PK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and monitored by change in absorbance at 340 nm. The calcium in normal serum was 10.08 +/- 0.24 mg/dl (n = 35) by our method while with o-cresolphthalein complexone (CPC) method, the total calcium in the same 35 serum samples was 10.14 +/- 0.54 mg/dl. The range of within-run coefficient of variations (CVs) by this method was 0.9-2.87% at 8-12 mg/dl and day-to-day CVs were 0.72-3.17%. The presence of other ions and standard clinical interfering agents did not affect this assay system. The correlation between values obtained with our method (y) and CPC method (x) for normal serum was: y = 1.064x-0.580 mg/dl (r = 0.912, n = 59)

مماثلة الشعر الثوري في كلام فيض أحمد فيض و مفدي زكريا: Similarities of the revolutionary poetry in the poetry of Faiz Ahmad Faiz and Mufdi Zakaria

A study of human history reveals that man has been on a journey of evolution from the very beginning. In this evolutionary journey, man has used every means at his disposal to move forward. However, in this journey, the expression of mental imagination and heartfelt emotions has been the greatest support of man.  The journey of human evolution continues even in modern times and it would not be wrong to call the twentieth century the century of revolutions. The end of the Ottoman Empire, the two world wars, many events emerging and disappearing on the world stage, many emerging movements in the Arab world and the Western world, the independence of the Indian subcontinent and many other movements have been characteristic of the twentieth century.  In the middle of the twentieth century, the subcontinent was the center of a similar evolutionary movement. On the one hand, the independence movement was at its peak, on the other hand, the movement of human evolution against social oppression and discrimination was going on, and the writers were also playing their full role in this movement. An emerging name among those writers was Faiz Ahmed Faiz who breathed new life into the progressive revolution through his Urdu poetry. At a time when Faiz Ahmed Faiz's poetry was playing a role in the progressive movement in the subcontinent, the Arab world was enjoying the literary masterpieces of Algerian progressive and revolutionary poet Mufdi Zakaria. In the poetry of Mufdi Zakaria, the revolutionary color is very prominent which is seen in the poetry of Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Even Mufdi Zakaria faced almost all the accusations and hardships that Faiz Ahmed Faiz used to face. He made an effective contribution to literary, political and revolutionary activity. These two people have a lot in common in their poetry. That's why I chose both for my research work. So that people can be introduced to this great literary heritage of Urdu and Arabic language. I hope that this work of mine will prove to be an important milestone in both Urdu and Arabic language literature

Towards autonomy in agriculture: Design and prototyping of a robotic vehicle with seed selector

    Get PDF
Traditional method of seeding by farmers demands laborious work and is now becoming story of the past. Technological revolution in mechatronics and allied areas is reshaping the agricultural processes, making the robots an integral part of this automation. This paper presents design details of an autonomous robot developed keeping in view the constraints imposed by an agricultural field. The novelty of the proposed low-cost indigenously developed modular vehicle lies in design of its seed selector. The simple but efficient mechanism of the single seed selector with extremely low miss rate distinguishes the vehicle from other designs. Hardware details including sensing, actuation, processing and communication modules and software architecture are detailed in the paper. Results of trajectory tracking obtained by implementing the proposed scheme on a mini-robot and functionality of seed selector demonstrate potential of the presented robotic vehicle

The aim of this commentary is to summarize some of the recent articles on biology of human lactate dehydrogenase A (hLDH-A) in normal and cancer cells that support the anticancer therapeutic approach based on hLDH-5 inhibition. Up till now, no suitable drug is known that selectively inhibits hLDH-A and can be used for tumor therapies in the clinics throughout the world. This review thus encourages the academic institutions and pharmaceutical industries in search of specifi c inhibitors for hLDH-
