How to Reduce Motorcycle Theft in Parking at a Manaus Shopping?
According to a survey conducted by the Brazilian Association of Shopping Centers in 2016, every nine days, a mall is robbed in Brazil. Faced with this scenario, shopping malls are increasingly concerned with customer safety, as they sell to consumers the idea of safety, convenience and comfort. In mall X, located in one of the busiest Manaus (Amazon capital in Brazil) city avenues, it was found that expenses with robberies and theft reimbursement in parking areas increased considerably in 2015. Thus, this article aims to propose low cost actions to reduce robberies and theft in the parking areas of this mall with the highest incidence of claims. Data were collected through spreadsheets and reports from the Customer Service System (CSS) and the outsourced contractor to operate the parking service. After data collection and analysis, it was concluded that motorcycle parking is the part of parking most affected by the problem, and possible solutions such as control by labels and helmet locks are suggested, and it is up to the mall managers to choose which of the improvement proposals are more feasible

Brazil is one of the largest producers of ethanol in the world, however, during the process of obtaining ethanol, high quantities of vinasse are generated, on average, for each liter of ethanol produced, 13 liters of this residue is generated. Vinasse has physical and chemical properties that can trigger harmful effects on biota, so there is a growing interest in identifying new technologies for its treatment. The use of microbial fuel cells (CCMs) presents a very high potential, since it can simultaneously promote the treatment of this residue and the biogeneration of electric energy, by converting the available chemical energy in these biodegradable substrates and directly into electricity, by means of the action of electrogenic bacteria adhered to the electrode. In this context, the present study evaluated the use of a double chamber CCM in the treatment of synthetic vinasse. During the operation of this reactor, a maximum power density of 330 mW m-2 and a reduction in chemical oxygen demand (COD) was detected at 58.8% after 28 days. Considering these preliminary results, CCM technology may be considered promising in the treatment of vinasse, however, studies regarding the configuration, type of inoculum and forms of CCM operation are necessary to increase its efficiency.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Primum non nocere e a prevenção quaternária: Revisão sistemática com metanálise / Primum non nocere and quaternary prevention: Systematic review with metanalysis

The roots of Cochlospermum regium, popularly known as “algodãozinho-do-cerrado,” are used for the treatment of genitourinary infections. However, the removal of their subterranean structures results in the death of the plant, and the use of the leaves becomes a viable alternative. Therefore, the antimicrobial activity of Cochlospermum regium leaf’s ethanolic extract and its action on the biofilm formation of microorganisms associated with urinary infection were evaluated. The total phenolic compounds, flavoids, and tannins were quantified using the reagents Folin-Ciocalteu, aluminum chloride, and vanillin, respectively. The antimicrobial activity was evaluated by the broth microdilution method and the effect of the extract in the biofilm treatment was measured by the drop plate method. Cytotoxicity was evaluated by the method based on the reduction of MTS and the mutagenicity by the Ames test. The ethanolic extract of C. regium leaves presented 87.4 mg/EQ of flavonoids, 167.2 mg/EAG of total phenolic compounds, and 21.7 mg/ECA of condensed tannins. It presented reduction of the biofilm formation for E. coli and C. tropicalis and antimicrobial action of 1 mg/mL and 0.5 mg/mL, respectively. The extract showed no cytotoxicity and mutagenicity at the concentrations tested. This study demonstrated that C. regium leaves are a viable option for the treatment of genitourinary infections and for the species preservation
