Não sou boy, só não sou otário : negócios, diversão e prestígio nos mercados pop periféricos

Tese (doutorado)—Universidade de Brasília, Instituto de Ciências Sociais, Departamento de Sociologia, 2018.O trabalho tem por objetivo caracterizar alguns processos contemporâneos de expansão e complexificação das redes de produção cultural fomentadas por diferentes populações periféricas no Brasil, com foco direcionado ao mercado musical. A partir da investigação de contextos festivos e conteúdos musicais, majoritariamente produzidos, distribuídos e consumidos por jovens moradores de periferias urbanas do país, o interesse recai nas formas como a triangulação entre as dimensões dos negócios, os modos de diversão e as dinâmicas de prestígio se articulam no delineamento de extensas tramas de interdependências humanas, que dão forma aos pujantes mercados do entretenimento pop periférico nacional. Esses mercados e expressões culturais são entendidos enquanto simultaneamente pop, por visarem o alcance de públicos amplos e manifestarem abertos objetivos comerciais, e periféricos, do ponto de vista geográfico, por emergirem a partir de contextos periféricos urbanos, e do ponto de vista simbólico, por ocuparem, em geral, posições periferizadas em relação a um conjunto de critérios de julgamento e avaliação cultural acionados por diferentes segmentos da população e determinadas instâncias de consagração cultural, no contexto brasileiro. Serão investigadas específicas dinâmicas processadas nas últimas décadas, respectivas à vertiginosa expansão desses mercados, potencializadas por diferentes usos de uma série de recursos tecnológicos digitais de produção e distribuição musical em diferentes contextos periféricos. Se tentará compreender as condições de posicionamento da música pop brasileira no contexto global e alguns processos socio-histórico de construção das dinâmicas de prestígio musical no contexto brasileiro, bem como se processará a tentativa de delinear nuances conceituais e diferentes caracterizações sociais no recurso ao “periférico”, tematizando diferentes trânsitos entre as posições “centrais” e “periféricas” no contexto do mercado musical brasileiro, tornando fundamentais discussões em torno de questões de gênero, raça e diversidade sexual, decisivas no que tange às configurações contemporâneas dos trânsitos e redes interperiféricas de produção, distribuição e consumo musical.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES).The main objective of this research is to characterize contemporary processes of expansion and complexification of cultural production networks supported by different peripheral populations in Brazil, focusing on the music market. It explores festive contexts and musical contents mostly produced, distributed and consumed by young people living in urban peripheries of the country. More specifically, the thesis examines how the triangulation between business, entertainment and prestige is linked to the formation of human interdependences, which shaped the growing markets of national peripheral pop entertainment. These markets and cultural expressions are here understood as being simultaneously: pop, as they intend to reach broad audiences and have an openly commercial objective; and peripheral, considering its geographical emergence in urban peripheral context and its symbolic position in the evaluation criteria of major instances of cultural consecration in Brazil. Therefore, the research investigates specific dynamics in the last decades, considering the vertiginous expansion of these markets, mainly potentiated by different uses of digital technologies of musical production and distribution. Finally, it tries to comprehend the conditions of Brazilian pop music in the global context and the historical processes which construct musical prestige in Brazil, and at the same time it attempts to delineate nuances in the “capturing” of the peripheral, revealing different transits between the “central” and “peripheral” positions of the Brazilian music market - what addresses fundamental discussions about gender, race and sexual diversity issues - in the contemporary configuration of inter-peripheral networks of musical production, distribution and consumption

LUKÁCS, SOCIALISMO E DEMOCRACIA: COMENTÁRIOS CRÍTICOS

Partindo da constatação de que Marx pouco tratou sobre a construção do metabolismo social que deve ser instituído a partir da superação da sociedade capitalista, e da constatação do fracasso das formações pós-capitalistas do capital (o chamado socialismo real), acreditamos ser tarefa importante resgatar contribuições de autores marxistas sobre o tema. Faremos uma tentativa de esboçar a posição de Lukács, expressa no ensaio “O Processo de Democratização” escrito em 1968, sobre a política e a democracia no quadro de luta pela auto-reforma do socialismo realmente existente. Nossa ideia é apontar a forma de apreensão dessas categorias e, ao mesmo tempo, sinalizar as dificuldades teóricas que o autor apresenta

Entre garotos e suas equipes : consumo tecnocultural e dinamicidade ético-estética na cena black brasiliense

Dissertação (mestrado)—Universidade de Brasília, Instituto de Ciências Sociais, Departamento de Sociologia, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia, 2012.Este trabalho tem por objetivo a compreensão de específicos processos transitados entre os anos setenta, oitenta e noventa relativos às manifestações culturais identificadas à música popular negra norte-americana, ou black music, no contexto da cidade de Brasília. Tomando por base metodológica um modelo de análise configuracional, interessa-nos a articulação interdependente entre dinâmicas de caráter técnico e redefinições nos protocolos éticos de consumo de bens tecnoculturais, produção e participações de eventos black, redefinições estas, tomadas enquanto indissociáveis de outro conjunto de transformações no que diz respeito ao plano das estéticas black, sobretudo musicais, em circulação no contexto investigado. Com base nos recursos técnicos da observação participante e da entrevista não estruturada, foi dada especial atenção neste processo de pesquisa à interlocução com os produtores culturais, Disc Jockeys (DJs) e donos de equipes de sonorização participantes de diferentes momentos do conjunto de expressões que dão corpo às tramas sociais às quais nos referimos por cena black brasiliense ou candanga, na exata medida em que estes interlocutores dispõe de posições e saberes privilegiados relativos às distintas formas de articulação entre dinâmicas de caráter técnico e novas possibilidades de vivências, ou expressões ético-estéticas relacionadas à black music em Brasília entre as décadas de setenta, oitenta e noventa do século XX. Busca-se assim, construir um processo narrativo em que se articulem as falas de diferentes interlocutores, autores e do próprio pesquisador na compreensão de alguns dos processos que levariam a região metropolitana do Distrito Federal a constituir, no plano nacional, um dos principais mercados de produção e consumo de estéticas black, tais como o rap e o funk. ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis work aims at understanding specific cases carried over from the seventies, eighties and nineties relating to cultural events identified to popular American black music, in the context of the city of Brasilia. Based on a methodological model of configurational analysis, we are interested in the interdependent dynamics between technical and ethical protocols resets in consumption of technocultural goods, production and participation of black music events. It is important to understand these redefinitions, taken as inseparable from another set of transformations with respect to the plane of black aesthetic, especially the expressions related to musical circulating in the context investigated. Based on the social science techniques of participant observation and unstructured interview, was given special attention in this research process to dialogue with cultural producers, Disc Jockeys (DJs) and owners of sound systems that participated from different moments of the set of expressions that give the social body frames which we refer to black brasiliense scene. In this research process these partners have privileged positions and knowledge regarding about the various forms of dynamic articulation of technical possibilities and new experiences, or ethical-aesthetic expressions related to black music in Brasilia between the seventies, eighties and nineties of the twentieth century. The aim is thus to construct a narrative process in which are articulated the speech of different speakers, authors and of the researcher in a effort to comprehend some of the processes that transformed the metropolitan area of Distrito Federal, in one of the main markets, at the national level, of production and consumption of black aesthetics, such as rap and funk

Trabalho, objetivação e alienação na Ontologia do ser social de Lukács: notas introdutórias

O artigo busca apresentar as categorias trabalho, objetivação e alienação tal como surgem em Para uma Ontologia do Ser Social. Esse conjunto constitui um dos principais núcleos estruturantes da obra de Lukács e é decisivo para a compreensão das categorias reificação e estranhamento. A ontologia materialista de Lukács opera com categorias universais/gerais; a análise de formações sociais específicas exige a intensificação categorial, o aumento de mediações especificadoras de cada categoria, de modo a aproximá-las das suas formas de aparecimento. A elucidação da centralidade do estranhamento autoproduzido pela reificação da mercadoria pressupõe adequada compreensão das referidas categorias

Poulantzas e a teoria crítica do valor: críticas à ontologia presente em As classes sociais no capitalismo de hoje

Resumo Poulantzas é um autor incontornável para o entendimento da categoria Estado moderno no campo marxista. Há em sua obra diferenças existentes, reconhecidas pelo próprio autor, entre suas primeiras produções teóricas e seu último trabalho – Estado, poder e socialismo. O presente artigo procura esboçar algumas críticas à figuração de mundo (ontologia) de Poulantzas, expostas na obra As classes sociais no capitalismo hoje. Para isso explora as possibilidades de diálogo entre este trabalho e a teoria crítica do valor, tomando por referência, em particular, a leitura da teoria do valor de Marx feita por Moishe Postone. O foco da crítica são as categorias capital, Estado, classes sociais e luta de classes

Dominação Abstrata. Capital: Sujeito Histórico

O artigo, recorrendo às abordagens de Postone, Chasin e Lukács, sustenta que Marx, ao instaurar sua crítica ontológica da economia política a partir de 1857-58, modifica sua compreensão da categoria substância – herdada de Hegel – e, por decorrência, altera seu entendimento do sujeito histórico – sujeito-objeto idêntico. Se até esse momento o pobre, o miserável, o desamparado, o sofredor, em uma palavra o proletário, era entendido como o sujeito-objeto idêntico, o sujeito da história; a partir constituição do giro ontológico registrado já nos Grundrisse e consolidado no Livro Primeiro de O Capital, o sujeito-objeto idêntico, o sujeito da história é a substância automovente – o capital. 

Malignancy rates for Bethesda III subcategories in thyroid fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB)

OBJECTIVES: Most thyroid diseases are nodular and have been investigated using ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB), the reports of which are standardized by the Bethesda System. Bethesda category III represents a heterogeneous group in terms of lesion characteristics and the malignancy rates reported in the literature. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the differences in the malignancy rates among Bethesda III subcategories. METHODS: Data from 1,479 patients who had thyroid surgery were reviewed. In total, 1,093 patients (89.6% female, mean age 52.7 (13-89) years) were included, and 386 patients were excluded. FNAB results (based on Bethesda Class) and histopathological results (benign or malignant) for coincident areas were collected. Bethesda III patients were subcategorized according to cytopathological characteristics (FLUS: follicular lesion of undetermined significance, Bethesda IIIA; AUS: atypia of undetermined significance, Bethesda IIIB). Data were correlated to obtain the malignancy rates for each Bethesda category and the newly defined subcategory. RESULTS: FNAB results for these patients were as follows: Bethesda I: 3.1%; Bethesda II: 18.6%; Bethesda III: 35.0%; Bethesda IV: 22.1%; Bethesda V: 4.1%; and Bethesda VI: 17.1%. Incidental thyroid carcinoma: Correlation between FNAB cytology and pathological examination in 1093 cases

Objective: To investigate Incidental Thyroid Carcinoma (ITC) by comparing the results of Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy (FNAB) cytology and the postoperative pathological findings. Methods: Data of 1479 patients who underwent total thyroidectomy were retrieved. Three hundred eighty-six patients were excluded due to insufficient data. Each surgical specimen studied received two histopathological diagnoses: the local diagnosis ‒ for the same area in which the FNAB was performed; and the final diagnosis, which includes a study of the entire surgical specimen. Results: A thousand and ninety-three patients were investigated. FNAB result was malignant in 187 patients, benign in 204, suspicious or indeterminate in 668 cases, and inconclusive in 34 cases. The prevalence of ITC was 15.1%. Most of the ITC in this series was less than 0.5 cm. The incidence of ITC was higher in Bethesda III (17.5% ITC) and IV (19% ITC) than in Bethesda II cases (1.5% false negatives and 9% ITC). Conclusion: Although the incidence of false-negative results in Bethesda II nodules is only 1.5%, 9% of these patients had ITC in the thyroid parenchyma outside the nodule that underwent preoperative FNAB. The incidence of ITC in the same scenario was even higher in Bethesda III (17.5%) and Bethesda IV cases (19%). Ultrasonography-guided FNAB is an excellent method for the assessment of thyroid nodules. However, biopsy sites should be carefully selected. Despite the high incidence of incidentalomas, total thyroidectomy should not always be the treatment of choice due to its rare but potentially serious complications. The findings of the present study can assist future clinical decisions towards active surveillance strategies for the management of papillary thyroid carcinoma

Vocal fold mobility alteration reversed after thyroidectomy

The involvement of the inferior or recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) in mobility derangement of the vocal folds occurs more frequently due to thyroid malignancy invasion. Although uncommon, the same derangement, which is caused by benign thyroid entities, is also described and reverts to normality after a thyroidectomy in up to 89% of cases. In these cases, the pathogenesis of the vocal cord mobility disturbance is attributed to the direct compression of the RLN by massive thyroid enlargement. The authors describe three cases of patients presenting unilateral vocal cord palsy, which, before surgery, was diagnosed by laryngoscopy concomitantly with large and compressive goiter. Vocal fold mobility became normal after the thyroidectomy in all three cases. Therefore, it is noteworthy that these alterations may present reversibility after appropriate surgical treatment. An early surgical approach is recommended to reduce the nerve injury as much as possible; to preserve the integrity of both RLNs since the nerve function will be restored in some patient
