    O IMPACTO DA ORIENTAÇÃO PARA A INOVAÇÃO NA RELAÇÃO ENTRE CAPITAL INTELECTUAL E DESEMPENHO ORGANIZACIONAL

    Purpose: This research aims to analyze the mediating role of innovation orientation in the relationship between intellectual capital and organizational performance of companies in Brazil.   Method/approach: To achieve the objective, a survey-type quantitative research was carried out with a sample of 517 respondents who work in large companies in Brazil. For data collection, this research used scales already validated in previous studies, such as intellectual capacity, innovation orientation and organizational performance. Data were analyzed using mediated regression.   Main findings: The findings demonstrated that there is a significant relationship between intellectual capital and organizational performance. The moderation of innovation orientation increases the explanatory power of the relationship between the independent and dependent variable.   Theoretical, practical/social contributions: Managers must be aware that by encouraging greater intellectual capacity in their employees, they are contributing to better organizational performance. Additionally, adopting innovation practices within companies increases the strength of the relationship between intellectual capital and organizational performance.   Originality/relevance: There is a theoretical void proving the importance of orientation towards innovation in studies on intellectual capital. This study proves the thesis that Brazilian companies need to invest in innovation to obtain better performance.Objetivo: Essa pesquisa tem como propósito analisar o papel mediador da orientação para a inovação na relação entre o capital intelectual e o desempenho organizacional de empresas no Brasil. Método/abordagem: Para atingir o objetivo, foi realizada uma pesquisa quantitativa do tipo survey com uma amostra de 517 respondentes que trabalham em empresas de grande porte no Brasil. Para a coleta de dados, a presente pesquisa utilizou escalas já validadas em estudos anteriores, como capacidade intelectual, orientação para a inovação e desempenho organizacional. Os dados foram analisados por meio da regressão mediada. Principais Resultados: Os achados demonstraram que há relação significativa entre capital intelectual e desempenho organizacional. A moderação da orientação para a inovação aumenta o poder de explicação da relação entre a variável independente e dependente. Contribuições teóricas/práticas/sociais: Gestores devem estar cientes que ao incentivar uma maior capacidade intelectual de seus colaboradores, eles estão contribuindo para um melhor desempenho organizacional. Adotar práticas de inovação dentro das empresas aumenta a força da relação entre capital intelectual e desempenho organizacional. Ademais, governos devem fortalecer os seus Sistemas Nacionais de Negócios para que as empresas tenham condições de crescimento e inovação.     Physics case for an LHCb Upgrade II - Opportunities in flavour physics, and beyond, in the HL-LHC era

    The LHCb Upgrade II will fully exploit the flavour-physics opportunities of the HL-LHC, and study additional physics topics that take advantage of the forward acceptance of the LHCb spectrometer. The LHCb Upgrade I will begin operation in 2020. Consolidation will occur, and modest enhancements of the Upgrade I detector will be installed, in Long Shutdown 3 of the LHC (2025) and these are discussed here. The main Upgrade II detector will be installed in long shutdown 4 of the LHC (2030) and will build on the strengths of the current LHCb experiment and the Upgrade I. It will operate at a luminosity up to 2×1034 cm−2s−1, ten times that of the Upgrade I detector. New detector components will improve the intrinsic performance of the experiment in certain key areas. An Expression Of Interest proposing Upgrade II was submitted in February 2017. The physics case for the Upgrade II is presented here in more depth. CP-violating phases will be measured with precisions unattainable at any other envisaged facility. The experiment will probe b → sl+l−and b → dl+l− transitions in both muon and electron decays in modes not accessible at Upgrade I. Minimal flavour violation will be tested with a precision measurement of the ratio of B(B0 → μ+μ−)/B(Bs → μ+μ−). Probing charm CP violation at the 10−5 level may result in its long sought discovery. Major advances in hadron spectroscopy will be possible, which will be powerful probes of low energy QCD. Upgrade II potentially will have the highest sensitivity of all the LHC experiments on the Higgs to charm-quark couplings. Generically, the new physics mass scale probed, for fixed couplings, will almost double compared with the pre-HL-LHC era; this extended reach for flavour physics is similar to that which would be achieved by the HE-LHC proposal for the energy frontier

    LHCb upgrade software and computing : technical design report

    This document reports the Research and Development activities that are carried out in the software and computing domains in view of the upgrade of the LHCb experiment. The implementation of a full software trigger implies major changes in the core software framework, in the event data model, and in the reconstruction algorithms. The increase of the data volumes for both real and simulated datasets requires a corresponding scaling of the distributed computing infrastructure. An implementation plan in both domains is presented, together with a risk assessment analysis

    Este trabalho de extensão se propôs a evidenciar os riscos em canteiros de obras na cidade de Cajazeiras na Paraíba e promover noções sobre saúde e segurança do trabalho para operários da construção civil, contribuindo assim para a qualidade de vida neste ambiente de trabalho. No decorrer das atividades foram realizadas visitas em canteiros de obras, realização de palestras acerca dos problemas específicos deste tipo de ambiente de trabalho e distribuição de uma cartilha elaborada durante a execução do projeto, na qual contém noções de saúde e segurança no trabalho com base nas Normas Regulamentadoras (NR’s). Foram detectados alguns problemas nos locais visitados, tais como: periferias abertas, risco de queda em poço de elevador, e de queda de materiais, escada sem apoio adequado, andaime sem travamento adequado e fechamento de suas extremidades; além de evidenciar o descaso na utilização de EPI’s. Entendendo que a conscientização dos trabalhadores é fundamental para redução do índice de acidentes na construção civil, consideramos que o desenvolvimento do projeto trouxe grandes benefícios, tendo em vista, que a disseminação de informações dadas nos canteiros de obras, contribuíram para que os trabalhadores reconhecessem as suas responsabilidades no que concerne à adoção de boas práticas de segurança no trabalho

    Observation of a new Ξb\Xi_b^- resonance

    International audienceFrom samples of pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at s=7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 1.0, 2.0 and 1.5  fb-1, respectively, a peak in both the Λb0K- and Ξb0π- invariant mass spectra is observed. In the quark model, radially and orbitally excited Ξb- resonances with quark content bds are expected. Referring to this peak as Ξb(6227)-, the mass and natural width are measured to be mΞb(6227)-=6226.9±2.0±0.3±0.2  MeV/c2 and ΓΞb(6227)-=18.1±5.4±1.8  MeV/c2, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third, on mΞb(6227)-, is due to the knowledge of the Λb0 baryon mass. Relative production rates of the Ξb(6227)-→Λb0K- and Ξb(6227)-→Ξb0π- decays are also reported

    International audienceThe first observation of the Bs0→D¯*0ϕ decay is reported, with a significance of more than seven standard deviations, from an analysis of pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3  fb-1, collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The branching fraction is measured relative to that of the topologically similar decay B0→D¯0π+π- and is found to be B(Bs0→D¯*0ϕ)=(3.7±0.5±0.3±0.2)×10-5, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third from the branching fraction of the B0→D¯0π+π- decay. The fraction of longitudinal polarization in this decay is measured to be fL=(73±15±4)%. The most precise determination of the branching fraction for the Bs0→D¯0ϕ decay is also obtained, B(Bs0→D¯0ϕ)=(3.0±0.3±0.2±0.2)×10-5. An upper limit, B(B0→D¯0ϕ)<2.0 (2.3)×10-6 at 90% (95%) confidence level is set. A constraint on the ω-ϕ mixing angle δ is set at |δ|<5.2° (5.5°) at 90% (95%) confidence level

    International audienceThe first observation of the Bs0→D¯0K+K- decay is reported, together with the most precise branching fraction measurement of the mode B0→D¯0K+K-. The results are obtained from an analysis of pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0  fb-1. The data were collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The branching fraction of the B0→D¯0K+K- decay is measured relative to that of the decay B0→D¯0π+π- to be B(B0→D¯0K+K-)B(B0→D¯0π+π-)=(6.9±0.4±0.3)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The measured branching fraction of the Bs0→D¯0K+K- decay mode relative to that of the corresponding B0 decay is B(Bs0→D¯0K+K-)B(B0→D¯0K+K-)=(93.0±8.9±6.9)%. Using the known branching fraction of B0→D¯0π+π-, the values of B(B0→D¯0K+K-)=(6.1±0.4±0.3±0.3)×10-5 and B(Bs0→D¯0K+K-)=(5.7±0.5±0.4±0.5)×10-5 are obtained, where the third uncertainties arise from the branching fraction of the decay modes B0→D¯0π+π- and B0→D¯0K+K-, respectively

    First Measurement of Charm Production in its Fixed-Target Configuration at the LHC

    International audienceThe first measurement of heavy-flavor production by the LHCb experiment in its fixed-target mode is presented. The production of J/ψ and D0 mesons is studied with beams of protons of different energies colliding with gaseous targets of helium and argon with nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energies of sNN=86.6 and 110.4 GeV, respectively. The J/ψ and D0 production cross sections in pHe collisions in the rapidity range [2, 4.6] are found to be σJ/ψ=652±33(stat)±42(syst)   nb/nucleon and σD0=80.8±2.4(stat)±6.3(syst)  μb/nucleon, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. No evidence for a substantial intrinsic charm content of the nucleon is observed in the large Bjorken-x region
