Determinants of dental care utilization by the adult population in Buenos Aires

Objective: To establish the frequency with which the general population is seen by a dentist and the variables associated with the lack of regular dental check-ups. Methods: A cross-sectional study with a descriptive and analytical phase conducted in an urban community in Argentina. A sample population was obtained by stratified method. Socioeconomic conditions (measure by UBN index), health, health coverage, level of education and location of the households with respect to the dental clinics were all taken into consideration in selecting the sample. We performed a uni-and multivariate analysis. The statistical software used was SPSS 9.0 for Windows and EpiInfo6 Version 6.0. Results: We observed significant associations between the lack of dental care and poverty levels, presence of UBN, living in the suburbs or at a remote distance from dental clinics, and the lack of health insurance. However, in a multiple regression analysis, only the geographical and socioeconomic characteristics of the respondents and their households had statistical significance. Conclusion: The section of the community that is less likely to visit their dentist regularly are those with higher socio-economic risk. Having health insurance or having a dental clinic close to home does not ensure more frequent check-ups. Given that, as demonstrated in this work, spontaneous demand for attention is extremely low, public policies should aim to include this vulnerable population in preventive and scheduled care

Recursos d'e-learning per a l'aprenentatge complementari

Actualment, el XXXXX% dels joves de l'estat espanyol, tenen ordinador amb Internet a casa(segons enquestes del INE) i la tendència habitual quan fan deures o estudien és a buscar els dubtes per Internet. Per aquesta raó és important que hi hagi un sistema que els permeti trobar les respostes adequades amb facilitat. El treball planteja com es podria dur a terme la realització de material complementari, que via Internet, servis per resoldre dubtes des de casa. Començant pel context pedagògic, és necessari que tot allò que es vol transmetre, és a dir els conceptes que generen dubte, cal que formi part d'una estructura ben definida. El resultat final ha de respondre als dubtes dels alumnes, basant-se en una programació de curs, en les seves unitats didàctiques i els diferents conceptes que es treballen. I partint d'aquesta base, cal preguntar als alumnes, per poder descobrir quins són els conceptes més problemàtics i per tant susceptibles de ser resolts. Pel que fa als recursos d'e-learning, s'ha fet un estudi de diverses possibilitats, des de documents PDF, a vídeos, passant pels jocs online. Finalment s'ha triat el vídeo, per la seva capacitat de captar l'atenció, la seva popularitat en l'ús entre els alumnes i la seva facilitat de creació. A més a més els vídeos tenen la capacitat de ser subtitulats i per tant adaptats per a alumnes amb discapacitat auditiva o traduïts a altres llengües. També s'ha tingut en compte com hauria de ser un vídeo amb aquest propòsit, és a dir quina seria la seva durada, el seu possible guió, el material necessari i allò que mostrem i com o fem. Tenint en compte que seria molt útil que el vídeo inclogués unes preguntes d'autoavaluació. Per últim, s'han creat dos vídeos sobre el concepte dels circuits en sèrie i paral·lel, un dels conceptes, que segons una enquesta feta en un IES, genera dubtes. Els vídeos són dos que es complementen; primer explica els circuits en sèrie i paral·lel i el segon els circuits combinats i proposa unes preguntes. S'han fet dos vídeos, perquè en fer la gravació, es va notar que un sol vídeo seria massa llarg i no s'ajustaria a les pautes descrites al treball. Una de les conclusions principals és que, per tal que l'aprenentatge complementari des de casa i via Internet tingui èxit, és necessari que els conceptes estiguin ben endreçats i organitzats segons el currículum, la matèria i el nivell. Apre(he)nder. El ser de la claridad

Apprehend, the being of clarity, is a project of artistic production whose main purpose is to create a route composed of a series of art pieces that guide the spectator wiht visual metaphors through Claros del bosque by Maria Zambrano. This report covers the process carried out during the project. Part of the reading and contextualization of Claros del bosque continues with the selection of key terms, the gestation of ideas and the materialization of them using art as a tool of thought. Throughout this project is articulated a language that infers in the ¿poetic reason¿, and that generates a route composed by art pieces that let the message glimpse and induce to thought and meditation. The one who walks this route will follow a visual reflection on reason with no other purpose except of learning. Within this report we can also find a list of references both theoretical and formal, which have been key in the final resolution of the project. These affect both from a conceptual point of view and from the materialization and projection of the final ideas, in what resulted an exhibition project. And finally, the development of all these concepts and reflection on the fulfillment of the objectives and purposes of this work, titled like the exhibition, Apprehend, the being of clarity.Apre(he)nder, el ser de la claridad, es un proyecto de producción artística que tiene como objetivo principal crear un recorrido compuesto por una serie de obras que guían, mediante metáforas visuales, al espectador por Claros del bosque de María Zambrano. Esta memoria recoge el proceso llevado a cabo durante el proyecto. Parte de la lectura y contextualización de Claros del bosque, sigue con la selección de términos clave, la gestación de ideas y la materialización de ellas utilizando el arte como herramienta del pensamiento. Se articula a lo largo de este proyecto un lenguaje que infiere en la ¿razón poética¿ y que genera, un recorrido compuesto por piezas que dejan entrever el mensaje y suscitan al pensamiento y la meditación. El que ande este recorrido seguirá una reflexión visual sobre la razón, con ningún otro fin que no sea el de Apre(he)nder. Dentro de esta memoria podemos encontrar además, un listado de referentes tanto teóricos como formales, que han sido clave en la resolución final del proyecto. Éstos afectan tanto desde un punto de vista conceptual, como al proceso de creación: la materialización y proyección de las ideas finales para la realización de un proyecto expositivo.
