    Get PDF
The Latin American Society for Developmental Biology (LASDB) is one of the newest societies in this field. However, despite being new, this society already had a highly important impact on the advancement of Developmental Biology across Latin America and globally. From its conception, the society began with the establishment of courses and congresses at the frontiers of knowledge and with the participation of researchers from Latin American countries and other regions, creating an academic and fraternal environment. The first LASDB congress was held in 2003, and recently, in 2019, the LASDB celebrated its tenth meeting, besides the Pan-American congress organized in 2007. Since the creation of this society and throughout its consolidation, the LASDB has been fortunate in receiving the support of highly prominent Developmental Biology societies, with which it has established links and collaboration that have clearly promoted Development Biology not only in Latin America but also in other parts of the world. At this moment, the LASDB looks to the future to continue supporting science in Latin America as it has done up to the present.Fil: Wappner, Pablo. The objective of this research work was to implement a thermal module to improve comfort conditions in the Technical Diagnosis and Energy Efficiency Laboratory at Mechanics Faculty. It was proposed to strengthen knowledge about the operation of a refrigeration system. The development of the work included the calculation of the thermal load through the use of software, the selection of elements and equipment based on the cooling and heating load. They allowed the operation of the equipment as an air conditioner and the construction of the thermal module under the principle of operation of an ideal vapor compression refrigeration cycle. The laboratory guides for the thermal module, the operation manual and the maintenance plan were elaborated. By means of control elements, the performance tests were carried out where the thermal module works as a cooling or heating system, thus allowing a temperature variation in cooling mode of -3.4ºC in a time period of 24 minutes, obtaining thus, an ambient temperature in the laboratory of 20ºC. In the same way the operating tests were carried out in heating mode, obtaining a temperature variation of 4.3ºC in 20 minutes, achieving an ambient temperature in the laboratory of 28, 3ºC. It is concluded that the built thermal module maintains an ambient temperature in the laboratory of 20ºC in cooling mode and a temperature of 28.3ºC in heating mode. Using the laboratory guides the understanding of a basic refrigeration system was helped, knowing its main components, its principle of operation and what are its possible failures and breakdowns. For greater module efficiency, greater thermal insulation is recommended to prevent the entry of external temperatures of laboratory

Background: We had previously reported that the administration of autologous stromal cells (ASCs) therapy to two patients with mild AD dementia led to a global increase in cerebral glucose metabolism which was accompanied by significant improvement of visual short-term memory binding (VSTMB), a function known to be a marker of AD. We suggested that intrathecal administration of autologous ASCs could be considered a new therapeutic strategy for AD dementia (Vaquero et al., 2019). We were interested in investigating the post-intervention durability of such cognitive improvements. Methods: We studied two AD patients with cerebral beta-amyloid neuritic plaques detected with 18FFDG-PET. The patients received every three months 100 million of ASCs by intrathecal route, until a total dose of 300 million. None received any other medication for its disease at the time of receiving cell therapy. Clinical and neuroimaging studies were performed previous and after the therapy, including brain glucose metabolism by 18F-FDG-PET and assessment with the visual short-term memory binding task (VSTMBT). This task has been proposed as a preclinical marker of AD. It requires subjects to detect whether or not two combinations of shape and colour change across two sequential arrays. Here we report on the assessment of these patients one year after the therapy. We compared them with 4 AD patients who did no undergo stem cell therapy. Results: Single case statistics revealed that benefits drawn by treated patients from the therapy remained a year after. Using a more taxing version of the VSTMB test (memory load of 3 items) we observed that, after the therapy, the chance that an untreated AD patient would show more impairment was 75.45% (p= 0.24) for Case 1 and 89.23% (p=0.11) for case 2. This chance remained after 1 year post-treatment for Case 1 (75.45%, p=0.24) and increased for Case 2 (96.89%, p=0.031). Conclusion: Improvements of memory functions known to be marker for AD in patients who underwent stem cell therapy remained stable after one year post-intervention. This offers a new therapeutic strategy for AD

Asimismo, postulamos que este modelo podría permitir trascender viejos, pero aun latentes, binomios -explicación/comprensión; causas/motivos- en la consideración de conocimiento psicoanalítico (Azcona y Lahitte, 2014).This paper is part of the research project “Epistemological and methodological debates about the construction of knowledge in psychoanalysis” (Universidad Nacional de La Plata). The distinctive features of the interventionist conception of the explanation and causality postulated by James Woodward will be developed, which allow us to think about its applicability to the field of psychoanalysis. Among them, it is worth mentioning the dispensability of legal statements in scientific explanations, by postulating the notion of invariance under interventions and a non-reductionist conception of causality. Likewise, we postulate that this model could allow to transcend old, but still latent, binomials -explanation/understanding; causes/motives- in the consideration of psychoanalytic knowledge (Azcona and Lahitte, 2014).Facultad de Psicologí
