Dynamical stability of the Gliese 581 exoplanetary system
Using numerical methods we investigate the dynamical stability of the Gliese
581 exoplanetary system. The system is known to harbour four planets (b-e). The
existence of another planet (g) in the liquid water habitable zone of the star
is debated after the latest analyses of the radial velocity (RV) measurements.
We integrated the 4 and 5-planet model of Vogt et al. (AN 333, 561-575, 2012)
with initial circular orbits. To characterize stability, the maximum
eccentricity was used that the planets reached over the time of the
integrations and the LCI and RLI to identify chaotic motion. Since circular
orbits in the RV fits seem to be a too strong restriction and the true orbits
might be elliptic, we investigated the stability of the planets as a function
of their eccentricity. The integration of the circular 4-planet model shows
that it is stable on a longer timescale for even an inclination i = 5{\deg}. A
fifth planetary body in the 4-planet model could have a stable orbit between
the two super-Earth sized planets c and d, and beyond the orbit of planet d,
although another planet would likely only be stable on circular or
near-circular orbit in the habitable zone of the star. Gliese 581 g in the
5-planet model would have a dynamically stable orbit, even for a wider range of
orbital parameters, but its stability is strongly dependent on the eccentricity
of planet d. The low-mass planet e, which quickly became unstable in eccentric
models, remains stable in the circular 4-planet model, but the stable region
around its initial semi-major axis and eccentricity is rather small. The
stability of the inner planets e and c is dependent on the eccentricity of the
Neptune-size planet b. The outermost planet d is far away from the adjacent
planet c to considerably influence its stability, however, the existence of a
planet between the two super-Earth planets c and d constrains its eccentricity.Comment: 8 pages, 3 tables, 8 figures; accepted for publication in MNRA
Seismo-acoustic investigations of shallow free gas in the sediments of the Baltic Sea
Utilizing a variety of multichannel seismic and multi-frequency acoustic instruments, this thesis focuses on the investigation of the frequency dependence in seismo-acoustic imaging of shallow free gas and the development of methods to characterize gas occurrences and estimate the content in Baltic Sea sediments. A data set collected over the gassy area of the Bornholm Basin, SW part of the Baltic Sea, was processed and analysed. The identification of seismo-acoustic gas signatures in the Bornholm Basin revealed dependence on the measurement frequency as well as on the resonance of gas bubbles in the sediment. Interval velocities obtained from seismic data were shown to be used for the assessment of free gas concentration in situ in shallow marine sediments. With the multi-frequency acoustic approach, measurement of the compressional wave attenuation allows quantification of free gas content in shallow marine environments as long as the measurement frequency reveals the resonance frequency peak
Problems of reliability and exactitude of traffic surveys´ data
The paper dealt with the important problems of exactitude and reliability of composite
traffic parameters. To collect traffic data, the representative sampling method is
applied actually in traffic surveys in Hungary. Nearly all parameters characterising the
traffic are determined as products of different components. Depending upon the
methodology applied in the survey, each component has its own exactitude and
reliability, An appropriate methodology is presented allowing to calculate for all traffic
parameters the error of the estimation and the weight attributed to it, being
proportional to reliability
Holistic Principle and Motives of Re-Union: (Re-)Enchantment in Philip Pullman’s Religious Fantasy, His Dark Materials
The object of this doctoral dissertation is a fictional oeuvre where deep religiousness is slyly embedded within bold anticlericalism, where stark realism artfully lurks within boundless imagination. It is the fantasy trilogy, His Dark Materials (abbreviated as HDM), written by Philip Pullman (19 October 1946- ). Although Pullman has been severely criticised by conservative Christian groups for radically revising the Judeo-Christian myth of the Fall of Man and the death of ‘God,’ yet the fictive world he created in his three novels is far from atheism. The overall aim of my dissertation is to prove that HDM is a deeply (re-)enchanted literary work of art. This is the first hypothesis: I aim to prove that as the holistic principle permeates the structure of HDM, the other, implicit theme of Pullman’s trilogy is the ambition to re-unite. As the second hypothesis, I wish to prove that with its implicit theme (the ambition to re-unite), HDM embodies a criticism of/a reaction to not only mainstream Christian religion, but also alternative spiritualities. As the third hypothesis, I claim that because of the re-enchanted principle of holism, Pullman’s fantasy repeats the conventions of religious fantasy genre
Az emberi tényező beépítése a forgalmi modell szerkezetébe = Encasing human factor in the structure of transport models
Az emberi tényező forgalmi modellbe építését célul kitűző kutatás az alábbi eredményeket érte el: A kutatás eredményeként elkészült szoftver segítségével meghatározható a jelzőlámpás keresztezésbe behaladó, agresszíven viselkedő járművezetők aránya, és a piros jelzésen áthaladás, mint emberi hiba valószínűsége. A szoftver képes kezelni mind a valós mérési eredményeket feldolgozó adatbázist, mind a VISSIM forgalom-szimulációs környezetben megépített kereszteződés virtuális forgalmát. Így a valós és virtuális forgalom közötti különbség is vizsgálható. A szoftver építése során több olyan részeredményt is elértünk, mely a további kutatásokban felhasználható. | The research aimed at involving human factor in traffic models reached the following results: With the help of the software completed as a result of the research, the ratio of the aggressive drivers entering the intersection and the probability of passing the red ligh, like human error, can be defined. The software can work with the real database and the virtual traffic of the intersection simulated by VISSIM. Therefore the dissimiliarity between the real and simulated traffic can be seen. Some interim results will be useful in further research: The perception and decision process of stopping at red light has been described by the descriptive language used in simulation (UML), and the decisions influenced by human parameter and its output have been defined. The human error in selected traffic situations was determined based on available data, and the aggressive and normal driver behaviour was described by the given definition. Theories of priori and apriori probability of human error adapted in different engineering fields were analyzed, and the method which could be applied in traffic engineering was selected
Investigation of the basal and cholesterol-dependent trafficking of P-glycoprotein
A humán multidrog rezisztencia transzporter, P-glikoprotein megtalálható a plazmamembrán raft és nem-raft doménjeiben is. A Pgp azon konformációs állapota (Pool1), mely az UIC2 antitesttel azonosítható nagyobb mértékű raft asszociációt mutat, fokozott internalizációval rendelkezik és recirkulál a sejtfelszínre. A plazmamembrán ciklodextrinnel történő koleszterin depléciója ezen raft asszociált Pgp frakció nem várt emelkedését eredményezte, mely emelkedés hátterében a transzporter fokozott exocitózisa állt. Ennek eredményeként a Pgp-t expresszáló multidrog rezisztens sejtek jobb életképeségeket mutattak a plazmamembrán koleszterin modulációját követően.The multidrug resistance transporter human P-glycoprotein (Pgp) resides in both raft and non-raft domains of the plasma membrane. The conformer of Pgp that binds the monoclonal antibody UIC2 (Pool1) is primarily associated with raft domains, exhibits an increased internalization and recycle to the cell surface. Depletion of cholesterol by cyclodextrin led to an unexpected increase of the raft-associated fraction of Pgp in the cell membrane as a result of an increased exocytosis. The exocytotic event turned out to be part of a complex membrane repair process initiated by lysosomal exocytosis after cholesterol depletion. The Pgp overexpressing 3T3-MDR1 cells had higher total cell cholesterol, more numerous and stable lysosomes, and they exhibited more effective membrane repair after cholesterol modulations compared to the parental cell line. As a result of these, the multidrug resistant Pgp-overexpressing tumor cells exhibited significantly better viabilities after cholesterol modifications.d
Aszód–Papi földek késő neolitikus lelőhely: kapcsolat kelet és nyugat között = Aszód–Papi földek Late Neolithic site: Connection between East and West
Aszód–Papi földek a késő neolitikum európai jelentőségű lelőhelye, ahol egy nagy kiterjedésű település és hozzá tartozó 224 sír került elő. A projekt eredményeként 16 kutató részvételével elkészült a lelőhely monografikus feldolgozásának kézirata. A monográfia tartalmazza a teljes leletanyag, települési jelenségek és az összes temetkezés nemcsak régészeti, hanem interdiszciplináris módszerekkel végzett vizsgálatát. A leletanyag a Tisza- és a Lengyel-kultúra anyagi kultúrájának, szokásainak szimbiózisát tükrözi. A sok közös vonás áthatja a település és a temetkezések közös helyét és rendjét, a mindennapi élet legkülönfélébb tárgyait, behatol a temetkezési rítusba, a szellemi szféra és az anyagi kultúra csaknem minden részletébe. A pályázati támogatásból elsősorban természettudományos vizsgálatokat végeztünk: 1. a kerámia petrográfiai vizsgálata bebizonyította, hogy a tiszai stílusú edények helyben készültek, 2. a Spondylus ékszerek stabilizotóp-geokémiai vizsgálatai alapján az Adriai- és az Égei-tengerből származhattak, 3. a lelőhely környezetének rekonstruálása feltárta az egykori környezet mozaikosságát és az emberi megtelepedés környezetre gyakorolt hatását, 4. az új AMS radiokarbon mérések alapján a lelőhely sokkal pontosabban, Kr.e. 4760-4670 közé keltezhető, 5. az archaeozoológiai elemzés a vadászat jelentőségére mutatott rá. Ezek mellett elkészült a csonteszközök feldolgozása és a temetkezések társadalomrégészeti elemzése. A kutatás eredményeit rendszeresen publikáltuk. | Aszód-Papi földek, where an extensive Late Neolithic settlement and 224 graves were found, is one of the most important archaeological sites in Europe. As a result of this research project the manuscript of the site’s monographic publication has been prepared by 16 authors. This manuscript contains not only the archaeological but interdisciplinary analysis of the whole find material, settlement features and all burials. The finds represent the mixture of the Tisza and Lengyel cultures. Several common traits could be found in the common place and features of settlement and burials, in the everyday life, in almost every part of the material culture and the cognitive sphere. The financial support were primary used for interdisciplinary analyses: 1. the petrographic analysis of the pottery revealed that Tisza style vessels were local products, 2. stabile isotope geochemical analyses of Spondylus finds proved that the origin of their raw material could be both the Adriatic and the Aegean, 3. the paleoenvironmental analyses could reconstruct a mosaic natural environment around the site and found the traces of human impact on the environment, 4. new series of AMS radiocarbon data could much more precisely date the site between 4760 (68.2%) 4670 cal BC, 5. archaeozzological analysis showed the importance of hunting. Complete study of bone tools and social archaeological analysis of burials were also prepared. The results of the research project were regularly published
AZ ANGLIAI ÉS A MAGYARORSZÁGI FÖLDMINŐSÍTÉSI MÓDOZATOK ÉS FÖLDÁRAK ÖSSZEHASONLÍTÓ ELEMZÉSE = COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE ARABLE LAND ASSESSMENT SYSTEMS AND LAND PRICES OF ENGLAND AND HUNGARY
