    Get PDF
The fiscal policy plays a crucial role in a country's economic growth and development. The main aim of this paper is to analyze the fiscal policy in general and to estimate the impact of direct and indirect taxes on economic growth in particular in case of Kosovo. To achieve the main aim of this paper a broadly national and international literature is reviewed and discussed thus the Pearson Correlation and Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression model have been modified and adapted to estimate the relationship and the impact of direct and indirect taxes on economic growth in Kosovo. The data used is secondary data taken from the Tax Administration of Kosovo, the Ministry of Finance and the Kosovo Agency of Statistics. For model estimation the IBM SPSS program is used. This study concludes that budget revenues from direct and indirect taxes mark an increasing and positive trend in case of Kosovo. Based on the Pearson Correlations we conclude that direct taxes are strongly and positively correlated to Gross Domestic Product however the results of OLS regression in our circumstances show no significance of the independent variables that means that direct and indirect taxes have no impact on economic growth of Kosovo. The paper comes with some key conclusions and further recommendations

As part of a larger research program on media coverage and representation of the conflicts in the Balkans, we examine humanizing visualizations of armed conflict. The study focuses, in particular, on photojournalistic accounts of the humanitarian crisis in Kosovo at the 25th anniversary of the Kosovo war. Drawing, in particular, on Ariella Aïsha Azoulay’s (2008) concept of the civil contract of photography, this study analyses how victims of humanitarian catastrophes are represented and what images communicate in terms of family, gender, international communication, and conflict. We interrogate visual signifiers in conflict and global narrative constructions of refugees fleeing from conflict and how the visual rhetoric of war and conflict aims to elicit affective responses. Finally, the study highlights the work of women photojournalists in Kosovo and the Balkans and the impact of their work twenty-five years onward

Aflatoxins are mycotoxins of major concern to the dairy industry. Given the fact that aflatoxins M1 mycotoxins can cause toxic effects called mycotoxicosis. It has been reported that mycotoxins are carcinogenic, tumorigenic, and dermatological in a large number of organisms and cause hepatic carcinoma in humans. This study aims to identify the quantity of mycotoxins M1 in dairy products used by consumers in the Republic of Kosovo. According to the results obtained from the analyzes of processed milk samples we have come to the conclusion that the content of aflatoxin M1 in all types of dairy products is not allowed limits according to the regulation in force for the safety of food products

The Econometric Approach of the Impact of Public Investment in the Road- Infrastructure in the Economic Growth of Kosovo

    Get PDF
Economic growth and public investments are considered the most challenging problems faced by most countries around the world, including Kosovo. Various assumptions have been made that better and higher-quality transport is essential for the country's economic development. This study aims to analyze the relationship and the impact of public investments in road infrastructure on Kosovo's economic growth taking into analysis also other macroeconomics aggregates such as Consumption, Investment, Exports, and Imports. Two important aspects have been addressed within the extensive literature review, namely theoretical analysis of different studies elaborating on elements regarding infrastructure in general,  such as social and economic infrastructure, and road infrastructure in particular. To analyze the impact of public investments in road infrastructure and other macroeconomics aggregates over Kosovo's economic growth, the econometric multiple regression model Ordinary Least Squares (OLS), the Pearson Correlation, and the Test for heteroskedasticity have been applied. The data used is secondary data obtain from the World Bank Indicators, Kosovo Agency of Statistics, and the Official Gazette of the Republic of Kosovo. All these models are tested with the STATA software program. Based on regression analysis, we can conclude that public investments in road infrastructure for Kosovo's economic growth are non-significant as their effect is manifested in the long run, but all the other independent variables from the OLS model are significant and impact the GDP growth of Kosovo. The study comes with some other conclusions, suggestions and opens paths for future researchers

Is keV ion induced pattern formation on Si(001) caused by metal impurities?

We present ion beam erosion experiments performed in ultra high vacuum using a differentially pumped ion source and taking care that the ion beam hits the Si(001) sample only. Under these conditions no ion beam patterns form on Si for angles below 45 degrees with respect to the global surface normal using 2 keV Kr ions and fluences of 2 x 10^22 ions/m^2. In fact, the ion beam induces a smoothening of preformed patterns. Simultaneous sputter deposition of stainless steel in this angular range creates a variety of patterns, similar to those previously ascribed to clean ion beam induced destabilization of the surface profile. Only for grazing incidence with incident angles between 60 degrees and 83 degrees pronounced ion beam patterns form. It appears that the angular dependent stability of Si(001) against pattern formation under clean ion beam erosion conditions is related to the angular dependence of the sputtering yield, and not primarily to a curvature dependent yield as invoked frequently in continuum theory models.Comment: 15 pages, 7 figures. U Makedoniji se vrlo često narodne nošnje ukrašavaju zlatnim i srebrnim srmama. Najraskošnije svečane nošnje nose mlade žene do prvih pet godina braka.

The future of Kosovo’s economic development relies on the exploration of natural resources, particularly, mining. Great importance has been placed on the exploitation of these resources via the surface utilization of marls. Marls being the prevalent raw material for cement production. Since the beginning of 20thcentury, great achievements have been made in the geo-techniques field, leading to the remarkable progress in the art of mining. This paper through the limit equilibrium solution examines the optimization of parameters for slope stability and presents the findings of the on-site research and lab workings conducted on the open-pit mines of marls near the cement plant “SHARR CEM” Hani i Elezit. Expansion of the mine to the south-eastern boundary will require significant stability analysis. Therefore in order to determine represented parameters as realistically as possible, physic-mechanical parameters were drawn from the material on the slope. The lab results were processed from astatistical perspective their reduction were conducted under geotechnical conditions for safety. This parameters where adopted so that slope stability calculations could take place. Two analytic methods were used for geostatic analyses,The Bishop’smethod and Janbu’s method

Organizational culture is a case that has a big attention in the world of globalization economy. Nowadays we can hear different kind of debates and also we can find a lot of research papers that are related with organizational culture. In most of research papers we can find different definitions of the organizational culture but in context the concept of culture means the same: “Culture is how organizations do things” — Robbie Katanga. Most simple cultures involve three basic human activities: what people think, what people do and what people make. Organizational culture has to be oriented in highly positive virtues, attitudes, and behavior of employees and management that are part of individuals who work together to achieve organizational goals in effective and efficient way. These individuals share their attitudes, values, beliefs between organization, with costumers and furniture and with the whole factors that directly or indirectly are related with the organization work. Organizational culture is a big matter for all types of organizations because it has very important effect on the company’s success and the whole wellbeing. In this research paper is showed a picture of the organizational culture in academic institutions regarding to Hoffstede’s five dimensions for culture

The vegetables represent a food with high nutritional values, especially rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, therefore it is recommended their daily consumption at least once up to twice rations per day. Based on this fact, it is of great importance to take into consideration the safety of consumption of vegetables for human health. Therefore, in this study one analyzed the content (presence) of pesticides in certain vegetables such are fresh tomatoes, fresh pepper, beans, fresh cucumbers and fresh carrots. The results that were obtained indicated that overall presence of pesticides in most of the vegetables that were studied, is minimal and within permitted limits, except for the fresh carrots where the presence of pesticide Phosalone, a chemical organophosphate which is used as insecticide and acaricide, is very high and is within maximal allowed limits of 0.01 mg/kg, as well as the presence of pesticide Buprofezin is 0.04 mg/kg which is much closer to the allowed maximal limit of 0.05 mg/kg
