The Importance of Food in Children Until 12 Years

    No full text
Food plays an important role in human especially physical and mental development. In children it plays an important role because their bodies develop very quickly. The aim of this study was to identify and improve school feeding choices through an educational and awareness approach. Such a thing was realized through the survey procedure as the primary stage of obtaining information on the current eating habits of children during their stay at school. Then, to get closer to these children, we have given a lecture, including children, teachers, and parents in discussions about the importance of healthy eating and ways to make more informed choices. During these sessions, children in primary school were encouraged to compile lists of recommended foods and beverages for consumption during school hours. Our results show a small knowledge of children about importance of food, but the desire to cooperate on the part of parents and teachers was very high. Raising awareness and raising awareness of the healthiest food among children is most necessary

. The choledochus, or common bile duct (CBD), is a noteworthy segment of the biliary framework serving to convey bile from liver and gallbladder to duodenum. Injuries of the choledochus are complications of different medical and surgical in- terventions, with serious morbidities. In this publication, we provide an updated review of the incidence, mechanisms and man- agement of choledochal injuries to emphasize the need for early diagnosis and on-time treatmen

How A.I. Will Change the Entire Structure of Civilisation: The Need for A New Design of Education

    No full text
The rapid rise of A.I. is expected to replace up to 90% of jobs by the end of the century, leading to widespread unemployment and profound social challenges. This paper explores the societal impacts of A.I.-driven unemployment, including increased crime, depression, and diminished personal freedoms due to heightened surveillance. It argues for a shift in education, moving away from job-oriented curricula toward a focus on behavioral development, ethics, and social responsibility, to prepare future generations for life in an A.I.-dominated world

Advantages and Disadvantages of Teaching Medical English

    No full text
Cosmopolitanism and globalization are reshaping societies worldwide. As English is the lingua franca nowadays it is necessary to deepen and shape the knowledge of professionals of different fields so that they adapt culturally, linguistically and professionally in any environment. One of the sectors mostly involved is the healthcare system, as it is multinational and multilingual. So, the need to teach Medical English arises and is a must for any student involved in medical related fields. Medical terminology also encompasses words of Greek and Latin origin, neoclassical compounds; thus, it is consistent and uniform across many languages throughout the world. Students of Veterinary Medicine at the Agricultural University of Tirana are taught this module in the 1st year as a compulsory module. There is generally positive feedback, but there are of course difficulties while studying this module. Medical English is taught in context specific situations. In addition to advantages and disadvantages of teaching Medical English the paper will present a questionnaire with the students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to identify the different approaches they have towards this ESP English as compared to General English from their previous education

Enhancing University-Level Efl Instruction Through Differentiated Approaches - A Comprehensive Review

    No full text
This paper presents an in-depth review of differentiated instructional strategies tailored for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching at the university level. It emphasizes the necessity of addressing the varied proficiency levels among students within this context. As global academic environments become increasingly diverse, the need for instructional methods that cater to a wide range of linguistic capabilities becomes imperative. This review analyzes the efficacy of differentiated approaches, supported by a thorough examination of current research and pedagogical practices. The study highlights the importance of formative assessment, individualized learning trajectories, the integration of digital tools, and the incorporation of cultural awareness in crafting effective EFL instruction. Moreover, it explores contemporary educational innovations such as flipped learning and hybrid teaching models, demonstrating their potential to meet diverse learner needs. The insights provided are aimed at equipping educators, especially within predominantly Albanian-speaking institutions, with practical strategies to enhance the inclusivity and effectiveness of EFL programs at the tertiary level

Attention span and concentration: A review of undergraduate students’ responses and practices

    No full text
Compulsive use of smartphones and the influence of other various external and internal factors have contributed to exacerbate students’ focus and concentration in class. In order to foster better cognitive competence, it is necessary to observe and improve students’ classroom concentration. This research paper examines and compares male and female students’ attention span in a 90-minute long English Language class. Moreover, it reviews the main factors which interfere with students’ concentration, based on their own responses and actions. The participants in this study were 60 students studying Management Business and Economics (MBE) at UBT - Higher Education Institution in Prishtina. The results obtained from the students’s responses and the classroom observations revealed that male students had a shorter concentration span; most of them (43.3%) reported that they were able to maintain their concentration in class for 20-30 minutes, whereas most female students (46.7%) stated that they could remain concentrated for 45 minutes or even more. As per students’ responses, the main factors affecting their concentration were: mobile devices, their colleagues, the classroom setting, the urge to smoke, large classes, noise and other factors which will be specified in the research paper

This is a phenomenon that has not been studied before and gives a clear picture of how hypersexuality can affect children. For the purposes of the study, and raised some research questions which are the issues of great interest regarding this phenomenon. The research included a sample of 152 subjects, of which 76 were children aged 7-12 and the rest were parents who had a child of this age. This sample was selected from the city of Tirana and Korça. Data collection was carried out through a quantitative approach, more through the administration of the instruments: The omnibus question to parents and The omnibus question to children/young people . The conclusions drawn from this whole process showed that children\u27s hypersexualism is negative in their emotional and cognitive aspect

Synthetic Strategies for Some Carborane Analogues of Coumarins with Anticancer Activity

    No full text
The intense investigation in medicinal chemistry showed that many of the coumarin derivatives with expressed anticoagulant activity, are showing anticancer effects in the same time. Thus, very known and commercially available medicaments as Warfarin, Phenprocoumon, Sintrom (acenocoumarol) and Bromadiolone are intensively studied for their cytostatic, apoptotic and antiproliferative activities. On the other hand, recently, carborane clusters that can be regarded as phenyl mimics have attracted attention. Most boranes are not very suitable for biological applications due to instability; however, carboranes, where two BH- units of closo-B12 H12 2- are formally substituted by two CH fragments, had shown remarkable biological stability. Thus, many compounds containing carboranes as pharmacophore have received much attention in the last decade, especially in the search of novel effective chemotherapeutic agents. Taking into consideration that many flavonoids and their constitutional isomers, coumarins, have shown noticeable anticancer properties, it was planned to synthesize novel compounds by replacing the aromatic ring of some of their derivatives by a carborane cluster to enhanced metabolic stability as well as enhanced hydrophobicity. Many strategies were employed in order to synthetize the desired carborane analogues of Warfarin and the other coumarin derivatives but only few of them were fully applicable due to the complex steps into the retrosynthetic strategies
