Objective To investigate the application value of bedside ultrasound in the localization of the tip of a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) in preterm infants. Methods 52 preterm infants underwent bedside ultrasound and bedside X-ray examination. Observing the position of the catheter tip, and using the bedside X-ray positioning as the gold standard. Statistics of the incidence of PICC tip normal position and ectopic position showed by bedside ultrasound, and comparing the difference between the results of bedside ultrasound and bedside X-ray. Calculating the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of ultrasound in diagnosing the tip position, and the length of the inlet and withdrawal tubes of the ectopic catheter was observed and calculated by ultrasound and down-regulated to the appropriate position under ultrasound guidance. Results The display rate of catheter tip by bedside color Doppler ultrasound was 98.0%, and the accuracy rate of tip position was 90.2%. There was no significant difference compared with bedside X-ray (P = 0.375), and the tip position of the two examination methods was highly consistent (Kappa = 0.769, P<0.001). The sensitivity of diagnosing tip ectopy was 76.5% and the specificity was 97.1%, and the success rate of ectopic catheters in ultrasound-guided downsetting was 100%. Conclusion Bedside ultrasound accurately show the position of the catheter tip and guide the entry and withdrawal of ectopic catheter, with high sensitivity and specificity, which has high value of clinical promotion

The title compound, C15H10O4·H2O, also known as alizarin 1-methyl ether monohydrate, was isolated from Morinda officinalis How. The anthraquinone ring system is almost planar, the dihedral angle between the two outer benzene rings being 3.07 (4)°. In the crystal structure, O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the organic molecules and the water molecules, forming a three-dimensional network

Objective:To investigate the aspiration risk and the aspiration cognition of elderly inpatients. Method: A self-designed questionnaire about the aspiration risk and the aspiration cognition was applied to survey the hospitalized elderly. Result: The aspiration risk of the elderly was higher, up to 41.3%, characterized by coming up with various symptoms. The illnesses the elderly suffering from, types of medication, motion ability and the state of consciousness were the risk factors resulting in aspiration (P<0.05); and only 4.4% of the patients completely understood the knowledge of aspiration and aspiration pneumonitis. Conclusion: Elderly patients are at high risk of aspiration along with various symptoms coming up with, and they have poor knowledge about aspiration and aspiration pneumonitis relatively.

Quantum phase transition of light in a 1-D photon-hopping-controllable resonator array

We give a concrete experimental scheme for engineering the insulator-superfluid transition of light in a one-dimensional (1-D) array of coupled superconducting stripline resonators. In our proposed architecture, the on-site interaction and the photon hopping rate can be tuned independently by adjusting the transition frequencies of the charge qubits inside the resonators and at the resonator junctions, respectively, which permits us to systematically study the quantum phase transition of light in a complete parameter space. By combining the techniques of photon-number-dependent qubit transition and fast read-out of the qubit state using a separate low-Q resonator mode, the statistical property of the excitations in each resonator can be obtained with a high efficiency. An analysis of the various decoherence sources and disorders shows that our scheme can serve as a guide to coming experiments involving a small number of coupled resonators.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figure

Purpose: To develop an effective and rapid strategy for the identification of fruits of I. verum and I. anisatum based on their odor and taste. Methods: Electronic nose (E-nose) and electronic tongue (E-tongue) technology was used to identify the fruits of I. verum (FIV) and I. anisatum (FIA). Samples of FIA, FIV, and FIA : FIV mixtures in different proportions (1 : 3, 1 : 1, and 3 : 1) were prepared to evaluate the identification abilities of E-nose and Etongue methods. Samples were powdered and sifted through a standard sieve (aperture size 355 ± 13 μm) for E-nose analysis. Each sample was refluxed with water for 1 h before E-tongue analysis. The acquired data were analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA) and discriminant factor analysis (DFA).Results: Based on the signals acquired by E-nose and E-tongue analyses, a total of 90 data points each were used for PCA. The three principal component values for E-nose analysis were PC1 = 93.89 %, PC2 = 6.08 %, and PC3 = 0.03 %, and those for E-tongue analysis were PC1 = 98.72 %, PC2 = 0.68 %, and PC3 = 0.57 %. The sample data were significantly divided into two groups representing FIV and FIA. Furthermore, E-nose and E-tongue assessments combined with PCA and DFA analyses effectively identified FIV, FIA and their mixtures. Conclusion: The use of E-nose and E-tongue technology is an effective and rapid strategy to identify the fruits of I. verum and I. anisatum and their mixtures. This strategy may also offer an effective method for detection of adulterants. Keywords: Illicium verum, Illicium anisatum, Discrimination, Electronic nose, Electronic tongue, Safety, Principal component analysis, Discriminant factor analysi

A Novel Enhancement Algorithm Combined with Improved Fuzzy Set Theory for Low Illumination Images

Get PDF
A novel enhancement method of global brightness modulation and local contrast enhancement combined with the improved fuzzy set theory is proposed for color image contrast enhancement. The proposed method consists of three stages. Firstly, putting forward nonlinear global brightness mapping model adjusts dynamic range of images for luminance component V of HSV color space. Secondly, membership function is established in stages to adjust local contrast of image details nonlinearly based on fuzzy set theory. Finally, the enhanced images are transformed from HSV color space into RGB color space. The experiments further show that the proposed method has the shortest processing time, the highest AIC values, and the least NIQE values among the other four conventional methods. It has excellent effect, which can enhance the global brightness and local contrast, and advance visibility of low illumination images

In the present study, the repellent activities of the leaf and/or stem crude extracts of Glycosmis lucida Wall. ex Huang, G. craibii var. glabra, G. craibii Tanaka, G. oligantha Huang, G. pentaphylla (Retz) Correa. and G. esquirolii (Levl.) Tanaka were analyzed by using assays on petri dishes against Tribolium castaneum and Liposcelis bostrychophila. The leaf and stem extracts of G. lucida, G. craibii var. glabra, G. craibii Tanaka, G. oligantha and G. esquirolii possessed significant repellent activities against T. castaneum, the same level repellent with the positive control, DEET. However, the extracts of G. pentaphylla, no repellency but some insect attractant was observed. Moreover, they also showed repellent activities against L. bostrychophila. These results indicate that extracts from G. lucida and G. oligantha leaf could be a source of novel repellent against insects
