    Get PDF
Basic physicochemical properties were discussed at different temperatures for 18 hydrophobic ionic liquids (ILs) which containing imidazolium and pyridinium as cations, separately. The ILs include 1-ethyl-3-methylimizazolium tris(pentafluoroethyl)trifluorophosphate ([C2mim][PF3(CF2CF3)3]), 1-acetonitrile-3-ethylimimdazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([MCNMIM][NTf2]), 1-(cyanopropyl)-3-methylimidazolium bis[(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl]imide [PCNMIM][NTf2], 1-ethanol-3-ethylimimdazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([EOHMIM][NTf2]), 1-butylamide-3-ethylimimdazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)-imide ([CH2CONHBuEIM][NTf2]), N-alkylpyridinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide {[Cnpy][NTf2] (n = 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)}, N-alkyl-3-methylpyridinium bis(trifluoromethyl-sulfonyl)imide {[Cn3Mpy][NTf2] (n = 3, 4, 6)}, and N-alkyl-4-methylpyridinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide {[Cn4Mpy][NTf2] (n = 2, 4, 6)}. The molar volume, standard molar entropy, and lattice energy were estimated by the empirical and semiempirical equations. The dependences of density, dynamic viscosity, and electrical conductivity on temperature are discussed in the measured temperature range. It is found that with the increasing temperature, the density and dynamic viscosity decreased, while the electrical conductivity increases. The influences of microstructures of ILs, such as the introduction of the methylene, methyl, and functional groups on cations, on their basic physicochemical properties are discussed

Superior Self-Powered Room-Temperature Chemical Sensing with Light-Activated Inorganic Halides Perovskites

    Get PDF
Hybrid halide perovskite is one of the promising light absorber and is intensively investigated for many optoelectronic applications. Here, the first prototype of a self-powered inorganic halides perovskite for chemical gas sensing at room temperature under visible-light irradiation is presented. These devices consist of porous network of CsPbBr3 (CPB) and can generate an open-circuit voltage of 0.87 V under visible-light irradiation, which can be used to detect various concentrations of O2 and parts per million concentrations of medically relevant volatile organic compounds such as acetone and ethanol with very quick response and recovery time. It is observed that O2 gas can passivate the surface trap sites in CPB and the ambipolar charge transport in the perovskite layer results in a distinct sensing mechanism compared with established semiconductors with symmetric electrical response to both oxidizing and reducing gases. The platform of CPB-based gas sensor provides new insights for the emerging area of wearable sensors for personalized and preventive medicine.H.C. and M.Z. contributed equally to this work. BCS theory for s+g-wave superconductivity borocarbides Y(Lu)Ni2_2B2_2C

The s+g mixed gap function \Delta_k=\Delta {[(1-x)-x\sin^4\theta\cos4\phi]} (x: weight of g-wave component) has been studied within BCS theory. By suitable consideration of the pairing interaction, we have confirmed that the coexistence of s- and g-wave, as well as the state with equal s and g amplitudes (i.e., x=1/2) may be stable. This provides the semi-phenomenological theory for the s+g-wave superconductivity with point nodes which has been observed experimentally in borocarbides YNi_2B_2C and possibly in LuNi_2B_2C.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure

Objective. The aim of this review is to characterize current status of global TCM clinical trials registered in ClinicalTrials.gov. Methods. We examined all the trials registered within ClinicalTrials.gov up to 25 September 2015, focusing on study interventions to identify TCM-related trials, and extracted 1,270 TCM trials from the data set. Results. Overall, 691 (54.4%) trials were acupuncture, and 454 (35.8%) trials were herbal medicines. Differences in TCM trial intervention types were also evident among the specific therapeutic areas. Among all trials, 55.7% that were small studies enrolled <100 subjects, and only 8.7% of completed studies had reported results of trials. As for the location, the United States was second to China in conducting the most TCM trials. Conclusion. This review is the first snapshot of the landscape of TCM clinical trials registered in ClinicalTrials.gov, providing the basis for treatment and prevention of diseases within TCM and offering useful information that will guide future research on TCM

Reentrant charge ordering caused by polaron formation

Based on a two-dimensional extended Hubbard model with electron-phonon interaction, we have studied the effect of polaron formation on the charge ordering (CO) transition. It is found that for fully ferromagnetically ordered spins the CO state may go through a process of appearance, collapse and reappearance with decreasing temperature. This is entirely due to a emperature-dependent polaron bandwidth. On the other hand, when a paramagnetic spin state is considered, only a simple reentrant behavior of the CO transition is found, which is only partly due to polaron effect. This model is proposed as an explanation of the observed reentrant behavior of the CO transition in the layered manganite LaSr2_2Mn2_2O7_7.Comment: 4 pages, 2 eps figures, revised version accepted by Phys. Molecular Targets and Associated Potential Pathways of Danlu Capsules in Hyperplasia of Mammary Glands Based on Systems Pharmacology

    Get PDF
Hyperplasia of mammary glands (HMG) is common in middle-aged women. Danlu capsules (DLCs) can effectively relieve pain and improve clinical symptoms and are safe for treating HMG. However, the active substances in DLCs and the molecular mechanisms of DLCs in HMG remain unclear. This study identified the bioactive compounds and delineated the molecular targets and potential pathways of DLCs by using a systems pharmacology approach. The candidate compounds were retrieved from the traditional Chinese medicine systems pharmacology (TCMSP) database and analysis platform. Each candidate’s druggability was analyzed according to its oral bioavailability and drug-likeness indices. The candidate proteins and genes were extracted in the TCMSP and UniProt Knowledgebase, respectively. The potential pathways associated with the genes were identified by performing gene enrichment analysis with DAVID Bioinformatics Resources 6.7. A total of 603 compounds were obtained from DLCs, and 39 compounds and 66 targets associated with HMG were obtained. Gene enrichment analysis yielded 10 significant pathways with 34 targets. The integrated HMG pathway revealed that DLCs probably act in patients with HMG through multiple mechanisms of anti-inflammation, analgesic effects, and hormonal regulation. This study provides novel insights into the mechanisms of DLCs in HMG, from the molecular level to the pathway level

Comparison of genetic impact on growth and wood traits between seedlings and clones from the same plus trees of Pinus koraiensis

    Get PDF
To evaluate the relationships among clones and open pollinated families from the same plus trees and to select elite breeding materials, growth, and wood characteristics of 33-year-old Pinus koraiensis clones and families were measured and analyzed. The results show that growth and wood characters varied significantly. The variation due to clonal effects was higher than that of family effects. The ratio of genetic to phenotypic coefficient of variation of clones in growth and wood traits was above 90%, and the repeatability of these characteristics was more than 0.8, whereas the ratio of genetic to phenotypic coefficient of variation of families was above 90%. The broad-sense heritability of all characteristics exceeded 0.4, and the narrow-sense family heritability of growth traits was less than 0.3. Growth characteristics were positively correlated with each other, but most wood properties were weakly correlated in both clones and families. Fiber length and width were positively correlated between clones and families. Using the membership function method, eleven clones and four families were selected as superior material for improved diameter growth and wood production, and two families from clonal and open-pollinated trees showed consistently better performance. Generally, selection of the best clones is an effective alternative to deployment of families as the repeatability estimates from clonal trees were higher than narrow-sense heritability estimates from open pollinated families. The results provide valuable insight for improving P. koraiensis breeding programs and subsequent genetic improvement

Safety and tolerability of a single dose T0001 in Chinese healthy adult volunteers: a first-in-human ascending dose study

    Get PDF
T0001 is the first mutant of etanercept with a higher affinity to tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) than etanercept. In order to investigate the safety and tolerability of T0001, a study was carried out in healthy Chinese subjects. A first-in-human, dose escalation study was conducted in healthy Chinese subjects. Fifty-six subjects were divided into six dose cohorts (10 mg, 20 mg, 35 mg, 50 mg, 65 mg and 75 mg) to receive a single subcutaneous injection of T0001. Safety and tolerability assessment were based on the records of vital signs, physical examinations, clinical laboratory tests, 12-lead electrocardiograms and adverse events (AEs). All subjects were in good compliance and none withdraw due to AEs. No serious AEs occurred. A total of twenty-three AEs in sixteen subjects were recorded, and eighteen of these AEs were believed to be related to T0001. The most frequently reported AEs were injection site reactions and white blood cell count increase. All these AEs were of mild to moderate intensity and most of them recovered spontaneously within 14 days. In this study, no dose-limiting toxicity was observed, and the maximum tolerated dose was identified as 75 mg. T0001 was considered safe and generally well tolerated at doses up to 75 mg in healthy Chinese volunteers

Spin-Peierls transition in an anisotropic two-dimensional XY model

The two-dimensional Jordan-Wigner transformation is used to investigate the zero temperature spin-Peierls transition for an anisotropic two-dimensional XY model in adiabatic limit. The phase diagram between the dimerized (D) state and uniform (U) state is shown in the parameter space of dimensionless interchain coupling hh (=J/J)(=J_{\perp}/J) and spin-lattice coupling η\eta. It is found that the spin-lattice coupling η\eta must exceed some critical value ηc\eta_c in order to reach the D phase for any finite hh. The dependence of ηc\eta_c on hh is given by 1/lnh-1/\ln h for h0h\to 0 and the transition between U and D phase is of first-order for at least h>103h>10^{-3}.Comment: 2 eps figures, considerable revisions were mad
