On the possibility to supercool molecular hydrogen down to superfluid transition

Recent calculations by Vorobev and Malyshenko (JETP Letters, 71, 39, 2000) show that molecular hydrogen may stay liquid and superfluid in strong electric fields of the order of 4×107V/cm4\times 10^7 V/cm. I demonstrate that strong local electric fields of similar magnitude exist beneath a two-dimensional layer of electrons localized in the image potential above the surface of solid hydrogen. Even stronger local fields exist around charged particles (ions or electrons) if surface or bulk of a solid hydrogen crystal is statically charged. Measurements of the frequency shift of the 121 \to 2 photoresonance transition in the spectrum of two-dimensional layer of electrons above positively or negatively charged solid hydrogen surface performed in the temperature range 7 - 13.8 K support the prediction of electric field induced surface melting. The range of surface charge density necessary to stabilize the liquid phase of molecular hydrogen at the temperature of superfluid transition is estimated.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figure

The development of a transport system that meets both the requirements of residents to ensure mobility while maintaining the ecology of the city, and the requirements of a business that needs an efficient logistics system is a topical task for most megalopolises. Moscow, being no exception, is making significant efforts to develop the city’s transport system, using both traditional methods of increasing the capacity of roads and developing the city’s infrastructure to use bicycle transport, which can reduce the load on the city’s public transport and positively affect the city’s economy and ecology. Recently, electric vehicles of individual use began to appear on the streets of the city: electric bicycles, electric scooters, etc.The objective of the research is to consider problems and assess the prospects for using individual electric vehicles in megalopolises, at the example of Moscow, for both recreational and utilitarian purposes. The study used as research methods the analysis of the experience of development of these vehicles abroad, including in the urban transport system, and the analysis of the regulatory aspects of the use of electric bikes to determine the main areas that need to be taken into account when using electric bikes in the urban environment. The authors also evaluate the possibilities of their use, considering categories of goods and the features of routing. The conclusion is drawn on the large existing potential of the use of electric bicycles as of an instrument of urban logistics, and on the advantages of electric bicycles as of an alternative urban transportmode.

Constructive Properties of Union CHTO… CHTO… and Its Semantics

    Get PDF
The article deals with the constructive properties of the union chto ... chto ... and its semantic features due to them. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that for the first time in Russian studies the union chto ... chto ... is described by analyzing its constructive properties. In this case, the main attention is paid to the morphological and syntactic characteristics of the word forms included in the scope of this union, the principles of their relationship with each other, as well as external links with syntactic structures in which the union construction as a whole is involved. An additional toolkit is the etymological characteristic of chto ... chto ... The theoretical significance lies in the proposed description algorithm, which can be used to characterize similar means of syntactic communication. The results obtained are compared with the constructive properties of the union khot’ … khot’ …, identified earlier using a similar algorithm. Based on this, not only the semantics of both means of syntactic communication is specified. It has been established that, due to its constructive properties, the union chto ... chto ... seeks to level the semantic differences between the composed alternatives, while khot’ … khot’ …, on the contrary, focuses on opposing them to each other

Semantic-Syntactic and Communicative-Pragmatic Features of Translation of Sentences with Coordinative Conjunctions from Russian into Korean Language

    Get PDF
The article covers the problems of translation of sentences with coordinative conjunctions into Korean. The object of the analysis is sentences with basic coordinative conjunctions i ‘and,’ a , no ‘but,’ ili ‘or.’ The novelty of the work lies in the fact that semantic-syntactic and communicative-pragmatic features of situations in the context of which the use of these unions occurs are taken as the starting point of translation, on the basis of which equivalent lexical and grammatical means of the Korean language are selected. The work is carried out on the material of artificially compiled examples, and the results are illustrated by facts from the natural language. This approach is determined by the need to combine educational-methodological and scientific-practical approaches in the consideration of this little-studied problem. It is established that the expression of coordinative relations in the Korean language, on the one hand, is closely related to the grammatical structure of sentences-statements, but to some extent is based on the context by which the speaker and listener concretize a communicative vector given by the grammar. On the other hand, in the Russian language, the means of coordinative relations are more specific in their specialization, but due to the high degree of abstraction of their semantics, they require a proper level of interpretation and understanding from the translator

Discrete Family of Dissipative Soliton Pairs in Mode-Locked Fiber Lasers

We numerically investigate the formation of soliton pairs (bound states) in mode-locked fiber ring lasers. In the distributed model (complex cubic-quintic Ginzburg-Landau equation) we observe a discrete family of soliton pairs with equidistantly increasing peak separation. This family was identified by two alternative numerical schemes and the bound state instability was disclosed by a linear stability analysis. Moreover, similar families of unstable bound state solutions have been found in a more realistic lumped laser model with an idealized saturable absorber (instantaneous response). We show that a stabilization of these bound states can be achieved when the finite relaxation time of the saturable absorber is taken into account. The domain of stability can be controlled by varying this relaxation time

    Get PDF
The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of the technological operation “pre-slaughter fasting period” on the qualitative characteristics of the meat of young bulls. The studies were carried out in two groups of Ayrshire bulls of 18 months of age, with a live weight of 435 ± 3.25 kg: I (n = 10) – slaughter without fasting period at the slaughter station, II (n = 10) – slaughter with 24-hour fasting period at the slaughter station. The total distance from the farm to the animal weighing and slaughter station was 97 km, and the travel time was 1 hour 43 minutes. The ambient temperature at the time of transportation was minus 13-15 °C, air humidity was 79 %, wind speed was 6 m/s. It has been established that the technological operation in the form of fasting period during 24 hours after transportation affected the qualitative indicators of the longissimus dorsi muscle, namely, there increased: the dry matter content by 2.45 %, protein – by 2.64 %, glycogen concentration – by 38.9 %, moisture capacity – by 11.01 %, oleic fatty acid – by 2.65 % with a decrease in moisture content – by 2.48 %, pH – by 3.5 %, myristic fatty acid by 0.95 %, palmitoleic acid – by 0.42 %, stearic acid – by 1.35 % compared to the group of bulls without fasting period. Thus, pre-slaughter 24-hour fasting period of young bulls improves the qualitative characteristics of meat compared to animals slaughtered without it

Effects of radiation and manganese oxide nanoparticles on human glioblastoma cell line U-87 MG glycolysis

Gliomas are the most common type of malignant brain tumors. Standard treatment of gliomas consists of surgical excision of the tumor with subsequent chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Tumor cells are characterized by rapid division with an increased uptake of glucose and its catabolism during glycolysis. To maintain rapid division, the level of glycolysis of the tumor cell is significantly increased, compared with normal cells. It is known that some nanoparticles (NP) have the property of accumulating in tumors. In particular, NPs of manganese oxide can penetrate into the brain and, with considerable accumulation, cause toxic effects. These facts served as a prerequisite for studying the effects of manganese oxide NPs on the viability of glioma cells. The purpose of this work was to study the effects of manganese oxide NPs, as well as their combination with gamma irradiation on the glycolysis of glioma cells. The cells were irradiated using the research radiobiological gamma-installation IGUR-1 based on 137Cs. The level of cell glycolysis was determined using the standard glycolytic stress test on a Seahorse XFp platform. Cell viability was determined using the ViaCount reagent staining of living and dead cells. Their count was performed using flow cytometry. We showed that the glycolysis of U-87 MG glioma cells was significantly reduced when incubated for 48 hours with manganese oxide NPs. Irradiation in combination with NPs or alone did not have significant effects on glycolysis of gliomas. Glioma incubation with manganese oxide NPs for 72 hours led to a significant reduction in cell viability. This study may be useful for the development of new therapies and diagnosis of gliomas
