Electron-phonon vertex and its influence on the superconductivity of two-dimensional metals on a piezoelectric substrate

We investigate the interaction between the electrons of a two-dimensional metal and the acoustic phonons of an underlying piezoelectric substrate. Fundamental inequalities can be obtained from general energy arguments. As a result, phonon mediated attraction can be proven to never overcome electron Coulomb repulsion, at least for long phonon wavelengths. We study the influence of these phonons on the possible pairing instabilities of a two-dimensional electron gas such as graphene.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure

OpenZmeter: An Efficient Low-Cost Energy Smart Meter and Power Quality Analyzer

Power quality and energy consumption measurements support providers and energy users with solutions for acquiring and reporting information about the energy supply for residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. In particular, since the average number of electronic devices in homes increases year by year and their sensitivity is very high, it is not only important to monitor the total energy consumption, but also the quality of the power supplied. However, in practice, end-users do not have information about the energy consumption in real-time nor about the quality of the power they receive, because electric energy meters are too expensive and complex to be handled. In order to overcome these inconveniences, an innovative, open source, low-cost, precise, and reliable power and electric energy meter is presented that can be easily installed and managed by any inexperienced user at their own home in urban or rural areas. The system was validated in a real house over a period of two weeks, showing interesting results and findings which validate our proposal

UML Profile and Extensions for Complex Approval Systems with Complementary Levels of Abstraction

AbstractExtending the Unified Modelling Language (UML) version 2.0 with a profile and stereotypes that allow the modelling of an approval system with multiple levels, each with inherently dualistic complementarity, allows the high-fidelity characterization of the stacked levels of a real world approval hierarchy. The objective was to extend UML to model the complex, emergent and multi-level decision making which occurs within modern multi- disciplinary projects. At any level of abstraction, the logical and concrete processes of that level allow a consideration of local factors and decisions, generating and establishing a qualitative conclusion as the result. The high degree of certainly in the result creates the absoluteness of the qualitative conclusion, which can then be fed up or down one level of abstraction in order to take part in the local decision making at that level. The profile was applied to ground-breaking and ongoing engineering investigation concerning the expansion of a student busing system as it is proposed to be integrated into a city-wide busing system, where the student busing system can be considered to be a sub-system to the city-wide busing system, but in reality it is a self-standing, independent and complete system in its own right

Desde la década de los 90’ cuando aún en ciernes se maduraban las Reformas de los diferentes Estados para afrontar la corriente Neo-liberal, Colombia asume el reto de reformarse y con él, el sector social más sensible para mantener la capacidad productiva intacta: El sector salud. Se impulsa en consecuencia la conocida Ley 100 y sus artículos reglamentarios llevando al Sistema Sanitario de un modelo de subsidio a la oferta (envío de los recursos directamente para financiar los servicios de salud ofertados) a uno de subsidio a la demanda (los recursos se destinan a cubrir los costos de la afiliación de los usuarios) y con ellos, la pérdida de la obligatoriedad del Estado de enviar los dineros a los Prestadores de servicios. Invita a públicos y privados a formar parte de un mercado abierto, competitivo, en igualdad de condiciones y en un mercado capaz de efectuar la depuración de sus participantes en función de la satisfacción de los usuarios, los resultados sociales y ante todo, los rendimientos económicos. Y la herramienta que ordena el proceso planificador de recursos en ambas organizaciones (públicas y privadas) se llama la Nota Técnica. El presente documento explica sus características, su alcance así como su aplicación y utilidad en el diario devenir de las organizaciones sanitarias (hospitalarias y ambulatorias) en el escenario de competencia empresarial propuesto por la Seguridad Social en Salud
