Abstract Program Slicing: an Abstract Interpretation-based approach to Program Slicing
In the present paper we formally define the notion of abstract program
slicing, a general form of program slicing where properties of data are
considered instead of their exact value. This approach is applied to a language
with numeric and reference values, and relies on the notion of abstract
dependencies between program components (statements).
The different forms of (backward) abstract slicing are added to an existing
formal framework where traditional, non-abstract forms of slicing could be
compared. The extended framework allows us to appreciate that abstract slicing
is a generalization of traditional slicing, since traditional slicing (dealing
with syntactic dependencies) is generalized by (semantic) non-abstract forms of
slicing, which are actually equivalent to an abstract form where the identity
abstraction is performed on data.
Sound algorithms for computing abstract dependencies and a systematic
characterization of program slices are provided, which rely on the notion of
agreement between program states
On the GIT stability of linear systems of hypersurfaces in projective space
We consider the problem of classifying linear systems of hypersurfaces (of a
fixed degree) in some projective space up to projective equivalence via
geometric invariant theory (GIT). We provide an explicit criterion that solves
the problem completely. As an application, we consider a few relevant geometric
examples recovering, for instance, Miranda's description of the GIT stability
of pencils of plane cubics. Furthermore, we completely describe the GIT
stability of Halphen pencils of any index.Comment: 23 pages. References update
Introducing New Node Prediction in Graph Mining: Predicting All Links from Isolated Nodes with Graph Neural Networks
This paper introduces a new problem in the field of graph mining and social
network analysis called new node prediction. More technically, the task can be
categorized as zero-shot out-of-graph all-links prediction. This challenging
problem aims to predict all links from a new, isolated, and unobserved node
that was previously disconnected from the graph. Unlike classic approaches to
link prediction (including few-shot out-of-graph link prediction), this problem
presents two key differences: (1) the new node has no existing links from which
to extract patterns for new predictions; and (2) the goal is to predict not
just one, but all the links of this new node, or at least a significant part of
them. Experiments demonstrate that an architecture based on Deep Graph Neural
Networks can learn to solve this challenging problem in a bibliographic

Reachability-based acyclicity analysis by Abstract Interpretation
In programming languages with dynamic use of memory, such as Java, knowing that a reference variable x points to an acyclic data structure is valuable for the analysis of termination and resource usage (e.g., execution time or memory consumption). For instance, this information guarantees that the depth of the data structure to which x points is greater than the depth of the data structure
pointed to by x.f for any field f of x. This, in turn, allows bounding the number of iterations of a loop which traverses the structure by its depth, which is essential in order to prove the termination or infer the resource usage of the loop. The present paper provides an Abstract-Interpretation-based formalization of a static analysis for inferring acyclicity, which works on the reduced product of
two abstract domains: reachability, which models the property that the location pointed to by a variable w can be reached by dereferencing another variable v (in this case, v is said to reach w); and cyclicity, modeling the property that v can point to a cyclic data structure. The analysis is proven to be sound and optimal with respect to the chosen abstraction
A influência do Banco Mundial na polÃtica educacional do Estado do Paraná
This article discusses the influence of the World Bank regarding the educational policies implemented in the State of Paraná. Thus, the Projeto Qualidade da Educação Básica (Quality of Basic Education Project) in Paraná, approved in 1994, and the Projeto Multissetorial para o Desenvolvimento do Paraná (Multi-sector Project) for the Development of Paraná, instituted in 2012, stand out. The education project disseminated by this international organization is sustained and negotiated according to the interests of the internal policy of Paraná and incorporates aspects of the business field, resulting in the intensification of evaluative processes, the search for efficiency and effectiveness, and the participation and accountability of the subjects in favor of better results.Este artÃculo pretende presentar la influencia del Banco Mundial en las polÃticas educativas implementadas en el Estado de Paraná. Benefits and costs of additive manufacturing applications: an evaluation guideline
With an ever growing diffusion of additive manufacturing (AM) system in industrial and consumer level, as well as the direct and indirect dynamics which are being introduced resulting from its inclusion as a viable production system on companies’ portfolio, the need to reconfigure production system and adapt the production line becomes even more relevant than before. There are several studies which have emphasized on the importance of a paradigm shift in order to exploit advantages of AM, not only considering design and functionality of the product but also with regards to its impact on the entire value chain reconfiguration. Thus, it is of crucial importance to take into consideration that for this shift to be feasible and manageable, it needs to include both technical and managerial aspects of manufacturing. This work proposes a new perspective to provide a guideline for the proper evaluation of AM implementation from a holistic viewpoint. Starting from a priori analysis, the authors provide a three-steps evaluation guideline, thanks to which companies interested in additive manufacturing could verify both technical and economical feasibility of its implementation, comparing it to the conventional subtractive techniques. The proposed guideline is tested in real case study, which the main results are shown in section 5
