The aim of this work was to develop validate a dissolution test for Methyldopa and Hydrochlorothiazide in combination tablets using spectrophotometric method. The dissolution established conditions were 900 mL of 0.1M HCl pH 1.0 as dissolution medium, using a paddle apparatus at a stirring rate of 50 rpm. The drug release was evaluated by UV spectrophotometric method the areas of solution were recorded at 274-284 nm and266-276 nm for Methyldopa and Hydrochlorothiazide respectively. It can be concluded that the method developed consists in an efficient alternative for assay of dissolution for tablets. The method was validated to meet requirements for a global regulatory filing which includes linearity, precision, accuracy robustness and ruggedness. In addition, filter suitability and drug stability in medium were demonstrated Keywords: In vitro release, Stability, Dissolution study of methyldopa and Hydrochlorothiazide, Spectrophotometry, Area under curve method, Validation

Do female board directors deter private information trading? : evidence from the U.S. market

This file was last viewed in Adobe Acrobat Pro.Based on gender socialization theory, this study provides empirical evidence on the association between female board representation and opportunistic insider trading. More specifically, the study argues that female directors’ morality and risk-aversion traits set the tone at the top that deters insiders from trading on private information. The study found that female board representation on a company’s board has a negative and statistically significant impact on opportunistic insider trading. The main finding is robust to heterogeneity concerns, selection bias, alternative measures, alternative model specifications, reverse causality, and omitted variable bias. The study also employed difference-in-differences (DiD) and advanced machine learning approach to confirm the causality argument that female board representation is a significant predictor of opportunistic insider trading. The study also found that the negative effect of female board representation on opportunistic insider trading becomes less important in firms with strong governance and high managerial risk aversion, which suggests that female board representation substitutes the role of governance and risk aversion mechanisms in a firm

Displacement-based seismic performance evaluation and vulnerability assessment of buildings: the N2 method revisited

    No full text
The so-called N2 method is a widely used nonlinear static method for the seismic design and/or assessment of different building typologies. In this paper, the idea of reversing the so-called N2 method currently adopted in the Annex B of Eurocode 8 (the code on which the present paper is based) in a direct displacement-based procedure is presented in a simple alternative format. In this way, it is possible to obtain the percentage of the seismic action associated to any performance displacement. By doing so, it is also possible to determine the target displacement without the need for an iterative procedure. The proposed method presents several advantages for professional engineering practice in respect to the seismic vulnerability assessment of new and existing buildings. The comparison of the original N2 method with the proposed one is illustrated by means of a test structure example.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
