    APPLICATION OF REMOTE SENSING AND FRACTAL MODELING IN IDENTIFYING THE ALTERATION ZONES IN MUTEH COMPLEX- CENTRAL IRAN

    Muteh complex is located in the Northeast of the Golpayegan city and in the middle part of Sanandaj-Sirjan metamorphic complex. The host rock is mostly Schist and Gneisses, that are intruded and altered by younger granitic units. Gold mineralization is attributed to pyritic materials in host rock, that after leaching and destruction into Fe-hydroxides under the process of Alunitization, the gold related materials would be released and its grade in the altered rock units grows up. Three types of pyrite are present in the samples. The first generation of pyrite is parallel to the host rock schistosity. The second generation is perpendicular to the host rock schistosity and third generation is in fractures. Structurally high grade of the Au has accorded in places where conjugated faults with northwest to southeast trend are presents. The alteration type of area was identified by Spectral Angle Mapper(SAM) method and then have been classified by Number-Size(N-S) fractal method: also conjugate faults were extracted by using ETM+ satellite images and then classified by Concentration- Area fractal method. the most parts of alterated areas and gold mineralization related to these conjugated faults; XRD analysis, confirm the remote sensing method results and fire assay analysis is used for determining gold concentration in these areas.O complexo Muteh está localizado no nordeste da cidade de Golpayegan e na parte central do complexo metamórfico Sanandaj-Sirjan. A rocha hospedeira é principalmente xisto e gnaisse, que são intrometidos e alterados por unidades graníticas mais jovens. A mineralização do ouro é atribuída aos materiais piríticos nas rochas hospedeiras, que após a lixiviação e a destruição dos hidróxidos de Fe sob o processo de alunização, os materiais relacionados ao ouro seriam liberados e seu grau nas unidades de rochas alteradas aumentaria. Três tipos de pirita estão presentes nas amostras. A primeira geração de pirita é paralela à esquistose da rocha hospedeira. A segunda geração é perpendicular à esquistose da rocha hospedeira e a terceira geração está em fraturas. Estruturalmente, o alto grau da Au é concedido em locais onde estão presentes falhas conjugadas com tendência noroeste a sudeste. O tipo de alteração da área foi identificado pelo método Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM) e, em seguida, foi classificado pelo método fractal Número-Tamanho (N-S): também foram extraídas falhas conjugadas usando imagens de satélite ETM + e depois classificadas pelo método fractal Concentração-Área. a maior parte das áreas alteradas e a mineralização de ouro relacionadas a essas falhas conjugadas; A análise de DRX, confirma os resultados do método de sensoriamento remoto e a análise de ensaio de incêndio é usada para determinar a concentração de ouro nessas áreas

    A 37-year-old male was referred to us about one hour after deliberate ingestion of two 3-gram aluminium phosphide (ALP) tablets. Three hours after admission, his blood pressure dropped to 85/55 mmHg, his heart rate increased to 120 bpm, O2 saturation dropped to 82 %, and the electrocardiogram showed junctional rhythm. We started whole blood exchange, and gross haematuria and jaundice ensued. However, his blood pressure increased, arrhythmia resolved itself, and he was extubated two days after the transfusion was completed. He was sent home seven days after admission completely symptom-free. We believe this treatment may be successfully applied in ALP-poisoned patients.Muškarac star 37 godina primljen je u naš centar za otrovanja približno jedan sat nakon što je namjerno progutao dvije 3-gramske tablete aluminijeva fosfida. Tri sata poslije krvni mu je tlak pao na 85/55 mmHg, broj otkucaja srca porastao na 120 u minuti, a zasićenje kisikom palo na 82 %. Nije odgovarao na konvencionalno liječenje. Na elektrokardiogramu se vidio nodalni ritam. Započet je postupak zamjene pune krvi, što je dovelo do pojave krvi u mokraći i do žutice. Krvni je tlak nakon postupka porastao, aritmija je prestala, a pacijent je ekstubiran dva dana nakon svršetka zamjene krvi. Otpušten je kući bez ikakvih simptoma sedam dana nakon prijema. Vjerujemo da bi ovakav način obrade mogao biti uspješan u liječenju otrovanja aluminijevim fosfidom

    Association of Serum Vitamin D Level and Serum Lipids Profile

    Introduction: High level of vitamin D is associated with a better health status. The role of vitamin D deficiency in the incidence of cardiovascular events is demonstrated in previous studies. The current study aimed at evaluating the effect of vitamin D supplement therapy on serum lipids profile, as a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases.Methods: The current prospective cohort study included 221 patients admitted to a university hospital from March 2014 to March 2015. The baseline levels of the patients' serum vitamin D and lipid profile of the study subjects were recorded. After three months treatment with vitamin D, the patients' serum vitamin D level and lipid profile were re-evaluated. The results before and after the supplement therapy were compared using statistical methods.Results: The mean age of the patients was 48.2 ± 14.0 years. The mean vitamin D level was 21.0 ± 16.6 ng/mL at baseline, which increased to 35.8 ± 32.7 ng/mL (P = 0.001) after a three-month vitamin D supplement therapy. Mean low-density lipoprotein (LDL) decreased from 112.1 ± 30.0 to 98.7 ± 31.7 mg/dL (P = 0.003) after the supplement therapy. Mean high-density lipoprotein (HDL) increased from 42.8 ± 11.2 to 44.5 ± 9.0 mg/dL, but the difference was insignificant before and after the treatment (P = 0.2). Mean cholesterol reduced from 183.8 ± 42.3 to 169.5 ± 41.9 mg/dL (P = 0.02) and the mean TG dropped from 147.5 ± 98.7 to 134.7 ± 71.1 mg/dL, (P = 0.1) after vitamin D intake.Conclusions: The mean levels of LDL and cholesterol significantly decreased during the three-month intervention; in addition, although some changes were observed in the level of HDL and TG, the differences were statistically insignificant. Further studies on larger sample sizes and longer follow-ups are recommended

    Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) due to methadone (MTD) toxicity is a known but rather uncommon phenomenon. In most of the previously reported cases of MTD-related ARDS, MTD was ingested orally in the form of tablets in high or unknown amounts. Despite the findings from the available literature, this case report is aimed at demonstrating that even small amounts of MTD syrup can cause ARDS earlier than it is usually expected. We present a non-addicted MTD-overdosed patient who developed ARDS after ingesting a very small amount of MTD syrup. We suggest close monitoring of MTD-overdosed patients from at least 48 h to 72 h for possible respiratory complications such as pulmonary oedema.Akutni respiratorni distres sindrom (ARDS) uzrokovan toksičnošću metadona (MTD) poznat je ali rijedak fenomen. U većini dosadašnjih slučajeva ARDS-a uzrokovanog MTD-om, MTD je konzumiran u obliku tableta te u velikoj ili nepoznatoj količini. Unatoč nalazima dostupne literature, ovaj prikaz slučaja dokazuje kako čak i mala količina sirupa MTD-a može uzrokovati ARDS, i to ranije nego što bi se očekivalo. Obrađen je slučaj pacijentice koja nije bila ovisnica, a oboljela je od ARDS-a nakon konzumacije tek male količine sirupa MTD-a. Predlažemo pomnije praćenje pacijenata predoziranih MTD-om od najmanje 48 sati do 72 sata usmjereno na detekciju respiratornih komplikacija poput plućnih edema

    A systematic review of the cardiotoxicity of methadone

    Methadone is one of the most popular synthetic opioids in the world with some favorable properties making it useful both in the treatment of moderate to severe pain and for opioid addiction. Increased use of methadone has resulted in an increased prevalence of its toxicity, one aspect of which is cardiotoxicity. In this paper, we review the effects of methadone on the heart as well as cardiac concerns in some special situations such as pregnancy and childhood. Methods: We searched for the terms methadone, toxicity, poisoning, cardiotoxicity, heart, dysrhythmia, arrhythmia, QT interval prolongation, torsade de pointes, and Electrocardiogram (ECG) in bibliographical databases including TUMS digital library, PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. This review includes relevant articles published between 2000 and 2013. The main cardiac effects of methadone include prolongation of QT interval and torsade de pointes. Other effects include changes in QT dispersion, pathological U waves, Taku-Tsubo syndrome (stress cardiomyopathy), Brugada-like syndrome, and coronary artery diseases. The aim of this paper is to inform physicians and health care staff about these adverse effects. Effectiveness of methadone in the treatment of pain and addiction should be weighed against these adverse effects and physicians should consider the ways to lessen such undesirable effects. This article presents some recommendations to prevent heart toxicity in methadone users

    Evaluation of anti-cancer effect of Peganum harmala L hydroalcholic extract on human cervical carcinoma epithelial cell line

    زمینه و هدف: سرطان دهانه رحم دومین سرطان شایع در زنان می باشد. اسپند گیاهی طبی بوده و یکی از فراورده های بومی به کار رفته جهت درمان سرطان در ایران می باشد. این گیاه دارای خواص ضد باکتریایی، ضد سرطانی، ضد قارچ، ضد زخم معده می باشد. این مطالعه با هدف بررسی اثر ضد سرطانی عصاره ی هیدروالکلی دانه گیاه اسپند انجام شده است. روش بررسی: در این مطالعه تجربی پس از کشت و تکثیر سلول های مشتق شده از بافت اپیتلیال گردن رحم انسان (HeLa)، این سلول ها در مجاورت دوزهای مختلف عصاره هیدروالکلی دانه اسپند (5/12،25،50 و g/mlµ 100) قرار گرفتند و به مدت 24،48 و 72 ساعت انکوبه شدند. پس از پایان مدت انکوباسیون، از روش تغییر یافته آزمون رنگ سنجی MTT (3- (4 و 5 دی متیل تیازول 2- ایل)-2،5 - دی فنیل تترازولیوم برماید) جهت تعیین سمیت سلولی عصاره استفاده شد. یافته ها: نتایج حاصل از تست MTT نشان داد که این عصاره اثر ضد سرطانی وابسته به دوز و زمان بر سلول های HeLa دارد، به طوری که با افزایش غلظت عصاره و انکوباسیون 72 ساعت بیشترین درصد مرگ سلولی مشاهده شد (001/0>P). غلظت مهارکنندگی 50 درصد رشد سلول ها (IC50) برای سلول های سرطانی در زمان 24 ساعت g/mlµ 5/12 به دست آمد. نتیجه گیری: عصاره اسپند با اثر وابسته به دوز و زمان بر سلول های سرطانی HeLa می تواند باعث مهار رشد این سلول ها شود؛ لذا به نظر می رسد با تحقیقات بیشتر در آینده، می توان از ترکیبات آن در درمان سرطان بهره جست

    Effect of Addiction to Computer Games on Physical and Mental Health of Female and Male Students of Guidance School in City of Isfahan

    Abstract Background: This study aimed to investigate the effects of addiction to computer games on physical and mental health of students. Methods: The study population includes all students in the second year of public guidance schools in the city of Isfahan in the educational year of 2009-2010. The sample size includes 564 students selected by multiple steps stratified sampling.  Dependent variables include general health in dimensions of physical health, anxiety and sleeplessness and impaired social functioning. Data were collected using General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28) scale and a questionnaire on addiction to computer games. Pearson's correlation coefficient and structural model were used for data analysis. Findings: There was a significant positive correlation between students' computer games addiction and their physical and mental health in dimensions of physical health, anxiety and sleeplessness There was a significant negative relationship between addictions to computer games and impaired social functioning. Conclusion: The results of this study are in agreement with the findings of other studies around the world. As the results show, addiction to computer games affects various dimensions of health and increases physical problems, anxiety and depression, while decreases social functioning disorder.
