The usage of agricultural waste in form of ashes as one of the constituent materials in concrete has been studied in recent years. Palm Oil Fuel Ash (POFA) is one of the largest agricultural wastes produced in Malaysia that contain high amount of silica with pozzolanic properties. The mass production of POFA are typically disposed to open area and in turn can generate environmental issues and health hazards. Due to the waste disposal problem, a number of initiatives have been done by utilizing POFA into various construction materials including as substitute to Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) in concrete production. This paper discusses on the water absorption properties and compressive strength of concrete by utilizing POFA in several series of cement replacement. OPC was replaced by POFA at 2.5%, 5%,7.5% and 10% in these series of mix design. Control OPC concrete sample was also prepared for comparison. The samples were prepared in 100 mm cubic moulds and tested for compressive strength and water absorption for 7, 14 and 28-day curing ages. Three replicates were prepared for each concrete mix and for each test conducted. The results stipulated that the higher percentage of POFA replacement decreased the compressive strength and increased the water absorption amount of concrete mixture over different concrete ages

Malaysia Government mission towards development of low carbon cities in reducing carbon emission by 40% by year 2020. Therefore, our construction industry plays an important role and gives negative impacts on the environment. Factors of embodied energy and carbon emission are important in selecting construction method by considering the low carbon type of construction material to be used during the construction process. This paper presents an analysis of Embodied Energy and carbon emission in a building that used IBS and conventional method to achieve sustainable construction in Malaysia. All data was recorded and analyse using a commercial Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tool called Carbon Calculator. The study includes IBS component; precast concrete wall panel, column, beam and half slab and cast in situ components; burn clay bricks, reinforced concrete slab, column, and beam. The results are presented in terms of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2E) of construction materials and comparison analysis is made between IBS and Conventional method. The results obtained from Carbon Calculator due to manufacture and installation of components show a that IBS method consumed 26.93 CO2E/m2 and conventional method offers 39.57 CO2E/m2. By comparing IBS and conventional method, it is found that the average of total energy consumption due to construction materials was 33.25 CO2E/m2 and involved 31.94% reduction in comparison with conventional method. Therefore, for further building construction’s practice in relation to type of construction method it is recommended to be below the average amount of energy consumption 33.25 CO2E/m2 (50%) and any values obtained above the average amount is considered not being able to adopt sustainable building practice. Generally, it can be concluded that implementation of IBS method can be regard as a potential in reducing the amount of embodied energy and carbon emission compared to conventional method

Today, there is a growing research study of IEEE 802.11p as one of option to help the drivers to travel more safely.Message dissemination protocols are primordial for safety vehicular applications. Periodic safety message (PSM) and Warning safety message (WSM) are two types of safety messages which may be exchanged between vehicles. In this paper we investigate the feasibility of deploying safety applications based on periodic message dissemination through simulation study with safety requirements as our priority concern.Vehicles are supposed to issue these messages constantly to inform their neighboring vehicles about their current status and use received messages for preventing possible unsafe situations on time. As reliability is the main concern in periodic message dissemination, a new metric called TGFD (Time Gap Following Distance) is defined which gives us more accurate benchmark for evaluating QoS in safety applications specifically. Thus, in order to improve the performance, the effective transmission TGFD studied
