Algorithm BIDIMS for Automated Systematization of Data Array. Case Study: Rediscovering Mendeleev’s Periodic Table of Chemical Elements
The method (algorithm BIDIMS) of multivariate objects display to bidimensional structure in which the
sum of differences of objects properties and their nearest neighbors is minimal is being described. The basic
regularities on the set of objects at this ordering become evident. Besides, such structures (tables) have high
inductive opportunities: many latent properties of objects may be predicted on their coordinates in this table.
Opportunities of a method are illustrated on an example of bidimentional ordering of chemical elements. The table
received in result practically coincides with the periodic Mendeleev table
(The article is dedicated to studying of the letters of V.Stous as a phenomenon of epistolary creation. His correspondence from the exile are important document of the second part of the twenties century. All the particularities of his individuality are represented in the letters. So we can trace history of Ukrainian literature too.
XXII International Conference on Chemical Reactors - Editorial
The XXII International Conference on Chemical Reactors, CHEMREACTOR-22, was organized by the Boreskov Institute of Catalysis of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, Russia, together with University College London (UCL), UK. The conference took place during 19-23 September 2016 in London, and was held under the auspices of the European Federation of the Chemical Engineering (EFCE).
The conference brought together about 200 researchers and engineers from 30 countries all over the world. As in previous editions of CHEMREACTOR, the conference was devoted to fundamental aspects and practical application of catalytic processes and chemical reactors, as well as to the development of novel technologies in this area.
The scientific program of the conference included 6 plenary lectures, 9 keynote lectures, 68 oral and 100 poster presentations on the following topics
Photoluminescent properties of crystalline solid solution Zn₁₋ xMgxSe:Cr²⁺, a new active material for tunable IR lasers
Considered in this work are the luminescent properties of new active material Zn₁₋xMgxSe :Cr²⁺ for tunable IR lasers. Measured in Zn₀.₇₅Mg₀.₂₅Se : Cr²⁺ is the spectrum of IR luminescence excitation, and shown is the possibility of excitation in the visible spectral range. It is established that the luminescence band maximum is shifted by
approximately 200 nm in comparison with that of ZnSe:Cr²⁺. Presented are the measured time characteristics of photoluminescence excited in the visible (550 nm) and IR (1800 nm) spectral regions
Teaching english vocabulary online: is the screen a barrier?
This paper presents mixed-method research on teaching vocabulary online using a combination of quantitative (bibliometric approach) and qualitative (expert evaluation based on Delphi technique) methods to answer three research questions: Which tools in teaching language with technology have been described in research publications? Which tools are frequently addressed in EFL Methodology course in Ukrainian universities for teaching vocabulary online? Which tools and methods require more information for teaching vocabulary online? To answer the first research question, the authors have used a bibliometric approach to analyse the topic-related articles in the eight most relevant journals from the Scopus Database between 2011 and 2020. The authors have encountered few literature review articles tracking the developments in this research area and no articles using bibliometric methods or science maps. After finalising and structuring the bibliometric analysis data, the authors have used the Delphi method with the British Council experts who were involved in the New Generation School Teacher Project. The experts who are EFL Methodology teachers at 7 Ukrainian Universities have shared their experience in using the tools identified by the bibliometric analysis and listed the usability precedency and hurdles with their recommendations. The experts assisted in answering the research questions about the tools addressed in the EFL methodology course and those that require some consideration. As a result, the findings are collated and shared with EFL teachers, and they can gain valuable insights into the current state of the research and practice in this area. In the discussion part, the authors familiarise EFL teachers with the newest resources that provide information about the understudied areas
Computational analysis of gene expression space associated with metastatic cancer

Abstract

Background

Prostate carcinoma is among the most common types of cancer affecting hundreds of thousands people every year. Once the metastatic form of prostate carcinoma is documented, the majority of patients die from their tumors as opposed to other causes. The key to successful treatment is in the earliest possible diagnosis, as well as understanding the molecular mechanisms of metastatic progression. A number of recent studies have identified multiple biomarkers for metastatic progression. However, most of the studies consider only direct comparison between metastatic and non-metastatic classes of samples.

Results

We propose an alternative concept of analysis that considers the entire multidimensional space of gene expression and identifies the partition of this space in which metastatic development is possible. To apply this concept in cancer gene expression studies we utilize a modification of high-dimension natural taxonomy algorithm FOREL. Our analysis of microarray data containing primary and metastatic cancer samples has revealed not only differentially expressed genes, but also relations between different groups of primary and metastatic cancer. Metastatic samples tend to occupy a distinct partition of gene expression space. Further pathway analysis suggests that this partition is delineated by a specific pattern of gene expression in cytoskeleton remodeling, cell adhesion and apoptosis/cell survival pathways. We compare our findings with both report of original analysis and recent studies in molecular mechanism of metastasis.

Conclusion

Our analysis indicates a single molecular mechanism of metastasis. The new approach does not contradict previously reported findings, but reveals important details unattainable with traditional methodology.</p
Application of Mathematical Modeling for Optimization of Linear Alkylbenzenes Sulphonation Modes in Film Reactor
The methodological aspects of development and application of mathematical modeling system for optimization of multistage petrochemical production on the example of linear alkylbenzene sulphuric acids obtaining complex processes at LLC “KINEF” were reviewed. It was shown that creation of mathematical modeling system includes a sequence of reaction network development stages, reactor kinetic modeling, model theoretical and experimental studies, studying regularities of reactor modes and proposing recommendations for raw material composition improving
