    A Cognitive-based scheme for user reliability and expertise assessment in Q&A social networks

    Q&A social media has gained a great deal of attention during recent years. People rely on these sites to obtain information due to the number of advantages they offer as compared to conventional sources of knowledge (e.g., asynchronous and convenient access). However, for the same question one may find highly contradictory answers, causing ambiguity with respect to the correct information. This can be attributed to the presence of unreliable and/or non-expert users. In this work, we propose a novel approach for estimating the reliability and expertise of a user based on human cognitive traits. Every user can individually estimate these values based on local pairwise interactions. We examine the convergence performance of our algorithm and we find that it can accurately assess the reliability and the expertise of a user and can successfully react to the latter's behavior change. © 2011 IEEE

    Collaborative assessment of information provider's reliability and expertise using subjective logic

    Q&A social media have gained a lot of attention during the recent years. People rely on these sites to obtain information due to a number of advantages they offer as compared to conventional sources of knowledge (e.g., asynchronous and convenient access). However, for the same question one may find highly contradicting answers, causing an ambiguity with respect to the correct information. This can be attributed to the presence of unreliable and/or non-expert users. These two attributes (reliability and expertise) significantly affect the quality of the answer/information provided. We present a novel approach for estimating these user's characteristics relying on human cognitive traits. In brief, we propose each user to monitor the activity of her peers (on the basis of responses to questions asked by her) and observe their compliance with predefined cognitive models. These observations lead to local assessments that can be further fused to obtain a reliability and expertise consensus for every other user in the social network (SN). For the aggregation part we use subjective logic. To the best of our knowledge this is the first study of this kind in the context of Q&A SN. Our proposed approach is highly distributed; each user can individually estimate the expertise and the reliability of her peers using her direct interactions with them and our framework. The online SN (OSN), which can be considered as a distributed database, performs continuous data aggregation for users expertise and reliability assessment in order to reach a consensus. We emulate a Q&A SN to examine various performance aspects of our algorithm (e.g., convergence time, responsiveness etc.). Our evaluations indicate that it can accurately assess the reliability and the expertise of a user with a small number of samples and can successfully react to the latter's behavior change, provided that the cognitive traits hold in practice. © 2011 ICST

    The paper is devoted to the issues related to nonlinear dynamics of controlled intensive charged particle beams. Study the beams possessing exceptionally large inherent fields and extreme high impulse intensity and energy calls for new cybernetic approaches aimed to developing controlling algorithm of optimal behavior. We describe the beam distribution in particle accelerations (a Vlasov-Maxwell scheme) in the framework of differential games and control problem. This paper proposes an optimal approach for the well-known partial differential equation of Vlasov involving semi-group contraction and dissipative operators in Hilbert space.Статья посвящена нелинейной динамике управления интенсивными пучками заряженных частиц. Мы описываем распределение пучка при ускорении частиц (схема Власова-Максвелла) в системе дифференциальных игр и проблемы управления. Эта работа предлагает оптимальный подход для хорошо известного дифференциального уравнения Власова в частных производных, использующий полугрупповую контракцию и диссипативные операторы в гильбертовом пространстве.Стаття присвячена нелінійній динаміці керування інтенсивними пучками заряджених частинок. Ми описуємо розподіл пучка при прискоренні частинок (схема Власова-Максвелла) у системі диференційних ігор та проблеми керування. Ця робота пропонує оптимальний підхід для добре відомого диференційного рівняння Власова у частинних похідних, що застосовує напівгрупову контракцію та дисипативні оператори в гільбертовому просторі

    In this paper, we consider 3-dimensional Vlasov-Poisson system and study their qualitative properties of globalin-time solutions from the point of view integrability, stability, and optimality using the concept of special constructed integral equations and the Lyapunov direct method. We provide criteria that guarantee the existence of solution for the above mentioned properties By using this approach we reduce the problem of the charged-particle beam transport, in particular, focusing with acceleration, to a problem of optimal control of dynamic system.В этой работе мы рассматриваем 3-х мерную систему уравнений Власова-Пуассона и изучаем качественные свойства их глобальных во времени решений с точки зрения интегрируемости, устойчивости и оптимальности использования концепции специально сконструированных интегральных уравнений и прямого метода Ляпунова. Мы приводим критерии, которые гарантируют существование решения для вышеупомянутых свойств. Благодаря использованию этого подхода мы свели проблему транспорта пучка заряженных частиц, в частности, фокусировку с ускорением к задаче оптимального управления динамической системой.В цій роботі ми розглядаємо 3-и вимірну систему рівнянь Власова-Пуассона та вивчаємо якісні властивості їх глобальних за часом розв’язків з точки зору інтегрованості, стійкості і оптимальності використання концепції спеціально сконструйованих інтегральних рівнянь та прямого методу Ляпунова. Ми приводимо критерії, котрі гарантують існування розв’язків для вищезазначених властивостей. Завдяки застосуванню цього підходу ми звели проблему транспорту пучка заряджених частинок, зокрема, фокусування з прискоренням до задачі оптимального керування динамічною системою

    Structural and electrical transport properties of superconducting Au{0.7}In{0.3} films: A random array of superconductor-normal metal-superconductor (SNS) Josephson junctions

    The structural and superconducting properties of Au{0.7}In{0.3} films, grown by interdiffusion of alternating Au and In layers, have been studied. The films were found to consist of a uniform solid solution of Au{0.9}In{0.1}, with excess In precipitated in the form of In-rich grains of various Au-In phases (with distinct atomic compositions), including intermetallic compounds. As the temperature was lowered, these individual grains became superconducting at a particular transition temperature (Tc), determined primarily by the atomic composition of the grain, before a fully superconducting state of zero resistance was established. From the observed onset Tc, it was inferred that up to three different superconducting phases could have formed in these Au{0.7}In{0.3} films, all of which were embedded in a uniform Au{0.9}In{0.1} matrix. Among these phases, the Tc of a particular one, 0.8 K, is higher than any previously reported for the Au-In system. The electrical transport properties were studied down to low temperatures. The transport results were found to be well correlated with those of the structural studies. The present work suggests that Au{0.7}In{0.3} can be modeled as a random array of superconductor-normal metal-superconductor (SNS) Josephson junctions. The effect of disorder and the nature of the superconducting transition in these Au{0.7}In{0.3} films are discussed.Comment: 8 text pages, 10 figures in one separate PDF file, submitted to PR
