Flux dynamics and vortex phase diagram of the new superconductor
Magnetic critical current density and relaxation rate have been measured on
bulks from 1.6 K to at magnetic fields up to 8 Tesla. A vortex
phase diagram is depicted based on these measurement. Two phase boundaries
and characterizing different irreversible
flux motions are found. The is characterized by the
appearance of the linear resistivity and is attributed to quantum vortex
melting induced by quantum fluctuation of vortices in the rather clean system.
The second boundary reflects the irreversible flux motion in
some local regions due to either very strong pinning or the surface barrier on

Improved Eavesdropping Detection Strategy in Quantum Direct Communication Protocol Based on Four-particle GHZ State
In order to improve the eavesdropping detection efficiency in two-step
quantum direct communication protocol, an improved eavesdropping detection
strategy using four-particle GHZ state is proposed, in which four-particle GHZ
state is used to detect eavesdroppers. During the security analysis, the method
of the entropy theory is introduced, and two detection strategies are compared
quantitatively by using the constraint between the information which
eavesdropper can obtain and the interference introduced. If the eavesdroppers
intend to obtain all information, the eavesdropping detection rate of the
original two-step quantum direct communication protocol by using EPR pair block
as detection particles is 50%; while the proposed strategy's detection rate is
88%. In the end, the security of the proposed protocol is discussed. The
analysis results show that the eavesdropping detection strategy presented is

Multiple superconducting gap and anisotropic spin fluctuations in iron arsenides: Comparison with nickel analog
We present extensive 75As NMR and NQR data on the superconducting arsenides
PrFeAs0.89F0.11 (Tc=45 K), LaFeAsO0.92F0.08 (Tc=27 K), LiFeAs (Tc = 17 K) and
Ba0.72K0.28Fe2As2 (Tc = 31.5 K) single crystal, and compare with the nickel
analog LaNiAsO0.9F0.1 (Tc=4.0 K) . In contrast to LaNiAsO0.9F0.1 where the
superconducting gap is shown to be isotropic, the spin lattice relaxation rate
1/T1 in the Fe-arsenides decreases below Tc with no coherence peak and shows a
step-wise variation at low temperatures. The Knight shift decreases below Tc
and shows a step-wise T variation as well. These results indicate spinsinglet
superconductivity with multiple gaps in the Fe-arsenides. The Fe
antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations are anisotropic and weaker compared to
underdoped copper-oxides or cobalt-oxide superconductors, while there is no
significant electron correlations in LaNiAsO0.9F0.1. We will discuss the
implications of these results and highlight the importance of the Fermi surface

Evolution and Flare Activity of Delta-Sunspots in Cycle 23
The emergence and magnetic evolution of solar active regions (ARs) of
beta-gamma-delta type, which are known to be highly flare-productive, were
studied with the SOHO/MDI data in Cycle 23. We selected 31 ARs that can be
observed from their birth phase, as unbiased samples for our study. From the
analysis of the magnetic topology (twist and writhe), we obtained the following
results. i) Emerging beta-gamma-delta ARs can be classified into three
topological types as "quasi-beta", "writhed" and "top-to-top". ii) Among them,
the "writhed" and "top-to-top" types tend to show high flare activity. iii) As
the signs of twist and writhe agree with each other in most cases of the
"writhed" type (12 cases out of 13), we propose a magnetic model in which the
emerging flux regions in a beta-gamma-delta AR are not separated but united as
a single structure below the solar surface. iv) Almost all the "writhed"-type
ARs have downward knotted structures in the mid portion of the magnetic flux
tube. This, we believe, is the essential property of beta-gamma-delta ARs. v)
The flare activity of beta-gamma-delta ARs is highly correlated not only with
the sunspot area but also with the magnetic complexity. vi) We suggest that
there is a possible scaling-law between the flare index and the maximum umbral
area
Measurements of J/psi Decays into 2(pi+pi-)eta and 3(pi+pi-)eta
Based on a sample of 5.8X 10^7 J/psi events taken with the BESII detector,
the branching fractions of J/psi--> 2(pi+pi-)eta and J/psi-->3(pi+pi-)eta are
measured for the first time to be (2.26+-0.08+-0.27)X10^{-3} and
(7.24+-0.96+-1.11)X10^{-4}, respectively.Comment: 11 pages, 6 figure
BESII Detector Simulation
A Monte Carlo program based on Geant3 has been developed for BESII detector
simulation. The organization of the program is outlined, and the digitization
procedure for simulating the response of various sub-detectors is described.
Comparisons with data show that the performance of the program is generally

Measurement of branching fractions for the inclusive Cabibbo-favored ~K*0(892) and Cabibbo-suppressed K*0(892) decays of neutral and charged D mesons
The branching fractions for the inclusive Cabibbo-favored ~K*0 and
Cabibbo-suppressed K*0 decays of D mesons are measured based on a data sample
of 33 pb-1 collected at and around the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with
the BES-II detector at the BEPC collider. The branching fractions for the
decays D+(0) -> ~K*0(892)X and D0 -> K*0(892)X are determined to be BF(D0 ->
\~K*0X) = (8.7 +/- 4.0 +/- 1.2)%, BF(D+ -> ~K*0X) = (23.2 +/- 4.5 +/- 3.0)% and
BF(D0 -> K*0X) = (2.8 +/- 1.2 +/- 0.4)%. An upper limit on the branching
fraction at 90% C.L. for the decay D+ -> K*0(892)X is set to be BF(D+ -> K*0X)
< 6.6%
Search for the Lepton Flavor Violation Processes and

searched for using a sample of 5.8 events collected with
the BESII detector. Zero and one candidate events, consistent with the
estimated background, are observed in and
decays, respectively. Upper limits on the branching ratios are determined to be
