Cost for Diesel fuel is higher in recent years have cause problem to the consumer. It is necessary to find alternative fuel that is less expensive to be used for generating power. Fuel oil is a type of fuel that has been identified as a possible alternative source of fuel to be used for diesel engine. The engine performance and exhaust emission characteristics based on Diesel fuel and medium fuel oil (MFO) mixture is the main study in this project. Beside 100% Diesel fuel, a blend of 5%MFO, 10% MFO, 15% MFO and 20% MFO are used. The suitable viscosity of fuel mixture is studied as viscosity plays important criteria for the fuel to be used in diesel engine. Engine performance and exhaust emission of all fuel blends were investigated and compared with ordinary Diesel fuel in a single cylinder diesel engine without any modification. The experimental results show that the engine power and torque are lower than the value obtained from Diesel fuel. As for exhaust emission, adding MFO do increase CO emission and particulate matter, but reduce the NOx emission. It is proven that medium fuel oil can be used as an alternative fuel for diesel engine, with some lose of the engine performance and emission characteristics

Purpose: The objective of this research is to highlight issues and review the Interbank Commodity Murabahah (CM) practice as a tool of liquidity requirement from both the Shariah and industry's operational perspectives. Accordingly, this study seeks to analyze the structure and mechanism of CM as an instrument to meet the liquidity need of Islamic financial institutions and provides an opportunity for investments. In doing so, the paper seeks to review issues related to Shariah and operations in Islamic banking. Design/methodology/approach: By interviewing with Treasurers, Shariah Scholars and funding dealers of Islamic banks in Malaysia, the study evaluates reassessment on CM practices and operational issues concerning risk and compliance. The study focuses on the Islamic Treasury Division of Islamic banks in Malaysia. Findings: The findings of the study suggest that the two most significant issues in Islamic liquidity management of Islamic banks in Malaysia are i) resembling interest ii) nature of trade-ability iii) structure of CM iv) the timing the transaction to be completed and v) the real brokerage cost involved in adopting the CM transactions. Research limitations/implications: The research proposes risk mitigation and enhanced Shariah compliance frameworks such as straight-through processing (STP) and commodity broker's standard guideline for Islamic banks to adopt CM practices. Practical implications: This study provides direction and guidance to the Islamic Commercial Banks, Commodity Brokers and regulator (BNM) involved in the banking system to reflect upon the importance to understand the issues and limitation of CM. By highlighting the importance of efficiency in terms of time and cost-saving together with Shariah issues, Islamic banks can design policies to enhance efficiency in order to either decide to maintain the adoption of CMP or to consider the proposed alternative. Social implications: Understanding the Shariah compliance and operational issues will enhance the integrity of Islamic banks, which is consistent with the Key Economic Growth Area of making Malaysia as International Islamic Financial Hub 2.0

The aim of this research is to discuss the groundwork of building an Islamic Banking Document Screening Prototype based on a serverless architecture framework. This research first forms an algorithm for document matching based Vector Space Model (VCM) and adopts Levenshtein Distance for similarity setting. Product proposals will become a query, and policy documents by the central bank will be a corpus or database for document matching. Both the query and corpus went through preprocessing stage prior to similarity analysis. One set of queries with two sets of corpora is tested in this research to compare similarity values. Finally, a prototype of Shariah Document Screening is built based on a serverless architecture framework and ReactJS interface. This research is the first attempt to introduce a Shariah document screening prototype based on a serverless architecture technology that would be useful to the Islamic financial industry towards achieving a Shariah-compliant business. Given the development of Fintech, the output of this research study would be a complement to the existing Fintech applications, which focus on ensuring the Islamic nature of the businesses
