    Dynamic Circular Network-Based Federated Dual-View Learning for Multivariate Time Series Anomaly Detection

    Multivariate time-series data exhibit intricate correlations in both temporal and spatial dimensions. However, existing network architectures often overlook dependencies in the spatial dimension and struggle to strike a balance between long-term and short-term patterns when extracting features from the data. Furthermore, industries within the business community are hesitant to share their raw data, which hinders anomaly prediction accuracy and detection performance. To address these challenges, the authors propose a dynamic circular network-based federated dual-view learning approach. Experimental results from four open-source datasets demonstrate that the method outperforms existing methods in terms of accuracy, recall, and F1_score for anomaly detection

    Factors influencing the quality of clinical trials on traditional Chinese medicineā€” Qualitative interviews with trial auditors, clinicians and academic researchers

    Background: As clinical trials evaluating the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) therapies have increased, several empirical studies have shown that the quality of TCM trials are generally low in terms of risk of bias. This qualitative study aimed to investigate the factors influencing the quality of TCM clinical trials to provide strategic advice on trial quality improvement. Methods: One focus group with clinical trial auditors (n=4) and six indepth semi-structured interviews with clinical research organization managers (n=2), lecturers and researchers in TCM academic institutions (n=2), a chief physician in a TCM oncology department and a PhD candidate specialized in non-pharmaceutical TCM interventions were conducted. The interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim and thematically analyzed. Results: Factors that influenced the quality of TCM clinical trials merged on the following 6 themes: trial design; trialists/ participants; trial conducting; TCM specified problems; trial monitoring, and finally societal influences. The lack of expertise and time inputs of the trialists were repeatedly mentioned. Methodological difficulties experienced when conducting TCM trials included calculating sample size, analyzing the efficacy of TCM decoctions with multiple ingredients, blinding in trials investigating non-pharmaceutical TCM interventions were highlighted. Interviewees agreed that third-party monitoring can help improving trial quality and improved participant welfare and may accelerate recruiting processes and increase compliance; however more comprehensive regulations and funding requirements would be needed. Conclusions: This study identified real-life issues influencing the quality of TCM clinical trials from design to reporting. In addition to mandatory training for TCM trial designers and coordinators, more effective institutional oversight is required. Future studies should explore specific measures to address the methodological problems in TCM trials and explore how the quality of TCM trials can affect further evidence synthesis and clinical practice

    Atomic Snā€“enabled high-utilization, large-capacity, and long-life Na anode

    Constructing robust nucleation sites with an ultrafine size in a confined environment is essential toward simultaneously achieving superior utilization, high capacity, and long-term durability in Na metal-based energy storage, yet remains largely unexplored. Here, we report a previously unexplored design of spatially confined atomic Sn in hollow carbon spheres for homogeneous nucleation and dendrite-free growth. The designed architecture maximizes Sn utilization, prevents agglomeration, mitigates volume variation, and allows complete alloying-dealloying with high-affinity Sn as persistent nucleation sites, contrary to conventional spatially exposed large-size ones without dealloying. Thus, conformal deposition is achieved, rendering an exceptional capacity of 16 mAh cmāˆ’2 in half-cells and long cycling over 7000 hours in symmetric cells. Moreover, the well-known paradox is surmounted, delivering record-high Na utilization (e.g., 85%) and large capacity (e.g., 8 mAh cmāˆ’2) while maintaining extraordinary durability over 5000 hours, representing an important breakthrough for stabilizing Na anode

    Case Report: Cancer spectrum and genetic characteristics of a de novo germline POLD1 p.L606M variant-induced polyposis syndrome

    Germline variations in the DNA polymerase genes, POLE and POLD1, can lead to a hereditary cancer syndrome that is characterized by frequent gastrointestinal polyposis and multiple primary malignant tumors. However, because of its rare occurrence, this disorder has not been extensively studied. In this report, we present the case of a 22-year-old female patient who had been diagnosed with gastrointestinal polyposis, breast fibroadenoma, multiple primary colorectal cancers, and glioblastoma (grade IV) within a span of 4 years. Next-generation sequencing analysis revealed a germline variant in POLD1 (c.1816C>A; p.L606M). In silico analysis using protein functional predicting software, including SIFT, Polyphen, GERP++, and CADD, further confirmed the pathogenicity of POLD1 p.L606M (classified as ACMG grade Class 4). In line with polymerase deficiency, both rectal cancer and glioblastoma tissues exhibited a high tumor mutation burden, with 16.9 muts/Mb and 347.1 muts/Mb, respectively. Interestingly, the patient has no family history of cancer, and gene examination of both parents confirms that this is a de novo germline variant. Therefore, molecular screening for POLD1 may be necessary for patients with such a cancer spectrum, regardless of their family history

    Precision Higgs physics at the CEPC

    The discovery of the Higgs boson with its mass around 125 GeV by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations marked the beginning of a new era in high energy physics. The Higgs boson will be the subject of extensive studies of the ongoing LHC program. At the same time, lepton collider based Higgs factories have been proposed as a possible next step beyond the LHC, with its main goal to precisely measure the properties of the Higgs boson and probe potential new physics associated with the Higgs boson. The Circular Electron Positron Collider~(CEPC) is one of such proposed Higgs factories. The CEPC is an e+eāˆ’e^+e^- circular collider proposed by and to be hosted in China. Located in a tunnel of approximately 100~km in circumference, it will operate at a center-of-mass energy of 240~GeV as the Higgs factory. In this paper, we present the first estimates on the precision of the Higgs boson property measurements achievable at the CEPC and discuss implications of these measurements.Comment: 46 pages, 37 figure

    The Relationship between Stress Perception and Problematic Social Network Use among Chinese College Students: The Mediating Role of the Fear of Missing Out

    Based on the interaction of person-affect-cognition-execution model, this study examined the association between stress perception and problematic social network use among Chinese college students and explored the mediating effect of the fear of missing out (FoMO) on the relationship between stress perception and problematic social network use. A questionnaire survey was conducted among 554 students from nine universities in China. We found that stress perception was significantly positively correlated with problematic social network use and FoMO (r = 0.38, 0.46; p p < 0.001). FoMO mediated the relationship between stress perception and problematic social network use. Conclusion: Stress perception has a negative impact on college studentsā€™ problematic social network use via the mediating effect of FoMO. Practical implications that reveal the college studentsā€™ problematic social network use were discussed as well

    F&minus;@d4r, a New Type of Acidic Catalytic Site in Zeolite

    As a solid acid, zeolite has been widely used in many fields such as tail gas treatment, petrochemical engineering, and the fine chemical industry. F&minus; has been widely used in the synthesis of pure silica or high silica zeolites. To balance the charge of organic structure directing agents (OSDA), F&minus; is often found located at the center of the double-4-rings (d4r) of the as-made zeolites. During calcination, fluorine ion is removed with the OSDA. We screened a series of composition building units and found that d4r is capable to retain F&minus; in zeolite structure. We introduce the F&minus; back after the calcination to create an unprecedented type of acid site, i.e., F&minus;@d4r in pure silica zeolites ITQ-12. The F&minus;@d4r species is thermal stable up to 300 &deg;C. ITQ-12 with F&minus;@d4r shows substantial catalytic activity in Biginelli reaction. Furthermore, the catalytic performance is proved to be positive correlated with the presence of F&minus;@d4r, indicating the mild acid catalytic property of F&minus;@d4r
