Comparative Analysis of the Sequenced Zaire ebolavirus Samples from the Republic of Guinea
An unprecedented on its scale Ebola fever epidemic, caused by Zaire ebolavirus, has been registered in the territory of West Africa in 2014-2015. The virus quickly spread from the Republic of Guinea into the neighboring countries. Presented are the results of comparative analysis between three Zaire ebolavirus genomes, the complementary DNA of which was obtained from the samples from Ebola fever patients in the Republic of Guinea in 2014. The nucleotide sequences of the genomes received have allowed for identification of phylogenetic affinity to certain references, displayed in the database of NCBI GenBank. General phylogenetic analysis by means of representative sampling has revealed two trends of genome evolutionary development from one and the same ancestral form. The first branch of evolution is represented by a relatively small number of Zaire ebolavirus isolates, disseminated in Guinea. The second one, the most numerous trend, is generated by four variants of Zaire ebolavirus genome, which have been identified starting from May - early June, 2014 in Sierra-Leone, but within a short period of time they have won the whole territory of the country and the neighboring Guinea and Liberia
Mechanical, Electrical and Magnetic Properties of Ferrogels with Embedded Iron Oxide Nanoparticles Obtained by Laser Target Evaporation: Focus on Multifunctional Biosensor Applications
Hydrogels are biomimetic materials widely used in the area of biomedical engineering and biosensing. Ferrogels (FG) are magnetic composites capable of functioning as magnetic field sensitive transformers and field assisted drug deliverers. FG can be prepared by incorporating magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) into chemically crosslinked hydrogels. The properties of biomimetic ferrogels for multifunctional biosensor applications can be set up by synthesis. The properties of these biomimetic ferrogels can be thoroughly controlled in a physical experiment environment which is much less demanding than biotests. Two series of ferrogels (soft and dense) based on polyacrylamide (PAAm) with different chemical network densities were synthesized by free-radical polymerization in aqueous solution with N, N'-methylene-diacrylamide as a cross-linker and maghemite Fe2O3 MNPs fabricated by laser target evaporation as a filler. Their mechanical, electrical and magnetic properties were comparatively analyzed. We developed a giant magnetoimpedance (MI) sensor prototype with multilayered FeNi-based sensitive elements deposited onto glass or polymer substrates adapted for FG studies. The MI measurements in the initial state and in the presence of FG with different concentrations of MNPs at a frequency range of 1-300 MHz allowed a precise characterization of the stray fields of the MNPs present in the FG. We proposed an electrodynamic model to describe the MI in multilayered film with a FG layer based on the solution of linearized Maxwell equations for the electromagnetic fields coupled with the Landau-Lifshitz equation for the magnetization dynamics. This work was supported in part within the framework of the state task of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia 3.6121.2017/8.9; RFBR grants 16-08-00609-a, 18-08-00178, and by the ACTIMAT ELKARTEK grant of the Basque Country Government. Global axisymmetric stability analysis for a composite system of two gravitationally coupled scale-free discs
In a composite system of gravitationally coupled stellar and gaseous discs,
we perform linear stability analysis for axisymmetric coplanar perturbations
using the two-fluid formalism. The background stellar and gaseous discs are
taken to be scale-free with all physical variables varying as powers of
cylindrical radius with compatible exponents. The unstable modes set in as
neutral modes or stationary perturbation configurations with angular frequency

Magnetoimpedance thin film sensor for detecting of stray fields of magnetic particles in blood vessel
Multilayered [FeNi (100 nm)/Cu (3 nm)]5/Cu (500 nm)/[Cu (3 nm)/[FeNi (100 nm)]5 structures were used as sensitive elements of the magnetoimpedance (MI) sensor prototype for model experiments of the detection of magnetic particles in blood vessel. Non-ferromagnetic cylindrical polymer rod with a small magnetic inclusion was used as a sample mimicking thrombus in a blood vessel. The polymer rod was made of epoxy resin with an inclusion of an epoxy composite contain-ing 30% weight fraction of commercial magnetite microparticles. The position of the magnetic inclusion mimicking thrombus in the blood vessel was detected by the measurements of the stray magnetic fields of microparticles using MI element. Changes of the MI ratio in the presence of composite can be characterized by the shift and the decrease of the maximum value of the MI. We were able to detect the position of the magnetic composite sample mimicking thrombus in blood vessels. Comsol modeling was successfully used for the analysis of the obtained experimental results and the understanding of the origin the MI sensitivity in proposed configuration. We describe possible applications of studied configuration of MI detection for biomedical applications in the field of thrombus state evaluation and therapy. © 2021 by the authors. Issues of Scientific and Practical Support of Anti-Epidemic Activities in the Course of Ebola Virus Disease Epidemic Response in West Africa
Consideration is given to the experience of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Guinea in the matter of Ebola fever response. Outlined are the challenging issues regarding scientific support of preventive activities. Provided is a brief characteristic of Pasteur Institute of Guinea as a unique platform for research activities. Covered are the legal aspects of collaboration and priority areas for the development of common initiatives in the sphere of epidemiological monitoring. Identified are the stages of material reinforcement and medical stuff capacity building, including training of specialists with a view to the establishment of effective system for epidemiological surveillance
Effect of Coulomb Forces on the Position of the Pole in the Scattering Amplitude and on Its Residue
Explicit expressions of the vertex constant for the decay of a nucleus into
two charged particles for an arbitrary orbital momentum are derived for the
standard expansion of the effective-range function , as well as when
the function has a pole. As physical examples, we consider the bound
state of the nucleus and the resonant states of the nuclei
He and He in the s-wave, and those of and
in the p-wave. For the systems and the pole
trajectories are constructed in the complex planes of the momentum and of the
renormalized vertex constant. They correspond to a transition from the
resonance state to the virtual state while the Coulomb forces gradually
decrease to zero.Comment: 17 pages, 5 figure
Initial observations of fine plasma structures at the flank magnetopause with the complex plasma analyzer SCA-1 onboard the Interball Tail Probe
International audienceThe fast plasma analyzer EU-1 of the SCA-1 complex plasma spectrometer is installed onboard the Interball Tail Probe (Interball-1). It provides fast three-dimensional measurements of the ion distribution function on the low-spin-rate Prognoz satellite (about 2min). The EU-1 ion spectrometer with virtual aperture consists of two detectors with 16 E/Q narrow-angle analyzers and electrostatic scanners. This configuration allows one to measure the ion distribution function in three dimensions (over 15 energy steps in 50 eV/Q?5.0 keV/Q energy range in 64 directions) in 7.5 s, which makes it independent of the slow rotation speed of the satellite. A description of the instrument and its capabilities is given. We present here the preliminary results of measurements of ions for two cases of the dawn low- and mid-latitude magnetopause crossings. The properties of observed ion structures and their tentative explanation are presented. The 12 September 1995 pass at low latitude at about 90° solar-zenith angle on the dawn side of the magnetosphere is considered in more detail. Dispersive ions are seen at the edge of the magnetopause and at the edges of subsequently observed plasma structures. Changes in ion velocity distribution in plasma structures observed after the first magnetopause crossing suggest that what resembles multiple magnetopause crossings may be plasma blobs penetrating the magnetosphere. Observed variations of plasma parameters near magnetopause structures suggest nonstationary reconnection as the most probable mechanism for observed structures
