The first case of recurrent ultra late onset group B streptococcal sepsis in a 3-year-old child
AbstractGroup B streptococcus (GBS) is a commonly recognized cause of sepsis and meningitis in neonatal and young infants. Invasive GBS infection is classified into early onset GBS disease (EOD, day 0–6), late onset GBS disease (LOD, day 7–89) and ultra late onset GBS disease (ULOD, after 3 months of age). ULOD is uncommon and recurrence is especially rare. We present the first recurrent case of ULOD GBS sepsis in 3-year-old girl with a past medical history of hydrops fetalis and thoracic congenital lymphatic dysplasia. The first episode presented as sepsis at 2 years 8 months of age. The second episode occurred as sepsis with encephalopathy at 3 years 1 months of age. During each episode, the patient was treated using intravenous antimicrobials and her condition improved. Serotype examination was not performed in the first episode, but GBS type V was serotyped in the second episode. ULOD over 1year of age is quite rare and may recur
Special Relativistic Magnetohydrodynamic Simulation of Two-Component Outflow Powered by Magnetic Explosion on Compact Stars
The nonlinear dynamics of outflows driven by magnetic explosion on the
surface of a compact star is investigated through special relativistic
magnetohydrodynamic simulations. We adopt, as the initial equilibrium state, a
spherical stellar object embedded in hydrostatic plasma which has a density
and is threaded by a dipole magnetic field. The
injection of magnetic energy at the surface of compact star breaks the
equilibrium and triggers a two-component outflow. At the early evolutionary
stage, the magnetic pressure increases rapidly around the stellar surface,
initiating a magnetically driven outflow. A strong forward shock driven outflow
is then excited. The expansion velocity of the magnetically driven outflow is
characterized by the Alfv\'en velocity on the stellar surface, and follows a
simple scaling relation . When the
initial density profile declines steeply with radius, the strong shock is
accelerated self-similarly to relativistic velocity ahead of the magnetically
driven component. We find that it evolves according to a self-similar relation
, where is the Lorentz
factor of the plasma measured at the shock surface . Purely
hydrodynamic process would be responsible for the acceleration mechanism of the
shock driven outflow. Our two-component outflow model, which is the natural
outcome of the magnetic explosion, can provide a better understanding of the
magnetic active phenomena on various magnetized compact stars.Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ. 15 pages, 2 tables, 17 figure

This study was carried out in order to obtain basic data for propelling recycling agriculture using compost derived from Samegawa Village, Fukushima. The field experiments were conducted using rice cultivar, Koshihikari in paddy field No. 1 (700m^2) and No. 2 (900m^2). Top dry weight of rice plants and nitrogen concentration of the top, and grain yield were measured. Also nitrogen mineralization rate of the soils was investigated in water-logged soil. It was obvious that not only top dry weight at maturity and grain yield but nitrogen mineralization rate were low. Although these results showed that the soil had less easily decomposable matter, the inorganic nitrogen of the soil increased to 2-3gNm^-2 in 2013. Therefore, we must apply much compost every year, probably leading to increased inorganic nitrogen and improved physical properties of the soil. We should promote recycling agriculture with special consideration of the rate and timing of compost application, and the method of field control
FRET-mediated near infrared whispering gallery modes: studies on the relevance of intracavity energy transfer with Q-factor
Near infrared (NIR) optical microsphere resonators are prepared by coassembly of energy-donating and accepting conjugated polymers. In the microspheres, fluorescence resonance energy transfer occurs, leading to sharp and periodic photoluminescence from whispering gallery modes in the NIR region with Q-factors as high as 600

Synthesis and Magnetic Properties of Stable Radical Derivatives Carrying a Phenylacetylene Unit
A nitronyl nitroxide derivative, 2-phenylethynyl-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-1-oxyl-3-oxide (1), and two verdazyl derivatives carrying a phenylacetylene unit, 1,5-diphenyl-3-phenylethynyl-6-oxo-1,2,4,5-tetrazin-2-yl (2) and 1,5-diisopropyl-3-phenylethynyl-6-oxo-1,2,4,5-tetrazin-2-yl (3), were synthesized and their packing structures were studied by X-ray crystallographic analysis and magnetically characterized in the solid state. While 1 and 3 had an isolated doublet spin state, 2 formed an antiferromagnetically coupled pair (2J/kB = −118 K). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the spin density polarized in the phenyl group decreases as the dihedral angle between the phenyl ring and radical plane increases
Research pertaining to Peace Education (1) Through a research of the elementary school of Nagasaki
The purpose of this study is to measure and evaluate the outcome through practical activities of peace education for the elementary school of Nagasaki. The aim of the outcome was consisted of the frame of the three factors; knowledge about peace, interest and attitude for contributing to realization of the peace, and peace image. Main findings were as followed. 1. The knowledge about peace was developed. 2. The particular part of the peace image was developed. On the basis of the results of this study, we discussed the problems of the future of the peace education
Construction of postural stimulation figures in instructional situation and An Examination of the dimensional structure of postural stimulation figures
The purpose of this paper is to construct the postural stimulation figures in instructional situation, and determine the dimensional structure of the semantic space in which postural stimulation figures are showed; that is, to explore the nature, number and independence of the dimensions involved. And we investigated sex differences. Main findings were as followed. 1. We constructed five postural stimulation .figures in instructional situation. 2. A principal factor analysis yielded evidence for three independent dimensions. Each of these factors was nominated as "status", "stiffen", and "affection". 3. Sex differences were not seen in the whole postural stimulation figures in instructional situation. 4. Sex differences were seen in the particular postural stimulation figures except for "affection
