A Simplified Scheme of Estimation and Cancellation of Companding Noise for Companded Multicarrier Transmission Systems
Nonlinear companding transform is an efficient method to reduce the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of multicarrier transmission systems. However, the introduced companding noise greatly degrades the bit-error-rate (BER) performance of the companded multicarrier systems. In this paper, a simplified but effective scheme of estimation and cancellation of companding noise for the companded multicarrier transmission system is proposed. By expressing the companded signals as the summation of original signals added with a companding noise component, and subtracting this estimated companding noise from the received signals, the BER performance of the overall system can be significantly improved. Simulation results well confirm the great advantages of the proposed scheme over other conventional decompanding or no decompanding schemes under various situations
Exotic Topological States with Raman-Induced Spin-Orbit Coupling
We propose a simple experimental scheme to realize simultaneously the
one-dimensional spin-orbit coupling and the staggered spin-flip in ultracold
pseudospin- atomic Fermi gases trapped in square optical lattices. In the
absence of interspecies interactions, the system supports gapped Chern
insulators and gapless topological semimetal states. By turning on the -wave
interactions, a rich variety of gapped and gapless inhomogeneous topological
superfluids can emerge. In particular, a gapped topological Fulde-Ferrell
superfluid, in which the chiral edge states at opposite boundaries possess the
same chirality, is predicted.Comment: 11 pages, 6 figure
Full one-loop electroweak radiative corrections to single photon production in e+e-
Large scale calculation for the radiative corrections required for the
current and future collider experiments can be done automatically using the
GRACE-LOOP system. Here several results for e+e- --> 3-body processes are
presented including e+e- --> e+e-H and e+e- --> nu nubar gamma.Comment: 5 pages, contribution to ACAT03(Dec. 2003
Proses dan Praktik Belajar dalam Organisasi Pembelajar pada Perusahaan Biro Jasa Perjalanan di YOGYAKARTA
Specific objectives in this study is to analyze the implementation of concrete learning processes and practices in learning organizations on travel agency companies in Yogyakarta in the midst of a tight competition. Then, give suggestion of recommendation of strategic steps for travel agency company in Yogyakarta in order to apply organizational principle of learners. In addition, the contribution to knowledge or theory is manifested in the form of review and additional insight into the application of learning organizations to the company. This research uses qualitative approach. Data collected were primary data obtained through questionnaire of learning organization and interview with related respondent, and secondary data.Primary data were analyzed by conducting content analysis. The method used to test the validity of data is triangulation and respondent validation.Based on the results of research and analysis, researchers found that travel agency company in Yogyakarta has not become a learning organization. This is because there are components of concrete learning processes and practices that have not been implemented properly, specifically the limited education and training
A review on available energy saving strategies for heating, ventilation and air conditioning in underground metro stations
Due to the increasing number of underground metro stations worldwide and the great energy consumption of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in underground stations, reducing the HVAC energy consumption while maintaining a hygienic and acceptable environment in underground stations is becoming an ongoing research challenge. This paper presented an overview of the strategies available for HVAC energy saving in underground stations. Firstly, the design features of the HVAC systems are summarized and issues affecting the HVAC systems’ energy efficiency are identified. Then, a thorough review of the energy-efficient HVAC strategies is presented. For each strategy, the principal application and the effect on energy saving are described, and the limitation is also analyzed. Lastly, the strategies are classified and compared from different perspectives and upcoming challenges are proposed. The authors hope that this study can promote the reasonable adoption of different energy-efficient HVAC strategies in underground stations, which could reduce the energy consumption of the HVAC systems in the long run
Screening of Chinese brassica species for anti-cancer sulforaphane and erucin
Natural sulforaphane and erucin have been of increasing interest for nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industries due to their anti-cancer effect. The sulforaphane and/or erucin contents in seeds of 43 different Chinese Brassica oleracea L. varieties were analyzed by HPLC and GC-MS. Among them, 21 cultivars seed meal (in 5 species, including Chinese kale, cabbage, kohlrabi, kale and broccoli) yielded sulforaphane and/or erucin. The results indicated that erucin was found mainly in cabbage and kohlrabi, and sulforaphane was found mainly in broccoli. The highest content of sulforaphane (1575.5 mg/kg) and erucin (2528.1 mg/kg) were found in Green Dragon I (broccoli) and Dongchunbao (cabbage), respectively. Crude sulforaphane and erucin were extracted in gram-scale; 1.266 g sulforaphane (purity: 78.2%) and 0.972 g erucin (purity: 65.6%) were obtained
