Sequential Development of Putaminal Hemorrhage and Corona Radiata Infarction in the Same Lenticulostriate Arterial Territory
Putaminal hemorrhage is a common type of spontaneous cerebral hemorrhage. However, to our knowledge, there have been no reports of sequential cerebral hemorrhage and infarction in the same perforating arterial territory. Herein, we present the first reported case of the sequential development of putaminal hemorrhage and corona radiata infarction in the same lenticulostriate arterial (LSA) territory. Early intensive blood pressure lowering treatment may have aggravated ischemic damage. If a patient presents with motor weakness that cannot be explained by putaminal hemorrhage, the sequential development of corona radiata infarction in the same LSA territory should be ruled out
Research and development strategy for fishery technology innovation for sustainable fishery resource management in north-east Asia
The development of fishery technologies supports food sustainability to achieve a steady supply of fish and fishery products. However, the priorities for research and development (R&D) in fishery technologies vary by region due to differences in fish resource availability, environmental concerns, and consumer preferences for fishery products. This study examines trends in fishery technology innovations using data on patents granted as an indicator of changing R&D priorities. To clarify changes in R&D priorities, we apply a decomposition analysis framework that classifies fishery technologies into three types: harvesting, aquaculture, and new products. This study mainly focuses on China, Japan, and Korea as the major fishing countries in the north-east Asia region. The results show that the number of fishery technology patents granted increased between 1993 and 2015; in particular, the number of aquaculture patents granted has grown rapidly since 2012. However, the trend in Japan was the opposite, as the apparent priority given to aquaculture technology innovation decreased between 1993 and 2015. The trends and priority changes for fishery technology inventions vary by country and technology group. This implies that an international policy framework for fishery technology development should recognize that R&D priorities need to reflect diverse characteristics across countries and the technologies employed
Eight Dimensional Noncommutative Instantons and D0-D8 Bound States with B-field
We construct some classes of instanton solutions of eight dimensional
noncommutative ADHM equations generalizing the solutions of eight dimensional
commutative ADHM equations found by Papadopoulos and Teschendorff, and
interpret them as supersymmetric - bound states in a NS -field.
Especially, we consider the - system with anti-self-dual -field
preserving 3/16 of supercharges. This system and self-duality conditions are
related with the group which is a subgroup of the eight dimensional
rotation group SO(8).Comment: 13 page
Venous Thromboembolism after Total Hip Arthroplasty Diagnosed by Enhanced Computed Tomography : Comparison of Selective Thromboprophylaxis and No Thromboprophylaxis
Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is the most effective treatment for advanced or end-stage hip osteoarthritis. However, venous thromboembolism (VTE) remains one of its unresolved complications. We reviewed the records of 322 patients undergoing primary THA and investigated the efficacy of anticoagulant prophylaxis for VTE. Our study cohort consisted of 60 patients who received no anticoagulants, 100 patients who received a factor Xa inhibitor (fondaparinux), 100 patients who received low molecular weight heparin (enoxaparin), and 62 patients who selectively received no anticoagulant prophylaxis due to perioperative bleeding, weight, and/or hemoglobin concentration. Enhanced 64-slice multidetector row computed tomography was performed postoperatively for 7 days in all cases. The incidence of VTE in the four groups was 15オ, 9.0オ, 6.0オ, and 6.4オ, respectively. The incidence of VTE was significantly lower in the groups receiving anticoagulant prophylaxis and the group selectively receiving no anticoagulant prophylaxis than in the group receiving no anticoagulants. Complications of fondaparinux therapy included hepatic dysfunction in 4 cases (4.0オ), minor bleeding in 2 cases (2.0オ), persistent wound drainage in 3 cases (3.0オ), and eruption in 1 case (1.0オ). The complications of enoxaparin therapy were persistent wound drainage in 1 case (1.0オ) and progression of anemia in 1 case (1.0オ). The incidence of VTE was low in patients who selectively received no anticoagulant prophylaxis, so we conclude that anticoagulant prophylaxis should be used selectively in THA cases
