    Factor Graph Based LMMSE Filtering for Colored Gaussian Processes

    We propose a low complexity, graph based linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) filter in which the non-white characteristics of a random process are taken into account. Our method corresponds to block LMMSE filtering, and has the advantage of complexity linearly increasing with the block length and the ease of incorporating the a priori information of the input signals whenever possible. The proposed method can be used with any random process with a known autocorrelation function with the help of an approximation to an autoregressive (AR) process. We show through extensive simulations that our method performs very close to the optimal block LMMSE filtering for Gaussian input signals.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

    We propose a low complexity graph-based linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) equalizer which considers both the intersymbol interference (ISI) and the effect of non-white noise inherent in Faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) signaling. In order to incorporate the statistics of noise signal into the factor graph over which the LMMSE algorithm is implemented, we suggest a method that models it as an autoregressive (AR) process. Furthermore, we develop a new mechanism for exchange of information between the proposed equalizer and the channel decoder through turbo iterations. Based on these improvements, we show that the proposed low complexity receiver structure performs close to the optimal decoder operating in ISI-free ideal scenario without FTN signaling through simulations.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figures, IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference 2014, Istanbul, Turke

    An algorithm for fast route lookup and update

    Increase in routing table sizes, number of updates, traffic, speed of links and migration to IPv6 have made IP address lookup, based on longest prefix matching, a major bottleneck for high performance routers. Several schemes are evaluated and compared based on complexity analysis and simulation results. A trie based scheme, called Linked List Cascade Addressable Trie (LLCAT) is presented. The strength of LLCAT comes from the fact that it is easy to be implemented in hardware, and also routing table update operations are performed incrementally requiring very few memory operations guaranteed for worst case to satisfy requirements of dynamic routing tables in high speed routers. Application of compression schemes to this algorithm is also considered to improve memory consumption and search time. The algorithm is implemented in C language and simulation results with real-life data is presented along with detailed description of the algorithm

    New generation CAD-CAM materials for implant-supported definitive frameworks fabricated by using subtractive technologies

    Innovations in digital manufacturing enabled the fabrication of implant-supported fixed dental prostheses (ISFDPs) in a wide variety of recently introduced materials. Computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) milling allows the fabrication of ISFDPs with high accuracy by reducing the fabrication steps of large-span frameworks. The longevity of ISFDPs depends on the overall mechanical properties of the framework material including its fit, and the physical properties of the veneering material and its bond with the framework. This comprehensive review summarizes the recent information on millable CAD-CAM framework materials such as pre-sintered soft alloys, fiber-reinforced composite resins, PEEK, and PEKK in high-performance polymer family, and 4Y-TZP. Even though promising results have been obtained with the use of new generation millable CAD-CAM materials for ISFDPs, clinical studies are lacking and future research should focus on the overall performance of these millable materials in both static and dynamic conditions

    Determination of the Odour Adsorption Behaviour of Wool

    In this study, the adsorption/desorption behaviours of water vapor on wool, as well as of the redolents, such as acetic acid and benzaldehyde, have been investigated. For this purpose, static and dynamic experiments were carried out. Static experiments were conducted to model stagnant environments. In the experiments, wool came into contact with the material to be adsorbed or dry air and the weight increase/decrease was recorded for a certain period of time. The results obtained showed that the wool adsorbed the benzaldehyde very little, whereas the adsorbed amount and the rate were abundantly increased for acetic acid under the same conditions. From these findings, the adsorption capacity of wool for the redolents was tentatively ranked in accordance with their adsorbed amounts as acetic acid>water>benzaldehyde

    Strategic level three-stage production distribution planning with capacity expansion

    In this thesis, we address a strategic planning problem for a three-stage production-distribution network. The problem under consideration is a single-item, multi-supplier, multi-producer and multi-distributor production-distribution network with deterministic demand. The objective is to minimize the costs associated with production, transportation and inventory as well as capacity expansion costs over a given time horizon. The limitations are the production capacities of the suppliers and producers, and transportation capacities of the corresponding transportation network. On the other hand, all capacities may be increased at a fixed cost. The problem is formulated as a 0-1 mixed integer programming model. Since the problem is intractable for real life cases efficient relaxation-based heuristics are considered to obtain a good feasible solution
