Intrinsic Alignment in redMaPPer clusters -- II. Radial alignment of satellites toward cluster centers
We study the orientations of satellite galaxies in redMaPPer clusters
constructed from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey at to determine
whether there is any preferential tendency for satellites to point radially
toward cluster centers. We analyze the satellite alignment (SA) signal based on
three shape measurement methods (re-Gaussianization, de Vaucouleurs, and
isophotal shapes), which trace galaxy light profiles at different radii. The
measured SA signal depends on these shape measurement methods. We detect the
strongest SA signal in isophotal shapes, followed by de Vaucouleurs shapes.
While no net SA signal is detected using re-Gaussianization shapes across the
entire sample, the observed SA signal reaches a statistically significant level
when limiting to a subsample of higher luminosity satellites. We further
investigate the impact of noise, systematics, and real physical isophotal
twisting effects in the comparison between the SA signal detected via different
shape measurement methods. Unlike previous studies, which only consider the
dependence of SA on a few parameters, here we explore a total of 17 galaxy and
cluster properties, using a statistical model averaging technique to naturally
account for parameter correlations and identify significant SA predictors. We
find that the measured SA signal is strongest for satellites with the following
characteristics: higher luminosity, smaller distance to the cluster center,
rounder in shape, higher bulge fraction, and distributed preferentially along
the major axis directions of their centrals. Finally, we provide physical
explanations for the identified dependences, and discuss the connection to
theories of SA.Comment: 25 pages, 16 figures, 7 tables, accepted to MNRAS. Main statistical

Depression is a predictor for both smoking and quitting intentions among male coronary artery disease patients
Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the third most prominent cause of death globally, and smoking is the most common risk factors for CAD. However, few studies have examined both smoking and smoking cessation intentions in patients with CAD. The study aims to explore the predictors for smoking and quitting intentions among male CAD patients. This was a cross-sectional study. A total of 368 male CAD patients were recruited and classified into never smoked, quit smoking, and continuing to smoke three groups. Demographic information, level of nicotine dependence, carbon monoxide concentration, depression, and resilience were analyzed by using t-test, one- way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and least significant difference (LSD) post-hoc test and the multiple logistic regression analysis. The results revealed that among participants, 23.1% had never smoked, 40.5% had quit smoking, and 36.4% continued to smoke. Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that age (OR=0.95, 95% CI=0.90–0.99), carbon monoxide (OR=1.74, 95% CI=1.51–2.01), and depression (OR=1.13, 95% CI=1.04–1.23) predicted participants who continued to smoke. Among the 134 participants who continued to smoke, 35.8% exhibited no intention to quit, and 64.2% planned to quit. Nicotine dependence (OR=0.79, 95% CI=0.66–0.94) and depression (OR=1.10, 95% CI=1.02–1.20) were significant predictors in participants who intended to quit smoking. The study demonstrates that depression is a significant predictor for both smoking and quitting intentions among male CAD patients
A search-matching model of the buyer-seller platforms
Based on the frictional matching framework, the paper provides a
theoretical model for a specic type of two-sided platform: The buyer-
seller transaction platform. In the model, the number of participants
and the source of network externalities are endogenously determined.
The platform is shown to exhibit both positive cross-group and neg-
ative within-group network externalities. The optimal pricing of the
platform depends not only on the cost of providing service and the
benets of the participants, but also on how the marginal entrant (ei-
ther a buyer or a seller) aects the matching probability. Since the
sellers can shift the burden of entry fee to the buyers, the platform
never subsidizes the sellers
Development of Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) System with PV Ceramic Tile and its Application for Building Façade
AbstractIn this paper, the single-crystal silicon-based solar cells laminated between tempered glass and ceramic tile is developed to be utilized in the building's façade. Firstly, the electrical, optical, and thermal properties of the proposed PV module are evaluated. Then, the wind-resistance test is implanted to evaluate the installation feasibility in Taiwan where have typhoon frequently. The electrical and deflection characteristics of the proposed PV module have no obviously changed after a 50 thermal cycling test and a 200hour humidity-freeze test, based on IEC 61215, and a wind-resistance test, respectively. Finally, electrical power generation of the proposed BIPV system with 1 kWp electrical power capacity installed in a demonstration house is performed. The experimental results indicate that accumulative power generation is 185 kWh during 6-month monitoring period. And that, the exterior temperature of the demonstration house is lower than that on the surface of the BIPV system about 10°C. The proposed BIPV system not only provides the passive energy for its power loading, but also improves the indoor thermal environment by fluent natural ventilation
A LITERATURE REVIEW OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM (1990-2016): DEVELOPMENT TRAJECTORY AND FRAMEWORK
Purpose of the study—Tourism is one of the largest and fastest growing industries in the world. Just like an enterprise today, sustainability is the long-term objective pursued by tourism industry. However, little effort has been made to systematically provide sufficient information to academicians and practitioners who have great research interests in sustainable tourism. Therefore, this paper aims to figure out the knowledge mapping of sustainable tourism and to indicate its research hot spots and trends for future research.
Methodology—This paper surveys the development trajectory of sustainable tourism using a literature review and classification of articles retrieved from 5 online databases with solo keyword “sustainable tourism” from 1900 to 2016.
Main findings—Based on the scope of 641 articles, this study reveals that the number of publication on sustainable tourism has significantly increased since 2006. In addition, these articles are scattered across 125 journals and mostly published in 23 academic journals. The majority of targeted countries/regions for sustainable tourism focus on Asia, Europe and America.
Limitation—Restricted to limited knowledge, we make a brief literature survey on sustainable tourism from 1990-2016 to explore how sustainable tourism and its applications have developed in this period.
Originality/value—In fact, sustainable tourism is a belief and an overall concept in every tourism activities. Though this research has done lots, it still has rooms to make more complete. Finally, we present a conceptual framework integrating 13 classifications criteria derived from our analysis with 3247 keywords. Most interestingly, we further present a conceptual framework with a visual effect to operationalize the coverage of sustainable tourism. Based on our analysis, any researcher can easily find the popular and right journal to get into it, if he/she is in need, he/she also can roughly know its applications so far and completely get a whole picture of sustainable tourism quickly
Persistent and multisite homophobic harassment during childhood and adolescence and its association with school difficulties in gay and bisexual men in Taiwan
Background: Homophobic harassment can compromise mental health of sexual minority youths. Objectives: This study examined the rates of persistent and multisite homophobic harassment and their associations with school difficulties during childhood and adolescence among gay and bisexual men in Taiwan. Methods: Participants were recruited through advertisements on the Facebook, Bulletin Board Systems, and the home pages of health promotion and counseling centers for the gay, lesbian, and bisexual community. The experiences of traditional and cyber harassment based on gender role nonconformity and sexual orientation of 500 gay or bisexual men were examined. The associations of multisite and persistent harassment victimization with school difficulties were evaluated. Results: A total of 239 (47.8%) and 131 (26.2%) participants experienced persistent and multisite harassment victimization, respectively. Harassment victimization was significantly associated with low satisfaction with academic performance in any stage of study. Moreover, the participants who were harassed in senior high schools were more likely to miss classes or be truant than those who were not harassed. The victims of multisite harassment at senior high schools were more likely to miss classes or be truant than those of school-only harassment. Discussion: Prevention and intervention programs are warranted to reduce homophobic harassment in sexual minority youths
