    Laws of distribution of the snow cover on the greater Caucasus (Soviet Union)

    The laws of the distribution of the snow cover on the mountains of the greater Caucasus are discussed. It is shown that an extremely unequal distribution of the snow cover is caused by the complex orography of this territory, the diversity of climatic conditions and by the difference in altitude. Regions of constant, variable and unstable snow cover are distinguished because of the clearly marked division into altitude layers, each of which is characterized by climatic differences in the nature of the snow accumulation

    In this research, based on the common or at least great similarities between the problems of large- and small-scale habitats in the geographies where cultural interactions are experienced, the cultural structure of the Near East University, which is blended with more than 100 countries and thus culture, in the multicultural living area has been examined. Higher education in North Cyprus, which carries the mission of an educational island, is in an important process of development. North Cyprus, where almost one-third of the official population comes from, carries the impact of multicultural life. In this study, the interview method was used in Qualitative Research Methods. Stewart and Cash (1985) defined the interview as a serious process of mutual and interactive communication based on the way of asking and answering questions for a predetermined and serious purpose Stew. Student at the Near East University, who is from Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, attended by 20 students from different countries such as Iran. The students were asked open-ended questions and analyzed in terms of their ability to express themselves freely and analyzed by qualitative research method.En esta investigación, basada en las similitudes comunes o al menos grandes entre los problemas de los hábitats a gran y pequeña escala en las geografías donde se experimentan las interacciones culturales, la estructura cultural de la Near East University, que se combina con más de 100 países y, por lo tanto, se ha examinado la cultura en el área de vida multicultural.     The article is devoted to the traditions’ revealing and comprehending of Thomas Moore’s works in the poetry of M.Yu.Lermontov, evidence’s establishing of the systematic interest of the Russian poet to the motifs and symbolic images of the poems of the Irish author; we also analyzed individual artistic details in the poems of M.Yu. Lermontov, confirming the facts of M.Yu.Lermontov’s close study of Byron’s biography, published by Thomas Moore. In the methodological aspect, the article is based on the foundations of historical poetics science, set forth in the fundamental works of Alexander N. Veselovsky, V. M. Zhirmunsky, and also on the writings of English literature researchers such as P.S. Kogan, A.E. Elistratova, A.P. Sarukhanyan, works on translation theory and intercultural communication written by L.S. Barkhudarov, V.N. Komissarov, Y.L. Obolenskaya. In the process of analysis, sociocultural, comparative-historical, cultural-historical and comparative-typological methods of research are used. Using the example of appealing to specific artistic texts, a certain similarity of the motifs of Lermontov's novel «Vadim» and the third part of Thomas Moore's poem «Lalla Rookh» «Fire-Worshippers» was revealed, examples of repeated appeals to the image of Peri in Lermontov's oriental story «Ismail Bay», poems «Demon» and «Mtsyri». There are some details in the autobiographical notes of the Russian poet and his poems from the «Sushkov’s» poetical cycle, that approve the close study of Byron's biography by Lermontov. Biographical information about the Irish poet, derived from Thomas Moore's book «Letters and Journals of Lord Byron with Notices of His Life» largely influenced on the M.Yu. Lermontov’s creation of certain poetic cycles and enriched his works with vivid images and ideas.El artículo está dedicado a la revelación y comprensión de las tradiciones de las obras de Thomas Moore en la poesía de M.Yu.Lermontov, el establecimiento de evidencias del interés sistemático del poeta ruso por los motivos y las imágenes simbólicas de los poemas del autor irlandés. ; también analizamos detalles artísticos individuales en los poemas de M.Yu. Lermontov, confirmando los hechos del estudio minucioso de M.Yu.Lermontov sobre la biografía de Byron, publicado por Thomas Moore. En el aspecto metodológico, el artículo se basa en los fundamentos de la ciencia poética histórica, expuesta en las obras fundamentales de Alexander N. Veselovsky, V. M. Zhirmunsky, y también en las obras de investigadores de la literatura inglesa como P.S. Kogan, A.E. Elistratova, A.P. Sarukhanyan, trabaja en la teoría de la traducción y la comunicación intercultural escrita por L.S. Barkhudarov, V.N. Komissarov, Y.L. Obolenskaya. Hay algunos detalles en las notas autobiográficas del poeta ruso y sus poemas del ciclo poético «Sushkov», que aprueban el estudio detallado de la biografía de Byron por Lermontov.     Laser-induced persistent photovoltage on the surface of a ternary topological insulator at room temperature

    Using time- and angle-resolved photoemission, we investigate the ultrafast response of excited electrons in the ternary topological insulator (Bi1x_{1 x}Sbx_{x})2_2Te3_3 to fs-infrared pulses. We demonstrate that at the critical concentration xx=0.55, where the system becomes bulk insulating, a surface voltage can be driven at room temperature through the topological surface state solely by optical means. We further show that such a photovoltage persists over a time scale that exceeds \sim6 μ\mus, i.e, much longer than the characteristic relaxation times of bulk states. We attribute the origin of the photovoltage to a laser-induced band-bending effect which emerges near the surface region on ultrafast time scales. The photovoltage is also accompanied by a remarkable increase in the relaxation times of excited states as compared to undoped topological insulators. Our findings are relevant in the context of applications of topological surface states in future optical devices.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

    Zebrafish Exploit Visual Cues and Geometric Relationships to Form a Spatial Memory

    Animals use salient cues to navigate in their environment, but their specific cognitive strategies are largely unknown. We developed a conditioned place avoidance paradigm to discover whether and how zebrafish form spatial memories. In less than an hour, juvenile zebrafish, as young as 3 weeks, learned to avoid the arm of a Y-maze that was cued with a mild electric shock. Interestingly, individual fish solved this task in different ways: by staying in the safe center of the maze or by preference for one, or both, of the safe arms. In experiments in which the learned patterns were swapped, rotated, or replaced, the animals could transfer the association of safety to a different arm or to a different pattern using either visual cues or location as the conditioned stimulus. These findings show that juvenile zebrafish exhibit several complementary spatial learning modes, which generate a flexible repertoire of behavioral strategies

    In the paper we consider a multichannel loss preemptive priority system with a Poisson input and general service time distribution depending on the priority of job. Jobs of the same priority are preempted according with First Come First Displaced (FCFD) protocol. Approximate formulas are obtained for the loss probability of a prescribed priority job and some other characteristics of the system.     The article attempts to consider the phenomenon of the Russian intelligentsia in a wide cultural context. We turn to the works of Russian philosophers, to the works of art by Russian writers. Philosophy, literature and art in Russian culture form a synthesis through which you can understand the uniqueness of the national image of the world. The material for the study is the treatise S.A. Yesenin "The keys of Mary”. In this treatise, the poet reflects not only on the laws of art, but also gives ideas about the Russian man, his connection with archaic knowledge, expressed through ornament, embroidery, and applied art. The comparative-typological, structural-functional and systematic analysis method is applied.El artículo intenta considerar el fenómeno de la intelectualidad rusa en un amplio contexto cultural. Pasamos a las obras de filósofos rusos, a las obras de arte de escritores rusos. La filosofía, la literatura y el arte en la cultura rusa forman una síntesis a través de la cual puedes entender la singularidad de la imagen nacional del mundo. El material para el estudio es el tratado SA Yesenin "Las llaves de María".
