    The main objective of this study is to determine the relationship between the empathic tendency levels and thinking styles of preschool teacher candidates. In this study that was patterned with the relational survey model, the data were collected through the use of the personal information form, empathic tendency scale developed by Dökmen (1988) and the thinking styles inventory which was developed by Sternberg and Wagner (1992) in accordance with the Mental Self-Management Theory and was both shortened and adapted into Turkish by Buluş (2006). The sample group of the study consisted of 209 teacher candidates who were selected through the suitable sampling method from Pamukkale University Faculty of Education Department of Primary Education and Preschool Education in the school year of 2014-2015. “Ninety percent” of the teacher candidates who participated in the study were female (n=188) and 10% were male (n=21). The data acquired in the study were analyzed by using the statistical methods of percentage, frequency, arithmetic mean, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient and Linear Regression with the help of the SPSS package software. As a result of the study, the empathic tendency levels of preschool education teacher candidates were presented as a mean value ( X =70.50) and it was concluded that variables like gender, class levels and age did not significantly affect the empathic tendency level. Regarding the thinking styles, on the other hand, it was determined that they mainly preferred the legislative and executive styles and merely the conservative style. It was also determined that some subscales of thinking styles significantly differentiated according to gender, class levels, and age. Furthermore, statistically significant correlations were obtained in some subscales of empathic tendency and thinking styles. Accordingly, the acquired results were discussed with the results of other studies in literature and some recommendations were made

    Design of a tunable multi-band differential LC VCO using 0.35 mu m SiGe BiCMOS technology for multi-standard wireless communication systems

    In this paper, an integrated 2.2-5.7GHz multi-band differential LC VCO for multi-standard wireless communication systems was designed utilizing 0.35 mu m SiGe BiCMOS technology. The topology, which combines the switching inductors and capacitors together in the same circuit, is a novel approach for wideband VCOs. Based on the post-layout simulation results, the VCO can be tuned using a DC voltage of 0 to 3.3 V for 5 different frequency bands (2.27-2.51 GHz, 2.48-2.78 GHz, 3.22-3.53 GHz, 3.48-3.91 GHz and 4.528-5.7 GHz) with a maximum bandwidth of 1.36 GHz and a minimum bandwidth of 300 MHz. The designed and simulated VCO can generate a differential output power between 0.992 and -6.087 dBm with an average power consumption of 44.21 mW including the buffers. The average second and third harmonics level were obtained as -37.21 and -47.6 dBm, respectively. The phase noise between -110.45 and -122.5 dBc/Hz, that was simulated at 1 MHz offset, can be obtained through the frequency of interest. Additionally, the figure of merit (FOM), that includes all important parameters such as the phase noise, the power consumption and the ratio of the operating frequency to the offset frequency, is between -176.48 and -181.16 and comparable or better than the ones with the other current VCOs. The main advantage of this study in comparison with the other VCOs, is covering 5 frequency bands starting from 2.27 up to 5.76 GHz without FOM and area abandonment. Output power of the fundamental frequency changes between -6.087 and 0.992 dBm, depending on the bias conditions (operating bands). Based on the post-layout simulation results, the core VCO circuit draws a current between 2.4-6.3 mA and between 11.4 and 15.3 mA with the buffer circuit from 3.3 V supply. The circuit occupies an area of 1.477 mm(2) on Si substrate, including DC, digital and RF pads

    Chemical characterization of water and ethanolic extracts of Turkish propolis byHPLC-DAD and GC-MS

    This study aims to determine the qualitative and quantitative contents of Turkish propolis collected from various regions of Turkey using high-performance liquid chromatography with the diode-array detector (HPLC-DAD) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) in water and ethanolic extracts. In HPLC-DAD analyses, it was determined that water extract of Turkish propolis contains phenolic acids such as caffeic acid (204.00 µg/mL), trans-cinnamic, chlorogenic, and caffeoylquinic acids, responsible for its antioxidant activity; whereas, the ethanolic extract of Turkish propolis contains chrysin (641.33 µg/mL), caffeic acid phenethyl ester (630.67 µg/mL), pinocembrin (572.67 µg/mL), galangin (534.11 µg/mL), naringenin (372.39 µg/mL), and also kaempferol, trans-cinnamic acid, caffeic acid, myricetin, and quercetin. GC-MS analyses showed that ethanolic extract of propolis contains caffeic acid by Rtx-1 column and the water extract of propolis contains quinic acid and ferulic acid by Rtx-5ms column. Various sugar derivatives were detected by both columns in water and ethanolic extracts of Turkish propolis. HPLC-DAD can be considered as a more effective method than GC-MS for the chemical characterization of propolis. Water extract of Turkish propolis can be a good source of raw materials for various sectors, as it is both cheap and has less health risk than ethanolic extract, and is suitable for human use

Köprülünün pek çok çalışması hala dünya ve Türkiye Türk tarihçiliği alanında referans olma durumunu korumakta, Türk tarihiyle uğraşan yerli yabancı pek çok araştırmacı onu dikkate almakta ve kitap ve makalelerini kullanmaktadır. Zaten eserlerinin değişik dillere tercüme edilmesi de bunu gösteriyor. Şüphesiz ki o modern Türk tarihçiliğinin kurucusudur ve o yerini hep muhafaza edecektir.Köprülü is still a valuable person in spite of the rightful and felicitous criticism about him. It will be more appropriate to evaluate his works about all kinds of topics, not only the history of religion and mysticism. Most of Köprülü’s works keep its place as being reference in field of Turkish historiography of world and Turkey. Thus many native and foreign researchers take him into account and use his books and articles. Indeed, the translation of his works into different languages is an indication of such a claim. Without doubt he is the founder of modern Turkish historiography and will always remain so

    A GRAPHICAL EXPRESSION SUPPORTING LISTENING AND MUSICAL PERCEPTION: MUSICOGRAM TECHNIQUE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD

    Various techniques are employed to enhance music listening and perception skills in early childhood. One of these techniques is the musicogram method, proposed by Wuytack in the early 1970s following research into active music listening. This study aims to examine musicogram videos targeting early childhood shared on a social media platform, YouTube. The study employed a qualitative research method, and data was collected through document analysis. For data collection, videos were accessed on the video-sharing platform YouTube using keywords “müzikogram,” “müzogram,” “musicogram,” “musicograma.” Within the filtering criteria, musicograms in Turkish and different languages were included in the study based on their highest view counts across all time periods and sorted by ranking. As a result of the study, it was observed that classical Western music was predominantly used in musicograms prepared in different languages, whereas digital music and familiar children’s songs were preferred in Turkish musicograms. It was also found that the symbolic representation used in musicograms did not correspond to the melodic rhythmic patterns of the compositions. The use of musicograms for early childhood has gained significant popularity on social media; however, there is a need to enhance the content to be more comprehensive, including theoretical and practical information

    Role of dopaminergic system in oxytocin analgesia: The missing part in a puzzle

    Purpose: To investigate the analgesic effects of oxytocin (OT) and elucidate the role of dopaminergic system in its mechanisms.Methods: In this study, 72 male (n=6 for each group) 230-250 gr Wistar Albino rats were used. Firstly, dose studies were performed with 100 μg/kg, 200 μg/kg and 400 μg/kg to determine the optimal analgesic effect of oxytocin. Optimal dose was found at 200 μg/kg, and then animals were divided into nine groups: Saline, D1 agonist (SKF 38393; 0.1 mg/kg), D1 antagonist (SCH-23390; 0.1 mg/kg), D1 agonist + oxytocin, D1 antagonist + oxytocin, D2 agonist (Cabergoline; 0,5 mg/kg), D2 antagonist (Sulpride; 10 mg/kg), D2 agonist + oxytocin and D2 antagonist + oxytocin. Serum physiologic saline was given to the saline group and other drugs were administered intraperitoneally at the indicated doses. Tail-flick and hot-plate tests were used to measure analgesic effects. Analgesic tests were measured in 30 min-intervals (at 30th, 60th, 90th, and 120th min) and recorded in seconds. To evaluate maximum antinociceptive effect (% MPE), the tail-flick and hot-plate latencies were converted to the antinociceptive effectivenessResults: The results show that D1 antagonist SCH-23390 (0.1 mg/kg) and D2 agonist cabergoline (0.5 mg/kg) created strong analgesia while the D1 agonist SKF 38393 (0.1 mg/kg) and D2 antagonist sulpiride (10 mg/kg) did not have any analgesic effect. However, only D2 antagonist sulpiride blocked the analgesic effect produced by OTConclusion: OT may be one of the primary agents participating in spinal analgesia, and the dopaminergic system is one of the central mechanisms of action for this important molecule.
