Numerical case studies of vertical wall fire protection using water spray
AbstractStudies of vertical wall fire protection are evaluated with numerical method. Typical fire cases such as heated dry wall and upward flame spread have been validated. Results predicted by simulations are found to agree with experiment results. The combustion behavior and flame development of vertical polymethylmethacrylate slabs with different water flow rates are explored and discussed. Water spray is found to be capable of strengthening the fire resistance of combustible even under high heat flux radiation. Provided result and data are expected to provide reference for fire protection methods design and development of modern buildings
Nitrosative stress treatment of E. coli targets distinct set of thiol-containing proteins
Reactive nitrogen species (RNS) function as powerful antimicrobials in host defence, but so far little is known about their bacterial targets. In this study, we set out to identify Escherichia coli proteins with RNS-sensitive cysteines. We found that only a very select set of proteins contain cysteines that undergo reversible thiol modifications upon nitric oxide (NO) treatment in vivo . Of the 10 proteins that we identified, six (AtpA, AceF, FabB, GapA, IlvC, TufA) have been shown to harbour functionally important thiol groups and are encoded by genes that are considered essential under our growth conditions. Media supplementation studies suggested that inactivation of AceF and IlvC is, in part, responsible for the observed NO-induced growth inhibition, indicating that RNS-mediated modifications play important physiological roles. Interestingly, the majority of RNS-sensitive E. coli proteins differ from E. coli proteins that harbour H 2 O 2 -sensitive thiol groups, implying that reactive oxygen and nitrogen species affect distinct physiological processes in bacteria. We confirmed this specificity by analysing the activity of one of our target proteins, the small subunit of glutamate synthase. Genetics of combined pituitary hormone deficiency: Roadmap into the genome era
The genetic basis for combined pituitary hormone deficiency (CPHD) is complex, involving 30 genes in a variety of syndromic and nonsyndromic presentations. Molecular diagnosis of this disorder is valuable for predicting disease progression, avoiding unnecessary surgery, and family planning. Weexpect that the application of high throughput sequencing will uncover additional contributing genes and eventually become a valuable tool for molecular diagnosis. For example, in the last 3 years, six new genes have been implicated in CPHD using whole-exome sequencing. In this review, we present a historical perspective on gene discovery for CPHD and predict approaches that may facilitate future gene identification projects conducted by clinicians and basic scientists. Guidelines for systematic reporting of genetic variants and assigning causality are emerging. We apply these guidelines retrospectively to reports of the genetic basis of CPHD and summarize modes of inheritance and penetrance for each of the known genes. In recent years, there have been great improvements in databases of genetic information for diverse populations. Some issues remain that make molecular diagnosis challenging in some cases. These include the inherent genetic complexity of this disorder, technical challenges like uneven coverage, differing results from variant calling and interpretation pipelines, the number of tolerated genetic alterations, and imperfect methods for predicting pathogenicity.Wediscuss approaches for future research in the genetics of CPHD.Fil: Fang, Qing. Diagnostic for Dilaton Dark Energy
diagnostic can differentiate between different models of dark energy
without the accurate current value of matter density. We apply this geometric
diagnostic to dilaton dark energy(DDE) model and differentiate DDE model from
LCDM. We also investigate the influence of coupled parameter on the
evolutive behavior of with respect to redshift . According to the
numerical result of , we get the current value of equation of state

Measurements of J/psi Decays into 2(pi+pi-)eta and 3(pi+pi-)eta
Based on a sample of 5.8X 10^7 J/psi events taken with the BESII detector,
the branching fractions of J/psi--> 2(pi+pi-)eta and J/psi-->3(pi+pi-)eta are
measured for the first time to be (2.26+-0.08+-0.27)X10^{-3} and
(7.24+-0.96+-1.11)X10^{-4}, respectively.Comment: 11 pages, 6 figure

BESII Detector Simulation
A Monte Carlo program based on Geant3 has been developed for BESII detector
simulation. The organization of the program is outlined, and the digitization
procedure for simulating the response of various sub-detectors is described.
Comparisons with data show that the performance of the program is generally
