Evaluación de autofertilidad en cultivares comerciales de girasol, en el ambiente de Santa Rosa, La Pampa, Argentina

Durante la Campafia agrícola 1993/94, se condujo un ensayo en el campo experimental de la Facultad de Agronomía de la UNLPam, tendiente a determinar la importancia del nivel de autofertilidad de híbridos comerciales de girasol (Helianthus annus L.) y de los polinizadores en el rendimiento y sus componentes. Para ello en el campo experimental de la Facultad de Agronomía de la Universidad Nacional de La Pampa, ubicado a 36° 41'S Y 64°16'0 Y a 340 msnm. se condujo un ensayo en bloques completamente aleatorizados, con tres repeticiones. Se utilizaron los hlbridos: Maxiflor, ACA 884, Agrobel 910, P 270, S 408, S 412, P 6440, Paraiso 2, Paraiso 3, G 101, G 100, Dekasol 3881, Prosol 37, NK Punta, Contiflor 3, Contiflor 7, Contiflor 9, M 735, M 703, Enano, TRITON, LI 75; los cuales fueron sometidos a dos tratamientos: capítulos tapados (sin acceso de polinizadores) y capltulos libres (con libre acceso de polinizadores). Estos materiales se compararon entre si para cada tratamiento y entre tratamientos. Los resultados obtenidos muestran una respuesta diferencial entre los distintos híbridos, dentro de cada tratamiento, para todas las variables analizadas. A su vez se encontraron diferencias significativas entre el tratamiento capítulos libres vs. capítulos tapados, para rendimiento, porcentaje de frutos vanos y frutos por capítulos.Director: Ing, Agr. Safety assessment of chronic oral exposure to iron oxide nanoparticles

Iron oxide nanoparticles with engineered physical and biochemical properties are finding a rapidly increasing number of biomedical applications. However, a wide variety of safety concerns, especially those related to oral exposure, still need to be addressed for iron oxide nanoparticles in order to reach clinical practice. Here, we report on the effects of chronic oral exposure to low doses of γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles in growing chickens. Animal observation, weight, and diet intake reveal no adverse signs, symptoms, or mortality. No nanoparticle accumulation was observed in liver, spleen, and duodenum, with feces as the main excretion route. Liver iron level and duodenal villi morphology reflect the bioavailability of the iron released from the partial transformation of γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles in the acid gastric environment. Duodenal gene expression studies related to the absorption of iron from γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles indicate the enhancement of a ferric over ferrous pathway supporting the role of mucins. Our findings reveal that oral administration of iron oxide nanoparticles is a safe route for drug delivery at low nanoparticle doses.Peer Reviewe

La Ponencia Colectiva (1937) de Arturo Serrano Plaja: una toma de posición literaria y política en la Guerra Civil

The Ponencia Colectiva, written by Arturo Serrano Plaja in the name of the Spanish youth, was not only a reflection on the writer's place in society, but also a statement in the concrete historical context of the Spanish Civil War. It was presented in the II Congreso Internacional de Escritores para la Defensa de la Cultura, which was inspired and directed by organisms and fellow travellers of the Communist Party. Those who signed the Ponencia Colectiva demanded an art centred in mankind, far away from the pure art and the propaganda art. They put at the disposal of the republican government, supported by the U.S.S.R., both their intellectual work and their effort as young men in the fight, rejecting the anarchic revolutionarism. They also declared their intellectual and political autonomy. This aspiration joined them to the project of the journal Hora de España, to which most of them were regular contributors.La Ponencia Colectiva, escrita por Arturo Serrano Plaja en nombre de la juventud, no sólo fue una reflexión sobre el oficio del escritor en la sociedad, sino también una toma de posición en el momento histórico concreto de la Guerra Civil Española. The Franciscan presence around Manila had a high architectonic relevance during the second half of the eighteenth century. Recently two new drawings of that time have been found in AFIO. They are plans of the Church of Virgen de Salambao (1765) and that of Los Baños (1782). The Franciscan constitutions had a special attention to architecture, therefore specific solutions were proposed, affecting later works.La presencia de los franciscanos en los alrededores de Manila tuvo una gran relevancia arquitectónica durante la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII. Recientemente se han localizado en el AFIO dos nuevos dibujos de esta fecha. Se trata de los croquis de la ermita de la Virgen de Salambao (1765) y de la iglesia de Los Baños (1782). Feature extraction based on bio-inspired model for robust emotion recognition

Emotional state identification is an important issue to achieve more natural speech interactive systems. Ideally, these systems should also be able to work in real environments in which generally exist some kind of noise. Several bio-inspired representations have been applied to artificial systems for speech processing under noise conditions. In this work, an auditory signal representation is used to obtain a novel bio-inspired set of features for emotional speech signals. These characteristics, together with other spectral and prosodic features, are used for emotion recognition under noise conditions. Neural models were trained as classifiers and results were compared to the well-known mel-frequency cepstral coefficients. Results show that using the proposed representations, it is possible to significantly improve the robustness of an emotion recognition system. Circular DNA elements of chromosomal origin are common in healthy human somatic tissue

Specific Heat Discontinuity, deltaC, at Tc in BaFe2(As0.7P0.3)2 - Consistent with Unconventional Superconductivity

We report the specific heat discontinuity, deltaC/Tc, at Tc = 28.2 K of a collage of single crystals of BaFe2(As0.7P0.3)2 and compare the measured value of 38.5 mJ/molK**2 with other iron pnictide and iron chalcogenide (FePn/Ch) superconductors. This value agrees well with the trend established by Bud'ko, Ni and Canfield who found that deltaC/Tc ~ a*Tc**2 for 14 examples of doped Ba1-xKxFe2As2 and BaFe2-xTMxAs2, where the transition metal TM=Co and Ni. We extend their analysis to include all the FePn/Ch superconductors for which deltaC/Tc is currently known and find deltaC/Tc ~ a*Tc**1.9 and a=0.083 mJ/molK**4. A comparison with the elemental superconductors with Tc>1 K and with A-15 superconductors shows that, contrary to the FePn/Ch superconductors, electron-phonon-coupled conventional superconductors exhibit a significantly different dependence of deltaC on Tc, namely deltaC/Tc ~ Tc**0.9. However deltaC/gamma*Tc appears to be comparable in all three classes (FePn/Ch, elemental and A-15) of superconductors with, e. g., deltaC/gamma*Tc=2.4 for BaFe2(As0.7P0.3)2. A discussion of the possible implications of these phenomenological comparisons for the unconventional superconductivity believed to exist in the FePn/Ch is given.Comment: some disagreement in reference and footnote numbering with the published versio
