Study of the Qualitative Characteristics of Rapeseed Oil Obtained by Cold Pressing
Oil from spring rape seeds obtained by cold pressing was selected as the object of this study. Oil samples were obtained under the following technological conditions: the annular gap was 0.7 mm in a grain chamber and the screw rotation speed was 160 rpm at a pressing temperature of 315 K. The oil composition was studied by gas-liquid chromatography on the Chromotech 5000 apparatus. Rapeseed oil characteristics were obtained with chromatograms. An increased content of linoleic acid 20% (Ï6) and linolenic acid 12% (Ï3) was revealed in the fatty acid composition of the sample. Fatty acids contribute to lipid metabolism regulation. They are of primary importance in the diet. The presence of 58.6% oleic acid (Ï9) was identified. The resulting rapeseed oil had healing properties due to the presence of Ï3, Ï6 and Ï9. Vitamin B, vitamin K, traces of vitamin A, and α, ÎČ + Îł, ÎŽ-tocopherols were found. α, ÎČ + Îł-tocopherols contribute to the oxidation process. According to these results, rapeseed oil can be confidently recommended for introduction into various food recipes.

Rapid Oscillations in Cataclysmic Variables. XVI. DW Cancri
We report photometry and spectroscopy of the novalike variable DW Cancri. The
spectra show the usual broad H and He emission lines, with an excitation and
continuum slope characteristic of a moderately high accretion rate. A
radial-velocity search yields strong detections at two periods, 86.1015(3) min
and 38.58377(6) min. We interpret these as respectively the orbital period
P_orb of the binary, and the spin period P_spin of a magnetic white dwarf. The
light curve also shows the spin period, plus an additional strong signal at
69.9133(10) min, which coincides with the difference frequency
1/P_spin-1/P_orb. These periods are stable over the 1 year baseline of
measurement.
This triply-periodic structure mimics the behavior of several
well-credentialed members of the "DQ Herculis" (intermediate polar) class of
cataclysmic variables. DQ Her membership is also suggested by the mysteriously
strong sideband signal (at nu_spin-nu_orb), attesting to a strong pulsed flux
at X-ray/EUV/UV wavelengths. DW Cnc is a new member of this class, and would be

Proposal for SPS beam time for the baby MIND and TASD neutrino detector prototypes
The design, construction and testing of neutrino detector prototypes at CERN
are ongoing activities. This document reports on the design of solid state baby
MIND and TASD detector prototypes and outlines requirements for a test beam at
CERN to test these, tentatively planned on the H8 beamline in the North Area,
which is equipped with a large aperture magnet. The current proposal is
submitted to be considered in light of the recently approved projects related
to neutrino activities with the SPS in the North Area in the medium term
2015-2020
Detailed Study of the Ursa Major Supercluster of Galaxies Using the 2MASS and SDSS Catalogs
We study the infrared (K_s band) properties of clusters of galaxies in the
Ursa Major supercluster using data from 2MASS (Two-Micron All-Sky Survey) and
SDSS (Sloan Digital Sky Survey). We identified three large filaments with mean
redshifts of z = 0.051, 0.060, and 0.071. All clusters of the supercluster are
located in these filaments. We determined the total K_s-band luminosities and
masses for 11 clusters of galaxies within comparable physical regions (within a
radius R_200 close to the virial radius) using a homogeneous method. We
constructed a combined luminosity function for the supercluster in this region,
which can be described by the Schechter function with the following parameters:
M*_K = -24^m.50 and \alpha = -0.98. The infrared luminosities of the clusters
of galaxies correlate with their masses; the M/L_K ratios of the systems
increase with their masses (luminosities), with most of the Ursa Major clusters
of galaxies (particularly the richer ones) closely following the relations
derived previously for a large sample of clusters and groups of galaxies. The
total mass-to-infrared-luminosity ratio is 52 M_{\odot}/L_{\odot} for six Abell
clusters and 49 M_{\odot}/L_{\odot} for all of the clusters, except Anon2.Comment: 16 pages, 5 figure
Formation of the internal structure of solids under severe action
On the example of a particular problem, the theory of vacancies, a new form
of kinetic equations symmetrically incorporation the internal and free energies
has been derived. The dynamical nature of irreversible phenomena at formation
and motion of defects (dislocations) has been analyzed by a computer
experiment. The obtained particular results are extended into a thermodynamic
identity involving the law of conservation of energy at interaction with an
environment (the 1st law of thermodynamics) and the law of energy
transformation into internal degree of freedom (relaxation). The identity is
compared with the analogous Jarzynski identity. The approach is illustrated by
simulation of processes during severe plastic deformation, the Rybin kinetic

Astrophysical and Astrobiological Implications of Gamma-Ray Burst Properties
Combining results for the local cosmic rate and mean peak luminosity of GRBs
with the cosmic history of the star formation rate, we provide estimates for
the local GRB rate per unit blue luminosity in galaxies. We find a typical GRB
rate per unit B luminosity of 2.4x10^-17 h_{70}^2/Lsun/yr. The corresponding
mean rate in the Milky Way is 5.5x10^-7 h_{70}^2/yr. We conclude: 1) the ratio
of supernova rate to isotropic equivalent GRB rate is large: more than 6000
SNIbc per GRB or 30,000 SNII per GRB. GRBs could arise in a large fraction of
black hole-forming events only with collimation in the range 0.01 - 0.001 and a
steep enough slope of the IMF; 2) GRBs cannot account for the majority of large
HI holes observed in galaxies; 3) the probability that the solar system was
exposed to a fluence large enough to melt the chondrules during the first 10^7
yr of solar system history is negligibly small; 4) Even for very opaque
atmospheres, a significant fraction of the GRB energy is transmitted as UV
lines due to excitation by secondary electrons. For eukaryotic-like organisms
in thin atmospheres (e.g. contemporary Mars), or for UV line exposure in thick
atmospheres (e.g. Earth), biologically significant events occur at a rate of
about 100--500 /Gyr. The direct contribution of these "jolts" to mutational
evolution may, however, be negligible because of the short duration of the
GRBs. Evolutionary effects due to partial sterilizations and to longer-lived

Dynamical Pion Production via Parametric Resonance from Disoriented Chiral Condensate
We discuss a dynamical mechanism of pion production from disoriented chiral
condensates (DCC). It leads to an explosive production of pions via the
parametric amplification mechanism, which is similar to the reheating mechanism
in inflationary cosmology. Classically, it is related with the instability in
the solutions of the Mathieu equation and we explore the quantum aspects of the
mechanism. We show that nonlinearlities and back reactions can be ignorable for
sufficiently long time under the small amplitude approximations of background
oscillations, which may be appropriate for the late stage of
nonequilibrium phase transition. It allows us to obtain an explicit quantum
state of the produced pions and , the squeezed state of BCS type.
Single particle distributions and two-pion correlation functions are computed
within these approximations. The results obtained illuminate the characteristic
features of multi-pion states produced through the parametric amplification
mechanism. In particular, two-pion correlations of various charge combinations
contain back-to-back correlations which cannot be masked by the identical

(Strange) Meson Interferometry at RHIC
We make predictions for the kaon interferometry measurements in Au+Au
collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). A first order phase
transition from a thermalized Quark-Gluon-Plasma (QGP) to a gas of hadrons is
assumed for the transport calculations. The fraction of kaons that are directly
emitted from the phase boundary is considerably enhanced at large transverse
momenta K_T ~ 1 GeV/c. In this kinematic region, the sensitivity of the
R_out/R_side ratio to the QGP-properties is enlarged. Here, the results of the
1-dimensional correlation analysis are presented. The extracted interferometry
radii, depending on , are not unusually large and are strongly affected by
