Ground effect plays a vital role in modulating the flow behavior over any streamlined body. The most widely used wing-in ground effect (WIG) aircrafts and seaplanes utilize this phenomenon in order to enhance the aerodynamic performance during the landing and take-off phases of flight. This paper investigates the aerodynamics of ground effect on a NACA 4412 rectangular wing without end plates. The experiment was conducted in a low-speed wind tunnel at Re=2×105 for the ground clearance of 1 and 0.5 of the chord, measured from the maximum thickness position on the airfoil. The pressure distribution over the chord length was recorded for α=3° and 6° to verify the effect of ground clearance during takeoffs. The results have shown to be in good accordance with the literature, as the coefficient of lift augmented with increase in ground proximity and the induced drag was minimized

U radu je opisana izolacija pet sastojaka petroleterske i diklormetanske frakcije metanolnog ekstrakta kore biljke Delonix regia: lupeol (1), epilupeol (2), β-sitosterol (3), stigmasterol (4) i p-metoksibenzaldehid (5). In this study five compounds, lupeol (1), epilupeol (2), β-sitosterol (3), stigmasterol (4) and p-methoxybenzaldehyde (5) were isolated from the petroleum ether and dichloromethane fractions of a methanolic extract of the stem bark of Delonix regia. Antimicrobial screening of the different extracts (15 μg mm2) was conducted by disc diffusion method. The zones of inhibition demonstrated by the petroleum ether, carbon tetrachloride and dichloromethane fractions ranged from 914 mm, 1113 mm and 920 mm, respectively, compared to kanamycin standard with the zone of inhibition of 2025 mm. In brine shrimp lethality bioassay, the carbon tetrachloride soluble materials demonstrated the highest toxicity with LC50 of 0.83 μg mL1, while petroleum ether and dichloromethane soluble partitionates of the methanolic extract revealed LC50 of 14.94 and 3.29 μg mL1, respectively, in comparison with standard vincristine sulphate with LC50 of 0.812 μg mL1. This is the first report on compounds separation from D. regia, their antimicrobial activity and cytotoxicity

Signet-ring cell carcinoma of the colon is a rare and aggressive form of colonic cancer which is associated with a very poor prognosis. Various studies have shown that the majority of these cases are encountered in late adulthood. We report a case of a 21-year old man who presented with abdominal pain and altered bowel habit. Colonoscopy examination showed a circumferential growth causing a narrowed bowel lumen at the descending colon. Both barium enema and computed tomography findings showed a long segment malignant stricture at the descending colon. Tissue biopsy indicated features of signet-ring cell carcinoma. He underwent segmental resection of the cancerous lesion with end colostomy when he presented to us with an obstructed and advanced malignant stricture of the descending colon

In this paper, copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles (NPs) was prepared by solution combustion technique. We used copper nitrate as an oxidizer and malic acid as a fuel to make three different CuO NPs by using different fuel ratios: low (M1), stoichiometric (M2), and high (M3). The XRD patterns show that the CuO NPs have the monoclinic structure with an average grain size of 17, 20, and 18 nm corresponding to M1, M2, and M3 respectively. The SEM images revealed that the CuO NPs prepared display bush as morphology consisting of a wheat-like structure for M1, rod-like structure for M2, and sheet-like structure for M3 sample. The FTIR spectrum shows that CuO NPs is successfully formed in all of the samples. A bandgap of around 3.26 eV can be seen in the UV-Vis spectrum. Also, the three samples are possessing antibacterial activity and are influenced by the crystalline size, shape, purity, and uniformity of the crystals. Among the three samples with a difference of morphology, the most influencing factor of antibacterial activity being the shape that of other larger-sized particles
