Social Network Dynamics and Psychological Adjustment Among University Students
The present study investigated the social network structure in a university class and how it changed over time. In addition, student rankings of social status in the class based on different network centrality measures were compared, and associations between students\u27 social status and psychological adjustment were evaluated. One university seminar class in which ten juniors and ten seniors were enrolled was followed for six months. Although the class network consisted of some disconnected subgroups at baseline, it became a single group at follow-up. In addition to these structural changes, measures of network integration (density and transitivity) also increased from baseline to follow-up. Comparisons of centrality measures indicated that the information centrality measure best captured thenetwork infrastructure compared to the betweenness, closeness, and degree centrality measures. Furthermore, among the centrality measures, information centrality had the most stablepositive association with psychological adjustment. Theoretical and practical implications of these peer network dynamics and adjustment issues are discussed
Charge writing at the LaAlO3/SrTiO3 surface
Biased conducting-tip atomic force microscopy (AFM) has been shown to write
and erase nanoscale metallic lines at the LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interface. Using
various AFM modes, we show the mechanism of conductivity switching is the
writing of surface charge. These charges are stably deposited on a wide range
of LaAlO3 thicknesses, including bulk crystals. A strong asymmetry with writing
polarity was found for 1 and 2 unit cells of LaAlO3, providing experimental
evidence for a theoretically predicted built-in potential.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures, plus supplementary information, submitted to

The classification of non-local chiral CFT with c<1
All non-local but relatively local irreducible extensions of Virasoro chiral
CFTs with c<1 are classified. The classification, which is a prerequisite for
the classification of local c<1 boundary CFTs on a two-dimensional half-space,
turns out to be 1 to 1 with certain pairs of A-D-E graphs with distinguished
vertices.Comment: 13 pages. v3: additional material (concerning the Hilbert spaces)

Transport and magnetic properties of Co-doped BaFe_{2}As_{2} epitaxial thin films
We report resistivity, Hall coefficient, current-voltage characteristics, and
magneto-optical imaging measurements of epitaxial Co-doped BaFe_{2}As_{2} thin
films deposited on MgO(001) substrate. The Hall resistivity of the films has a
substantial contribution arising from anomalous Hall effect of ferromagnetic
components. The critical current density (J_{c}) of the films is ~2 MA/cm^{2}
at low temperatures. Differential magneto-optical images of the remanent state
give similar J_{c} values and also exhibit presence of extended defects in the
film.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure
Adaptability of Maize--Italian Ryegrass Cropping to Variable Sowing Dates by Life Cycle Assessment in Southern Kyushu, Japan
Termination Control of the Interface Dipole in LaSrMnO/Nb:SrTiO (001) Schottky Junctions
In order to investigate the interface termination dependence of perovskite
band alignments, we have studied the Schottky barrier height at
LaSrMnO/Nb:SrTiO (001) heterointerfaces. As the
Nb:SrTiO semiconductor was varied from TiO termination to SrO
termination by variable insertion of a SrMnO layer, a large systematic
increase in the Schottky barrier height was observed. This can be ascribed to
the evolution of the interface dipole induced to screen the polar discontinuity
at the interface, which gives a large internal degree of freedom for tuning
band diagrams in oxides.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figure
Grazing Suitability of Various Napier Grass Varieties in Paddocks of Different Ages
Previous studies have demonstrated that late-heading type dwarf (DL) Napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schumach) introduced to Japan from Thailand by the Dairy Promotion Organization of Thailand was able to overwinter in the lowland areas of southern Kyushu (Mukhtar et al., 2003). The species has a higher proportion of leaf blade than other normal and dwarf varieties. These studies were conducted to assess the suitability of the various Napier grass varieties for grazing (Mukhtar et al., 2004). The objective of this study was to examine the grazing suitability, herbage quality and wintering ability of three Napier grass varieties for dairy cows on newly-established and four-year-old pastures in 2003 in Kyushu, Japan
The Effect of Annealing Temperatures After Thermomechanical Process to the Corrosion Behavior of Ni3(si,ti) in Sulfate Solution
The corrosion behaviour of the intermetallic compounds Ni3(Si,Ti) (L12: single phase), has been investigated using an immersion test, polarization method, scanning electron microscope in 0.5 kmol/m3 H2SO4 solution at 303 K. Moreover, the corrosion behaviour of austenitic stainless steel type 304 was studied under the same experimental conditions as reference. It was found that the intergranular attack and uniform attack were observed on Ni3(Si,Ti) after thermomechanical and annealing processes (1173K and 1273K) respectively in the immersion test. From the immersion test and polarization curves, all annealed Ni3(Si,Ti) had less corrosion resistance compared to type 304. In addition, Ni3(Si,Ti) was difficult to form a stable passive film, but not for type 304
