    Cross-Camera Human Motion Transfer by Time Series Analysis

    Along with advances in optical sensors is the increasingly common practice of building an imaging system with heterogeneous cameras. While high-resolution (HR) video acquisition and analysis benefit from hybrid sensors, the intrinsic characteristics of multiple cameras lead to a challenging motion transfer problem. In this paper, we propose an algorithm using time series analysis for motion transfer among multiple cameras. Specifically, we first identify seasonality in the motion data, and then build an additive time series model to extract patterns that could be transferred across different cameras. Our approach has a complete and clear mathematical formulation, and the algorithm is also efficient and interpretable. Through the experiment on real-world data, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. Furthermore, our motion transfer algorithm could combine with and facilitate downstream tasks, e.g., enhancing pose estimation on low-resolution (LR) videos with inherent patterns extracted from HR ones.Comment: 10 pages, 9 figure

    Improving Video Colorization by Test-Time Tuning

    With the advancements in deep learning, video colorization by propagating color information from a colorized reference frame to a monochrome video sequence has been well explored. However, the existing approaches often suffer from overfitting the training dataset and sequentially lead to suboptimal performance on colorizing testing samples. To address this issue, we propose an effective method, which aims to enhance video colorization through test-time tuning. By exploiting the reference to construct additional training samples during testing, our approach achieves a performance boost of 1~3 dB in PSNR on average compared to the baseline.     Urinary Arsenic Metabolites in Children and Adults Exposed to Arsenic in Drinking Water in Inner Mongolia, China

    BACKGROUND: We report the concentrations and distributions of urinary arsenic (As) metabolites in 233 residents exposed to 20, 90, or 160 μg/L inorganic arsenic (iAs) in drinking water from three villages in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, China, that formed one control and two exposed groups. METHODS: We used hydride generation-atomic absorption spectrometry (HGAAS) to determine iAs, monomethylarsonic acid (MMA), and dimethylarsinic acid (DMA). RESULTS: The concentrations of each urinary As species in the two exposed groups were significantly higher than in the control group for both children and adults. Both children and adults in exposed groups had higher percent iAs and MMA and lower percent DMA, and low primary and secondary methylation indices (PMI and SMI, respectively) than those in the control group. However, children showed significant increases in percent DMA and the SMI as well as decreases in the percent MMA when the iAs exposure level increased from 90 to 160 μg/L. In addition, children in the two exposed groups showed lower percent MMA but higher percent DMA and higher SMI than adults in the same exposed group. No significant differences in As metabolite concentrations and distributions were found between males and females in each group. A significant correlation was also found in the SMI between 11 pairs of children and their mothers from the 160-μg/L–exposed group. CONCLUSIONS: Children had higher a capacity for secondary methylation of As than adults when exposed to the same concentrations of iAs in drinking water. Exposure to As may increase the capacity for methylation in children to some extent

    The non-ballistic superluminal motion in the plane of the sky-II

    The model of non-ballistic jet motion proposed in 2008 provides a simple explanation to the inward jet motion and bent jet. Recently, evidences of such a non-radial motion increase rapidly, and more complicated morphologies appear. On the other hand, the ballistic plus precession model likely holds in majority samples of jet motion. This paper discusses the relationship between the ballistic and non-ballistic model of jet motion, which suggests that the interaction of ejectors with ambient matter can produce knots at different stages of evolution and hence different separations to the core. And as a jet precesses, knots produced between the core and the deceleration radius result in spiral pattern expected by the model of ballistic plus precession; and knots generated at the deceleration radius display non-radial motion such as bent jet or oscillation of ridge-line. This paper develops the first non-ballistic model in four aspects. Firstly, it provides a numerical simulation to the production of multi-knot for a precessing jet. Secondly, it fits the precession behavior of multi-knot and interprets the oscillation of ridge lines like S5 1803+784. Thirdly, it gives an unified interpretation to the bent jet applicable to both multi-knot and single knot. And fourthly, the problem of very large numbers of observed outward motions as opposed to the inward ones is addressed in a new scope.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, accepted by MNRA

    Freight mode coordination in China: from the perspective of regional differences

    Studying the coordination of varied freight modes from the perspective of geographic regions is conducive to understanding the regional differences, and this can provide effective countermeasures and suggestions for the sustainable and coordinated development of freight transport. To reflect on the effects of regional differences in the coordination of freight modes, we divided China into four regions: The East, Central, West, and Northeast. We examined freight mode coordination in terms of region and analysed the coordination of freight modes from three aspects: one within a single freight mode system, between varied freight modes, and among freight modes and the economy in different regions. We selected 19 freight indexes based on China's freight data from 2008 to 2017, and determined the relationship between the freight index and economic index gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate by means of stability, co-integration, and the Granger causality test. The coordination models within a single freight mode and among varied freight modes were established, and we conducted spatial autocorrelation between the freight mode and the economy. The results demonstrated that in the four regions of China, the single-freight mode had coordination of over 0.80; the coordination between waterway and aviation freight transport was over 0.83; and the coordination of varied freight modes in the Eastern region exceeded 0.78, with good overall coordination. Among the four regions, the spatial correlation between the Eastern and Western regions was not significant, while the correlation between the Central and Northeast regions was significant. The model and analysis methods established in this study were feasible and effective. In view of the universality of the model, it can be easily applied and generalized in or out of China

    <p>Abstract</p> <p><b>Background</b></p> <p>The goal of this study is to observe changes in HBcAg-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), natural killer (NK) and natural killer T (NKT) cells from peripheral blood and to relate such changes on viral clearance and liver injury in patients with acute hepatitis B (AHB).</p> <p><b>Methods</b></p> <p>Dynamic profiles on the frequency of HLA-A0201-restricted HBcAg18-27 pentamer complex (MHC-Pentamer)-specific CTLs and lymphocyte subsets in AHB patients were analyzed in addition to liver function tests, HBV serological markers, and HBV DNA levels. ELISPOT was used to detect interferon-gamma (INF-γ) secretion in specific CTLs stimulated with known T cell epitope peptides associated with HBV surface protein, polymerase, and core protein.</p> <p><b>Results</b></p> <p>HBV-specific CTL frequencies in AHB patients were much higher than in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) (p < 0.05). HBeAg and HBV DNA disappeared earlier in AHB patients with a high frequency of HBV-specific CTLs compared with those with a low frequency of HBV-specific CTLs (p = 0.001 and 0.024, respectively). INF-γ spots of effector cells stimulated by Pol575-583, Env348-357, or Core18-27 epitope peptides were significantly greater in AHB patients than in CHB patients (p < 0.01). CD3<sup>+</sup>CD8<sup>+ </sup>T cell numbers in AHB patients was more than observed in the healthy control group from the first to the fourth week after admission (p <it>= </it>0.008 and 0.01, respectively); the number of CD3<sup>+</sup>CD8<sup>+ </sup>T cells and frequency of HBcAg18-27-specific CTLs in AHB patients reached peak levels at the second week after admission. NK and NKT cell numbers were negatively correlated with the frequency of HBcAg-specific CTLs (<it>r </it>= -0.266, p = 0.05).</p> <p><b>Conclusions</b></p> <p>Patients with AHB possess a higher frequency of HBcAg-specific CTLs than CHB patients. The frequency of specific CTLs in AHB patients is correlated with HBeAg clearance indicating that HBV-specific CTLs play an important role in viral clearance and the self-limited process of the disease. Furthermore, NK and NKT cells are likely involved in the early, non-specific immune response to clear the virus.</p

    We report a molecular assay, Methyl-HiC, that can simultaneously capture the chromosome conformation and DNA methylome in a cell. Methyl-HiC reveals coordinated DNA methylation status between distal genomic segments that are in spatial proximity in the nucleus, and delineates heterogeneity of both the chromatin architecture and DNA methylome in a mixed population. It enables simultaneous characterization of cell-type-specific chromatin organization and epigenome in complex tissues
