At this time, the firms faced tight competition. The firms expected to manage the resources possessed to be able to win the competition. One method used to develop the brand with the expansion of related or unrelated to the parent brand. This strategy is done by utilizing the parent brand advertising campaign media. In the advertising, usually raises the figure endorser such as a celebrityor not to display the endorser with a familiar brand or unfamiliar brand. By looking at the ads with display support different endorser and brands make different consumer response to the perception of risk purchase that ultimately led to purchase intention the product extension. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of endorser support and brand familiarity to perception of purchase risk and its impact on purchase intention of brand extension products. This study tried to see the main effect of the  variables and its interactions with the effect that using a factorial experimental design 2 (endorser support) x 2 (brand familiarity) with between subject methods. Data were obtained from 120 respondents who are students of S1 Management Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Airlangga. The analysis showed that there were no significant difference from the endorser support and there are significant differences from the brand familiarity on perception of purchase risk and there is no interaction effect between the endorser support and brand familiarity for reduces the perception of risk perceived by consumers. Perception of risk purchase also significantly influence consumer purchase intentions on the product brand extension

A fuzzy periodic review integrated inventory model involving stochastic demand, imperfect production process and inspection errors

    Get PDF
In this study, we investigate an integrated production-inventory system consisting of a single-vendor and single-buyer. The buyer manages its inventory level periodically at a certain period of time. We consider a fuzzy annual demand, imperfect production, inspection errors, partial backordering, and adjustable production rate in the proposed model. Additionally, it is assumed that the protection interval demand follows a normal distribution. The model contributes to the current literature by allowing the inclusion of fuzzy annual demand, adjustable production rate and imperfect production and inspection processes. Our objective is to optimize the number of deliveries from vendor to buyer, the buyer’s review period, and the vendor’s production rate, so that the joint expected total annual cost incurred has the minimum value. Furthermore, an iterative procedure is proposed to find the optimal solutions of the model. We also provide a numerical example and conduct a simple sensitivity analysis to illustrate the model’s behaviour and feasibility. The results from the sensitivity analysis show that the defective rate, type I inspection error, fuzzy annual demand, fixed production cost, variable production cost and setup cost give impacts to both the review period and production rate. Finally, it is concluded that the proposed model can be applied by managers or practitiones for managing inventories across the supply chain involving a vendor and a buyer

Watermelon commodity has the highest productivity compared to other superior fruit commodities in Banyuwangi Regency. However, the land area and production of watermelon commodities are still quite volatile and their distribution is uneven. Therefore, a regional approach for watermelon commodities is needed in Banyuwangi Regency. This study aimed to determine the watermelon commodity base area, the characteristics of the watermelon commodity distribution, and the carrying capacity of the watermelon commodity on fruit horticultural crops in the Banyuwangi Regency. The determination of the research area was carried out intentionally in Banyuwangi Regency. The analytical methods used were Location Quotient (LQ) analysis, localization and specialization analysis, as well as Basic Service Ratio (BSR) and Regional Multiplier (RM) analysis. The results of the analysis show that the sub-district area was the basis for watermelon commodities in Banyuwangi Regency. The characteristics of the distribution of watermelon commodities in the Banyuwangi Regency were not localized. Watermelon farming activities are not concentrated in one sub-district but spread to several sub-districts in Banyuwangi Regency. The results of the analysis of the Basic Service Ratio (BSR) and Regional Multiplier (RM) of watermelon commodities produce more than one value. The existence of watermelon commodity farming activities can support fruit horticultural farming activities in Banyuwangi Regency
