Waveform design with constellation extension for OFDM dual-functional radar-communications

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is widely used and works efficiently for the communication, but emerging applications requires OFDM to be flexible to meet sensing requirements. The time-frequency waveform design of OFDM for dual-functional radar-communications (DFRC) is critical to achieve the future communication and sensing requirements. Therefore, we propose a novel method to minimize Cramér-Rao bounds (CRBs) of the delay and Doppler estimation to improve radar performance of an OFDM DFRC system. Although some methods are proposed in the literature to improve the CRBs, these methods either require feedforward signaling or subcarrier reservation. However, it is possible to exploit the constellation extension of quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) to achieve lower CRBs without these requirements. Therefore, the proposed method provides a transparent communication along with the CRB minimization for conventional OFDM systems. For the evaluation of the proposed method, CRB and symbol error rate (SER) are considered in the simulation results. Biyomedikal Parçalarin Eklemeli İmlatla (3d Baski) Üretimi

Eklemeli üretim teknolojisi ve tıpta uygulaması 1980’lerin başlarından itibaren gelişmeye başladı. Bugün bu teknoloji kısaca 3D baskı takma bacaktan uçak parçalarına kadar her şeyin üretilmesini olanaklı kılan bir teknoloji halini almıştır. Bu çalışmada, metal esaslı malzemelerin eklemeli-kat kat üretim yöntemiyle şekillendirilmesinin avantajlarına değinilmiştir. Eklemeli üretimde kullanılan metal tozlar, özellikleri ve kullanım alanları biyomedikal alan ekseninde tanıtılmıştır. 3D Baskı ürünler, standart üretim metotlarıyla şekillendirilmiş ürünlerle karşılaştırılmış, mekanik ve fiziksel özellikleri de açıklanmıştır

Bir köpekte gerçek hermafrodismus: Olgu sunumu

True hermaphroditism in a dog is described in this case report. An eight month old cross-breed dog with enlarged structure protruding from the vulva was brought for an ovariohysterectomie operation. Physical examinations exposed the presence of an os clitoris and urethral orifice at the base of the os clitoris. Exploratory laparotomy was performed as a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure. Both gonadal tissues and the genital tract were removed during surgery and brought to the laboratory for pathological examinations. Microscopic examinations showed that the right gonad had both seminiferous tubules like testis and primer follicles like ovarium. The concentrations of serum progesterone, testosterone and 17β-estradiol were 0,188 ng/ml, 1,008 ng/ml and 23,61 pg/ml respectively. We concluded that this is a true hermaphrodismus case due to the simultaneous presence of two sex gonads.Bu çalışmada, gerçek hermafrodit bir köpek anlatılmıştır. Vulvasından dışarıya doğru çıkan büyük bir kitle olan 8 aylık melez bir köpek kısırlaştırma operasyonu için araştırma merkezimize getirildi. Fiziksel muayenelerde os klitorisin varlığı ve bunun bazalinde uretral deliğin olduğu saptandı. Teşhis ve tedavi amacıyla hayvana ovariohysterectomie operasyonu uygulandı. Her iki gonadal doku ve uterus patolojik incelemeler için laboratuvara gönderildi. Mikroskobik incelemeler, sağ gonadın hem testis gibi seminifer tubuller hem de ovaryum gibi primer foliküller içerdiğini gösterdi. Serum progesteron, 17β-östradiol ve testosteron düzeyleri sırasıyla 0,188 ng/ml, 23,61 pg/ml, 1,008 ng/ml olarak ölçüldü. Köpekte her iki gonadal dokunun aynı anda bulunması nedeniyle olgunun bir gerçek hermafrodismus olgusu olduğu kanısına varıldı

Türk Mutfağında Füzyon Uygulamalarına Yaklaşım Ölçeğinin Geçerlenmesi

Bu çalışmada Türk mutfağında füzyon uygulamalarına yaklaşım ölçeğinin geçerlenmesi ve bireylerin füzyon mutfak uygulamalarına (yeni yiyeceklere) yaklaşımlarının tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu bağlamda Fransız ve İtalyan mutfağından yararlanılarak Türk mutfağına ait ürünlerle füzyon mutfağı uygulamaları belirlenmiştir. Çalışma örneklemini Ankara ili Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığında çalışan kamu personelinden kolaylıkla bulunabilen örnekleme yöntemiyle gönüllü olarak katılan 110’u kadın 147’si erkek toplam 257 birey oluşturmuştur. Çalışmada kullanılan Türk mutfağında füzyon uygulamalarına yaklaşım ölçme aracının geçerlik ve güvenirlik katsayısının uygun olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Türk mutfağında füzyon uygulamalarına yaklaşım ölçeğinin “Haşhaşlı otlu krep tadarım”, “Tahinli galetta tadarım”, “Kuru meyvelerle hazırlanmış biscotti tadarım” gibi ifadelerden oluşan “yenilikçi” alt boyutu ile cinsiyet değişkenine göre, erkeklerin kadınlara göre hem Türk Fransız mutfağı hem de Türk İtalyan mutfağı füzyon uygulamalarında yenilikçi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Türk mutfağında füzyon uygulamalarına yaklaşım ölçeğinin “şüpheci” alt boyutu ile yurtdışı deneyimi değişkenine göre, yurt dışı deneyimi olan bireylerin yurtdışı deneyimi olmayan bireylere göre daha şüpheci olduğu saptanmıştır. Türk mutfağında füzyon uygulamalarına yaklaşım ölçeğinin “Devekuşu yumurtası ile hazırlanmış sebzeli Frittata (İtalyan omleti) tatmam”, “Chianti şarabı ile marine edilmiş kuzu şiş tatmam” gibi ifadelerden oluşan “gelenekçi” alt boyutta, erkeklere göre kadınların Türk İtalyan mutfağı füzyon uygulama ürünlerinde daha az gelenekçi olduğu bulunmuştur. Türk mutfağında füzyon mutfak uygulamaları, geleneksel mutfak kültürüne alışkın toplumlar için yeni bir mutfak akımı olup, bu akımda sunulan ürünlerin tamamı yeni birer gastronomik ürün olarak ele alınabilir

Public safety network design for broadband wireless access

Public protection and disaster relief (PPDR) agencies rely on wireless communications to respond in the event of emergencies. Public safety networks (PSNs) provide the wireless network used by emergency services. PSN is used to support push-to-talk services with some data transmission by employing land mobile radios. However, PPDR agencies are increasingly relying on additional information such as videos that require higher bandwidths. Therefore, many countries are transitioning or integrating their public safety networks with advanced broadband wireless communication systems such as fourth-generation (4G) long-term evolution (LTE) and planning to evolve to fifth-generation (5G) new radio (NR) in the future. The paper investigates infrastructure sharing mechanisms and deployment strategies in the transition of PSNs to a 4G LTE network, including a roadmap for cost analysis. Additionally, the paper examines LTE-based PSN deployment scenarios in various countries and engages in a discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of different sharing mechanisms and coexistence schemes. Finally, the challenges within the Public Safety Broadband Network (PSBN) are addressed and potential future research directions in this domain are deliberated

Gallstone disease does not predict liver histology in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

Background/Aims: We sought to examine whether the presence of gallstone disease (GD) in patients with biopsy-proven nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is associated with liver fibrosis and histological nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) score. Methods: We included 441 Turkish patients with biopsy-proven NAFLD. GD was diagnosed in the presence of sonographic evidence of gallstones, echogenic material within the gallbladder with constant shadowing and little or no visualization of the gallbladder or absence of gallbladder at ultrasonography, coupled with a history of cholecystectomy. Results: Fifty-four patients (12.2%) had GD (GD+ subjects). Compared with the GD- subjects, GD+ patients were older, had a higher body mass index and were more likely to be female and have metabolic syndrome. However, GD+ patients did not have a higher risk of advanced fibrosis or definite NASH on histology. After adjustment for potential confounding variables, the prevalence of GD in NAFLD patients was not associated with significant fibrosis (>= 2) (odds ratio [OR], 1.06; 95% confidence interval [Cl], 0.53 to 2.21; p=0.68) or definite NASH (OR, 1.03; 95% Cl, 0.495 to 2.12; p=0.84). Conclusions: The presence of GD is not independently associated with advanced fibrosis and definite NASH in adult Turkish patients with biopsy-proven NAFLD
