Summary of drug therapy to treat cognitive impairment-induced obstructive sleep apnea
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a severe sleep disorder associated with intermittent hypoxia and sleep fragmentation. Cognitive impairment is a signifi- cant and common OSA complication often described in such patients. The most commonly utilized methods in clinical OSA treatment are oral appliances and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). However, the current therapeutic methods for improving cognitive function could not achieve the expected efficacy in same patients. Therefore, further understanding the molecular mechanism behind cognitive dysfunction in OSA disease will provide new treatment methods and targets. This review briefly summarized the clinical manifestations of cognitive impairment in OSA disease. Moreover, the pathophysiological molecular mechanism of OSA was outlined. Our study concluded that both SF and IH could induce cognitive impairment by multiple signaling pathways, such as oxidative stress activation, inflammation, and apoptosis. However, there is a lack of effective drug therapy for cognitive impairment in OSA. Finally, the therapeutic potential of some novel compounds and herbal medicine was evaluated on attenuating cognitive impairment based on certain preclinical studies
Full-Duplex Versus Half-Duplex Amplify-and-Forward Relaying: Which is More Energy Efficient in 60-GHz Dual-Hop Indoor Wireless Systems?
We provide a comprehensive energy efficiency (EE) analysis of the full-duplex (FD) and half-duplex (HD) amplify-and-forward (AF) relay-assisted 60-GHz dual-hop indoor wireless systems, aiming to answer the question of which relaying mode is greener (more energy efficient) and to address the issue of EE optimization. We develop an opportunistic relaying mode selection scheme, where FD relaying with one-stage self-interference cancellation (passive suppression) or two-stage self-interference cancellation (passive suppression + analog cancellation) or HD relaying is opportunistically selected, together with transmission power adaptation, to maximize the EE with given channel gains. A low-complexity joint mode selection and EE optimization algorithm are proposed. We show a counter-intuitive finding that with a relatively loose maximum transmission power constraint, FD relaying with two-stage self-interference cancellation is preferable to both FD relaying with one-stage self-interference cancellation and HD relaying, resulting in a higher optimized EE. A full range of power consumption sources is considered to rationalize our analysis. The effects of imperfect self-interference cancellation at relay, drain efficiency, and static circuit power on EE are investigated. Simulation results verify our theoretical analysis

Arabidopsis SWR1-associated protein methyl-CpG-binding domain 9 is required for histone H2A.Z deposition.
Deposition of the histone variant H2A.Z by the SWI2/SNF2-Related 1 chromatin remodeling complex (SWR1-C) is important for gene regulation in eukaryotes, but the composition of the Arabidopsis SWR1-C has not been thoroughly characterized. Here, we aim to identify interacting partners of a conserved Arabidopsis SWR1 subunit ACTIN-RELATED PROTEIN 6 (ARP6). We isolate nine predicted components and identify additional interactors implicated in histone acetylation and chromatin biology. One of the interacting partners, methyl-CpG-binding domain 9 (MBD9), also strongly interacts with the Imitation SWItch (ISWI) chromatin remodeling complex. MBD9 is required for deposition of H2A.Z at a distinct subset of ARP6-dependent loci. MBD9 is preferentially bound to nucleosome-depleted regions at the 5' ends of genes containing high levels of activating histone marks. These data suggest that MBD9 is a SWR1-C interacting protein required for H2A.Z deposition at a subset of actively transcribing genes
