    Aqua MODIS Electronic Crosstalk on SMWIR Bands 20 to 26

    Aqua MODIS Moon images obtained with bands 20 to 26 (3.66 - 4.55 and 1.36 - 1.39 ÎĽ\mum) during scheduled lunar events show evidence of electronic crosstalk contamination of the response of detector 1. In this work, we determined the sending bands for each receiving band. We found that the contaminating signal originates, in all cases, from the detector 10 of the corresponding sending band and that the signals registered by the receiving and sending detectors are always read out in immediate sequence. We used the lunar images to derive the crosstalk coefficients, which were then applied in the correction of electronic crosstalk striping artifacts present in L1B images, successfully restoring product quality.Comment: Accepted to be published in the IEEE 2017 International Geoscience & Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS 2017), scheduled for July 23-28, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas, US

    A Decision Method for Online Purchases Considering Dynamic Information Preference Based on Sentiment Orientation Classification and Discrete DIFWA Operators

    © 2013 IEEE. Online reviews are crucial for evaluating product features and supporting consumers' purchase decisions. However, as a result of online buying behaviors, consumer habits, and discrete dynamic distribution characteristics of online reviews, and consumers typically randomly choose a limited number of reviews from discrete time frames among all reviews and give more weight to recent review information and less weight to earlier information to support their online purchase decisions; moreover, existing studies have ignored the discrete random dynamic characteristics and dynamic information preferences of consumers. To address this issue, this paper proposes a method based on sentiment orientation classification and discrete DIFWA (DDIFWA) operators for online purchase decisions considering dynamic information preferences. In this method, we transformed review texts from original discrete time slices to discrete random features, extracted product features based on the constructed feature and sentiment dictionaries, and matched pairs of features and sentiment phrases in the dictionaries. We subsequently employed three types of semantic orientation by defining semantic rules to extract the product features of each review. Of note, the semantic orientations were transformed from discrete time to semantic intuitionistic fuzzy numbers and semantic intuitionistic fuzzy information matrixes. Furthermore, we proposed two DDIFWA operators to aggregate the dynamic semantic intuitionistic fuzzy information. Specifically, we obtained the rankings of alternative products and their features to support consumers' purchase decisions using the intuitionistic fuzzy scoring function and the 'vertical projection distance' method. Finally, comparisons and experiments are provided to demonstrate the plausibility of our methods

    Seismic Effect Evaluation for Underground Space & Structures

    It is stressed in this paper that in a strong earthquake the damages of all the underground structures, chambers or any sort of underground space differed quite a lot from that on the ground surface. Numerous evidences show ground motion attenuates immensely downward with depth. However, the earthquake resistance design for underground structures still ignores this fact and sticks to the criteria of ground structures. As a result, very conservative and exhausting design for underground engineering were caused. Through a series of investigations and based on the comparison between the ground damages and the underground damages of the same site, the authors tried to establish an empirical relationship among the predicted intensity/acceleration for aseismic design, the lithology of ambient strata, depth of embedment and the geometry {width/height ratio) of the underground space/structure. As a conclusion, this paper gives a clear picture of how different the underground damages would be from the ground surface and to what range the ground movement would change due to the existence of underground space directly underneath. This approach might be useful for modifying the criteria of a design earthquake for either ground or underground construction

    Unified nonequilibrium dynamical theory for exchange bias and training effects

    We investigate the exchange bias and training effects in the FM/AF heterostructures using a unified Monte Carlo dynamical approach. This real dynamical method has been proved reliable and effective in simulating dynamical magnetization of nanoscale magnetic systems. The magnetization of the uncompensated AF layer is still open after the first field cycling is finished. Our simulated results show obvious shift of hysteresis loops (exchange bias) and cycling dependence of exchange bias (training effect) when the temperature is below 45 K. The exchange bias fields decrease with decreasing the cooling rate or increasing the temperature and the number of the field cycling. With the simulations, we show the exchange bias can be manipulated by controlling the cooling rate, the distributive width of the anisotropy energy, or the magnetic coupling constants. Essentially, these two effects can be explained on the basis of the microscopical coexistence of both reversible and irreversible moment reversals of the AF domains. Our simulated results are useful to really understand the magnetization dynamics of such magnetic heterostructures.     The impact of consumer skepticism on blockchain-enabled sustainability disclosure in a supply chain

    The growing recognition of sustainable supply chain practices is indisputable. Nevertheless, consumer skepticism regarding the credibility of product sustainability information, which includes environmental impact and social responsibility, poses a significant challenge. Blockchain-enabled disclosure has surfaced as a promising approach to address this skepticism. In this paper, a game-theoretical model is developed to investigate the investment strategy in blockchain-enabled disclosure within a supply chain composed of one retailer and two manufacturers, each selling products with varying levels of sustainability. Considering consumer skepticism, we assume that consumers who trust sustainability information are willing to pay a premium for sustainable products, while skeptical consumers are not. Our analysis suggests that blockchain-enabled disclosure can effectively increase consumer trust in sustainability information and promote sustainable practices. However, our findings reveal a potential pitfall: intensified market competition between manufacturers, leading to reduced profits for both, while the retailer persistently benefits from blockchain-enabled disclosure. Furthermore, we find non-monotonic effects of consumer skepticism on retailer and manufacturer profits, with certain conditions resulting in a decreased likelihood of investing in blockchain-enabled disclosure as skepticism increases. Lastly, we examine the government-mandated disclosure policy, illustrating that such policy can generate a win–win situation for society and the environment by improving social welfare and environmental performance

    The BCS-like gap in superconductor SmFeAsO_0.85F_0.15

    Since the discovery of superconductivity in the cuprates two decades ago, it has been firmly established that the CuO_2 plane is consequential for high T_C superconductivity and a host of other very unusual properties. A new family of superconductors with the general composition of LaFeAsO_(1-x)F_x has recently been discovered but with the conspicuous lacking of the CuO_2 planes, thus raising the tantalizing questions of the different pairing mechanisms in these oxypnictide superconductors. Intimately related to pairing in a superconductor are the superconducting gap, its value, structure, and temperature dependence. Here we report the observation of a single gap in the superconductor SmFeAsO_0.85F_0.15 with T_C = 42 K as measured by Andreev spectroscopy. The gap value of 2Delta = 13.34+/-0.3 meV gives 2Delta/k_BT_C = 3.68, close to the BCS prediction of 3.53. The gap decreases with temperature and vanishes at T_C in a manner consistent with the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) prediction but dramatically different from that of the pseudogap behavior in the cuprate superconductors. Our results clearly indicate a nodeless gap order parameter, which is nearly isotropic in size across different sections of the Fermi surface, and are not compatible with models involving antiferromagnetic fluctuations, strong correlations, t-J model, and the like, originally designed for cuprates.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figure

    How can emerging-market SMEs domestically benefit from their performance in developed countries? Empirical evidence from China

    Many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from emerging economies consider entry into developed markets as a way to promote home country performance. Nevertheless, the extant literature aiming at large companies are not applicable to SMEs, and it is unclear how SMEs with a weak resource basis can improve their domestic performance through overseas venturing. This study leverages a resource-based view on data from 377 Chinese SMEs with operations in developed nations. The findings reveal that emerging-market firms’ overseas performance (both financial and non-financial) is positively related to their home country performance, with the technological learning and demonstration effect playing mediating roles. The relationship between host country performance and technological learning is positively moderated by firms’ resource integration capability. This study is among the first to identify the mechanism through which emerging-market SMEs’ operations in developed countries affects their home country performance. The findings are helpful in guiding emerging-market SMEs’ internationalization
