    Conocimientos y actitudes ante el plagio del profesorado de lengua inglesa en universidades chinas

    El plagio ha generado preocupaciones crecientes en el círculo académico en las últimas décadas. Aunque estudios anteriores han investigado el plagio del estudiante desde varias perspectivas, todavía hay poca investigación sobre cómo los profesores universitarios entienden el plagio y responden ante él, especialmente en contextos escritos en la enseñanza del inglés como lengua extranjera (EFL). Como expertos académicos y educadores de futuros académicos, los profesores universitarios desempeñan un papel clave en la formación de los estudiantes contra el plagio y en la defensa de la integridad académica. Sus conocimientos y actitudes con respecto al plagio no solo tienen una influencia crucial sobre las percepciones estudiantiles hacia el plagio, sino que también pueden proporcionar ideas sobre cómo las universidades resuelven el problema. El presente estudio pretende abordar este desequilibrio en la investigación sobre el plagio, centrándose en una muestra de 108 profesores de 38 universidades chinas. Basándose en datos cuantitativos y cualitativos obtenidos de juicios textuales y de redacciones, se examina: 1) si los docentes de EFL en universidades chinas comparten los conceptos angloamericanos del plagio; 2) qué postura tienen en los casos de plagio detectados; 3) qué factores pueden influir en sus comprensiones. Los resultados de este estudio problematizan la opinión popular y simplista de que los escritores chinos de inglés como lengua extranjera son indulgentes en cuanto al plagio, y señalan que las experiencias académicas y educativas tienen mucha influencia sobre sus percepciones y actitudes hacia el plagioPlagiarism has engendered increasing concern in academia in the past few decades.     Simulation of the effect of stand-off parameter on collapse behaviours of a single cavitation bubble in jet drilling

    Cavitation jet drilling has been extensively employed for the exploitation of geo-energy resources. The dynamics of cavitation bubbles in close proximity to the solid boundary have been a subject of great interest during jet drilling, as they play a crucial role in determining the cavitation performance. In present work, the dynamics of a single cavitation bubble near a solid surface is numerically investigated by using the axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations and the volume of fluid method with considering the surface tension of gas-liquid interface, liquid viscosity and compressibility of gas in bubble. The simulated profiles are qualitatively and quantitatively consistent with the experimental images, which proves the reliability of employed numerical model. The effects of stand-off distance on the bubble profiles, bubble volume and collapse time have been analysed. Moreover, the cavitation erosion patterns towards the solid wall are also revealed for different dimensionless standoff distances. The simulation results reveal two distinct collapse patterns for the bubble profiles. The solid wall significantly impedes the shrinkage rate of the bubble, resulting in the longest collapse time when the dimensionless stand-off distance is 1.0. Three erosion patterns of cavitation bubbles towards the solid wall are observed, with the shock wave and micro-jet both contributing significantly to the damage caused by cavitation erosion.     Exogenous High-Mobility Group Box 1 Protein Injection Improves Cardiac Function after Myocardial Infarction: Involvement of Wnt Signaling Activation

    Exogenous high-mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB1) injection could prevent left ventricular remodeling and enhance left ventricular function during myocardial infarction (MI). However, the mechanism remains unclear. This paper was to investigate in the mechanism of cardioprotection of HMGB1 during MI in rats. Anesthetized male rats were treated once with HMGB1 (200 ng) 4 h after MI and then executed after 7 and 28 days, respectively. Cardiac function, collagen deposition, and dishevelled-1 and β-catenin protein expression were measured. After MI 7 days or 28 days, the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was significantly decreased compared to that of sham-operated control group (P < 0.05). However, the LVEF HMGB1-treated groups were significantly higher compared to those of the MI group in both 7 days and 28 days (P < 0.05). The collagen volume fraction was significantly reduced in the HMGB1-treated group in infarcted border zone. HMGB1 could activate the expression of dishevelled-1 and β-catenin proteins (P < 0.05). Our study suggested that exogenous high-mobility group box 1 protein injection improves cardiac function after MI, which may be involved in Wnt/β-catenin signaling activation

    Online Coupling of Lab-on-Valve Format to Amperometry Based on Polyvinylpyrrolidone-Doped Carbon Paste Electrode and Its Application to the Analysis of Morin

    The potential capabilities and analytical performance of lab-on-valve (LOV) manifold as a front end to amperometry have been explored for the on-line determination of morin. Meanwhile, the electrochemical behaviors of morin were investigated based on polyvinylpyrrolidone- (PVP-) doped carbon paste electrode (CPE), which found that PVP can significantly improve its oxidation peak current. The excellent amperometric current response was achieved when the potential difference (ΔE) of 0.6 V was implemented in pH 6.5 phosphate buffer solution (PBS) that served as the supporting electrolyte. A well-defined oxidation peak has been obtained in studies using PVP as a modifier of CPE based on the oxidation of morin. The present work introduces the LOV technique as a useful tool for amperometric measurement, documents advantages of using programmable flow, and outlines means for miniaturization of assays on the basis of PVP modified CPE. The proposed method was applied successfully to the determination of morin in real samples, and the spiked recoveries were satisfactory

    Contents and benthic fluxes of nutrients in sediment pore water of Southern Ocean

    The concentration and profile characters of nutrients in sediment pore water of the South Ocean, sampled during the cruise of CHINARE218 of the austral summer 2001 /02 were determined. The results show that the content of SiO3-Si and NH4-N were much higher than other nutrients. The profile of SiO3-Si was characterized with sharp gradients near the sediment-water interface, profile distribution of silicate show that during the diagenetic reaction of silicate, dissolution was the main part. The organic matter decomposition was occurred under the anaerobic condition. Benthic fluxes of SiO3-Si, NH4-N were from pore water to overlying water, and regeneration of silicate and ammonium were the main part of the nutrient regeneration from the pore water of the study area

    A BrLINE1-RUP insertion in BrCER2 alters cuticular wax biosynthesis in Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa L. ssp. pekinensis)

    Glossiness is an important quality-related trait of Chinese cabbage, which is a leafy vegetable crop in the family Brassicaceae. The glossy trait is caused by abnormal cuticular wax accumulation. In this study, on the basis of a bulked segregant analysis coupled with next-generation sequencing (BSA-seq) and fine-mapping, the most likely candidate gene responsible for the glossy phenotype of Chinese cabbage was identified. It was subsequently named Brcer2 because it is homologous to AtCER2 (At4g24510). A bioinformatics analysis indicated a long interspersed nuclear element 1 (LINE-1) transposable element (named BrLINE1-RUP) was inserted into the first exon of Brcer2 in HN19-G via an insertion-mediated deletion mechanism, which introduced a premature termination codon. Gene expression analysis showed that the InDel mutation of BrCER2 reduced the transcriptional expression levels of Brcer2 in HN19-G. An analysis of cuticular waxes suggested that a loss-of-function mutation to BrCER2 in Chinese cabbage leads to a severe decrease in the abundance of very-long-chain-fatty-acids (&gt; C28), resulting in the production of a cauline leaf, inflorescence stem, flower, and pistil with a glossy phenotype. These findings imply the insertion of the LINE-1 transposable element BrLINE1-RUP into BrCER2 can modulate the waxy traits of Chinese cabbage plants

    Critical Roles of microRNA-141-3p and CHD8 in Hypoxia/Reoxygenation-Induced Cardiomyocyte Apoptosis

    Background: Cardiovascular diseases are currently the leading cause of death in humans. The high mortality of cardiac diseases is associated with myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (I/R). Recent studies have reported that microRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in cell apoptosis. However, it is not known yet whether miR-141-3p contributes to the regulation of cardiomyocyte apoptosis. It has been well established that in vitro hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) model can follow in vivo myocardial I/R injury. This study aimed to investigate the effects of miR-141-3p and CHD8 on cardiomyocyte apoptosis following H/R. Results: We found that H/R remarkably reduces the expression of miR-141-3p but enhances CHD8 expression both in mRNA and protein in H9c2 cardiomyocytes. We also found either overexpression of miR-141-3p by transfection of miR-141-3p mimics or inhibition of CHD8 by transfection of small interfering RNA (siRNA) significantly decrease cardiomyocyte apoptosis induced by H/R. Moreover, miR-141-3p interacts with CHD8. Furthermore, miR-141-3p and CHD8 reduce the expression of p21. Conclusion: MiR-141-3p and CHD8 play critical roles in cardiomyocyte apoptosis induced by H/R. These studies suggest that miR-141-3p and CHD8 mediated cardiomyocyte apoptosis may offer a novel therapeutic strategy against myocardial I/R injury-induced cardiovascular diseases

    The effect of intermittent versus continuous enteral feeding for critically ill patients: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

    ObjectivesThe appropriate strategy for enteral feeding in critically ill patients still remains controversial. Therefore, we conducted this meta-analysis to compare the effect of intermittent versus continuous enteral feeding method for critically ill patients.MethodsElectronic databases including PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Cochrane Library were searched up to April 10th, 2023 for randomized controlled trials evaluating the effect of intermittent versus continuous enteral feeding for critically ill patients. The primary outcomes were feeding intolerances, including diarrhea, vomiting, distension, constipation, gastric retention, and aspiration pneumonia. The secondary outcomes were mortality in intensive care unit (ICU), length of stay in ICU, and achievement of nutritional goal.ResultsThirteen studies with a total of 884 patients were analyzed in this meta-analysis. Overall, the use of intermittent enteral feeding was associated with higher incidence of diarrhea (OR 1.66, 95%CI 1.13 to 2.43, I2 = 16%) and distension (OR 2.29, 95%CI 1.16 to 4.51, I2 = 0%), lower incidence of constipation (OR 0.58, 95%CI 0.37 to 0.90, I2 = 0%), and longer length of ICU stay (MD 1.09, 95%CI 0.53 to 1.64, I2 = 0%). Moreover, no significant difference was identified for other outcome measures.ConclusionIn critically ill patients, the implementation of intermittent enteral feeding was associated with higher incidence of diarrhea and distension, longer length of ICU stay, but lower occurrence of constipation. Nevertheless, the absence of sufficient high-quality randomized controlled clinical trials precludes any definitive conclusions regarding the optimal approach to enteral feeding in this population. There is an imperative need for more studies to further assess the efficacy of the two enteral feeding strategies

    Instruction Tuning for Large Language Models: A Survey

    This paper surveys research works in the quickly advancing field of instruction tuning (IT), a crucial technique to enhance the capabilities and controllability of large language models (LLMs). Instruction tuning refers to the process of further training LLMs on a dataset consisting of \textsc{(instruction, output)} pairs in a supervised fashion, which bridges the gap between the next-word prediction objective of LLMs and the users' objective of having LLMs adhere to human instructions. In this work, we make a systematic review of the literature, including the general methodology of IT, the construction of IT datasets, the training of IT models, and applications to different modalities, domains and applications, along with an analysis on aspects that influence the outcome of IT (e.g., generation of instruction outputs, size of the instruction dataset, etc). We also review the potential pitfalls of IT along with criticism against it, along with efforts pointing out current deficiencies of existing strategies and suggest some avenues for fruitful research.Comment: A Survey paper, Pre-prin
