Space Systems/Loral (formerly Ford Aerospace, Space Systems Division) has implemented a rigid-body Mirror Motion Compensation (MMC) scheme for the GOES-I/M spacecraft currently being built for NASA and NOAA. This has resulted in a factor of 15 reduction in pointing error due to rigid-body spacecraft motion induced by the periodic black-body calibration maneuvers required for the instruments. For GOES the spacecraft and the payload mirrors are considered as rigid bodies. The structural flexibility effects are small and are included in the total pointing budget as a separate item. This paper extends the MMC technique to include structural flexibility. For large multi-payload platforms, the structural flexibility effects can be more important in sensor pointing jitter as the result of payload motion. Sensitivity results are included to show the importance of the dynamic model fidelity

The patient in the present clinical case presents with ankle instability and a restricted range of tibiofibularastragalus joint mobility as a sequel to a bimalleolar fracture of one year's evolution. The main objective is to provide a structured action plan that allows the recovery of ankle functionality and to improve the instability inherent to this type of pathology. Methodology: A clinical examination was carried out on a stretcher, in static and dynamic, which allowed us to assess joint ranges, muscle groups and functionality of the foot in both unloading and loading, as well as self-completed questionnaires on quality of life and functionality of the subjective foot, together with static and dynamic balance tests. The results obtained are used to propose a treatment plan appropriate to the patient's comorbidities. Results: After 15 days of treatment the patient shows a clear improvement in aspects such as static and dynamic balance, as well as in his perception of the functionality of his ankle, although the range of joint mobility of the right tibiofibularastragalus joint is still restricted. Conclusions: Bimalleolar fractures are increasing in incidence, and consequently their sequelae; chronic ankle instability is one of the most frequent, but there are no studies that deal with the subject or protocols for dealing with it from a conservative point of view.Traballo fin de grao (UDC.FEP). Forest ecosystem carbon (C) storage primarily includes vegetation layers C storage, litter C storage, and soil C storage. The precise assessment of forest ecosystem C storage is a major concern that has drawn widespread attention in global climate change worldwide. This study explored the C storage of different layers of the forest ecosystem and the nutrient enrichment capacity of the vegetation layer to the soil in the Castanopsis eyeri natural forest ecosystem (CEF) present in the northeastern Hunan province, central China. The direct field measurements were used for the estimations. Results illustrate that trunk biomass distribution was 48.42% and 62.32% in younger and over-mature trees, respectively. The combined biomass of the understory shrub, herb, and litter layers was 10.46 t·hm−2, accounting for only 2.72% of the total forest biomass. On average, C content increased with the tree age increment. The C content of tree, shrub, and herb layers was 45.68%, 43.08%, and 35.76%, respectively. Litter C content was higher in the undecomposed litter (44.07 %). Soil C content continually decreased as the soil depth increased, and almost half of soil C was stored in the upper soil layer. Total C stored in CEF was 329.70 t·hm−2 and it follows the order: tree layer > soil layer > litter layer > shrub layer > herb layer, with C storage distribution of 51.07%, 47.80%, 0.78%, 0.25%, and 0.10%, respectively. Macronutrient enrichment capacity from vegetation layers to soil was highest in the herb layer and lowest in the tree layer, whereas no consistent patterns were observed for trace elements. This study will help understand the production mechanism and ecological process of the C. eyeri natural forest ecosystem and provide the basics for future research on climate mitigation, nutrient cycling, and energy exchange in developing and utilizing sub-tropical vegetationThis research was financially supported by research funding from Central South University of Forestry and Technology and the Hunan province finance department (No.70702-45200003

Interacting Modified Variable Chaplygin Gas in Non-flat Universe

A unified model of dark energy and matter is presented using the modified variable Chaplygin gas for interacting dark energy in a non-flat universe. The two entities interact with each other non-gravitationally which involves a coupling constant. Due to dynamic interaction, the variation in this constant arises that henceforth changes the equations of state of these quantities. We have derived the effective equations of state corresponding to matter and dark energy in this interacting model. Moreover, the case of phantom energy is deduced by putting constraints on the parameters involved.Comment: 9 pages; Accepted for publication in European Physical Journal

Background: Alcohol withdrawal syndrome (AWS) is routinely treated with B-vitamins. However, the relationship between thiamine status and outcome is rarely examined. The aim of the present study was to examine the relationship between thiamine and magnesium status in patients with AWS. Methods: Patients (n = 127) presenting to the Emergency Department with AWS were recruited to a prospective observational study. Blood samples were drawn to measure whole blood thiamine diphosphate (TDP) and serum magnesium concentrations. Routine biochemistry and haematology assays were also conducted. The Glasgow Modified Alcohol Withdrawal Score (GMAWS) measured severity of AWS. Seizure history and current medications were also recorded. Results: The majority of patients (99%) had whole blood TDP concentration within/above the reference interval (275–675 ng/gHb) and had been prescribed thiamine (70%). In contrast, the majority of patients (60%) had low serum magnesium concentrations (< 0.75 mmol/L) and had not been prescribed magnesium (93%). The majority of patients (66%) had plasma lactate concentrations above 2.0 mmol/L. At 1 year, 13 patients with AWS had died giving a mortality rate of 11%. Male gender (p < 0.05), BMI < 20 kg/m2 (p < 0.01), GMAWS max ≥ 4 (p < 0.05), elevated plasma lactate (p < 0.01), low albumin (p < 0.05) and elevated serum CRP (p < 0.05) were associated with greater 1-year mortality. Also, low serum magnesium at time of recruitment to study and low serum magnesium at next admission were associated with higher 1-year mortality rates, (84% and 100% respectively; both p < 0.05). Conclusion: The prevalence of low circulating thiamine concentrations were rare and it was regularly prescribed in patients with AWS. In contrast, low serum magnesium concentrations were common and not prescribed. Low serum magnesium was associated more severe AWS and increased 1-year mortality

ESports as an industry is a rapidly growing digital sport, with a multitude of different disciplines. While it is a vastly growing industry, it has as of yet seen limited academic attention. In this study, the development of one specific eSport is examined, namely Counter- Strike: Global Offensive. Institutional theory, in addition to institutional work theory, was utilized as a theoretical lens to understand how and why the eSport is developing. A qualitative approach was used towards this study, with the conduction of 15 interviews and a multitude of observations varying between events, community discussions and video work performed by spokespersons. The empirical findings were thereafter presented in a subject related manner through 5 different categories: (1) coaching, (2) rule adaptations, (3) unionization, (4) events and (5) community. The analysis of the data was done through the theoretical framework and two distinct forms of institutional work were identified: (1) establishment work aiming to increase the professionalism and legitimacy of eSports and (2) shielding work aiming at safeguarding the eSport and its’ community. Next to the identification of institutional work, neo-institutional trends were noticed in the form of isomorphism and decoupling within the Counter-Strike eSport (Meyer & Rowan, 1977; DiMaggio & Powell, 1983). Through the new insights provided through this study, a contribution is attempted to increase the understanding of eSport development and shed light on the presence of institutional work in emergent sport discourse.MSc in Managemen
