The Design and Research of a New Low Cobalt-molybdenum Niobium-containing Ni-base Superalloy for 700 ̊C Advanced Ultra-supercritical Power Plants
AbstractA new Ni-base Nb-containing supealloy of low Co-Mo, Ni-24Cr-16(Co+Mo+W)-4.5(Nb+Ti+Al)-0.03C (wt. %), was designed for 700°C advanced ultra-super-critical power plant application, and the boiler superheater/reheater tubes were successfully manufactured. The alloy design was conducted by thermodynamics and dynamics calculation using Thermal-Calc and JmatPro commercial software. The microstructural stability of the new alloy was evaluated by FESEM and TEM. The mechanical properties, such as microhardness and impact toughness at room temperature, were also tested. The calculation results show that molybdenum promotes the formation of σ and μ phase obviously and cobalt promotes the formation of η, σ, and μ simultaneously. In addition, high molybdenum content will decrease the flue gas ash corrosion resistance and cobalt is a kind of strategic resource in the world. Therefore, the concept of “low Co-Mo Ni-base superalloy” was determined. The implementation of “Low Co-Mo” can reduce cost, restrain the formation of harmful phases as well as ensure good oxidation/corrosion resistance on the basis of high Cr content. To optimize the new alloy, both the combined solid solution strengthening of Cr-Co-Mo-W and the precipitation strengthening elements Nb, Ti and Al are adopted, because Nb is a good γ’-strengthening element in combination with Ti and Al for Ni-base superalloy. The experimental results of SEM and TEM show that no harmful phases precipitate after 1000 h-aging at 760°C and 800°C, and the γ′ coarsening rate is low, which reveals a good microstructure stability of this new alloy
Hysteretic behavior of angular dependence of exchange bias in FeNi/FeMn bilayers
For FeNi/FeMn bilayers, the angular dependence of exchange bias shows hysteresis between clockwise and counterclockwise rotations, as a new signature. The hysteresis decreases for thick antiferromagnet layers. Calculations have clearly shown that the orientation of antiferromagnet spins also exhibits hysteresis between clockwise and counterclockwise rotations. This furnishes an interpretation of the macroscopic behavior of the ferromagnetic layer in terms of the thermally driven evolution of the magnetic state of the antiferromagnet layer
Hysteresis measurement of anomalous microwave surface resistance in superconducting thin films
The anomalous decrease in microwave surface resistance, R_{s}, of
superconducting YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-d} (YBCO) thin films in the presence of a low
dc magnetic field is studied using a microstrip resonator technique. We have
done a dc field hysteresis measurement of R_{s} to study the effects of vortex
penetration on the anomalous effect. It is shown that the anomaly happens at a
field level far below the low critical field, H_{c1,strip}, of the
superconducting microstrip and vortex (Abrikosov) penetration would eliminate
the anomalous effect observed at low field. This implies that the anomalous
effect is not contributed by vortices.Comment: 2 pages, 1 figure, submitted to Physica C for M2S-HTSC-VI Proceeding
Ambient Isotopic Meshing of Implicit Algebraic Surface with Singularities
A complete method is proposed to compute a certified, or ambient isotopic,
meshing for an implicit algebraic surface with singularities. By certified, we
mean a meshing with correct topology and any given geometric precision. We
propose a symbolic-numeric method to compute a certified meshing for the
surface inside a box containing singularities and use a modified
Plantinga-Vegter marching cube method to compute a certified meshing for the
surface inside a box without singularities. Nontrivial examples are given to
show the effectiveness of the algorithm. To our knowledge, this is the first
method to compute a certified meshing for surfaces with singularities.Comment: 34 pages, 17 Postscript figure
Parameter estimation for VSI-Fed PMSM based on a dynamic PSO with learning strategies
© 1986-2012 IEEE.A dynamic particle swarm optimization with learning strategy (DPSO-LS) is proposed for key parameter estimation for permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs), where the voltage-source inverter (VSI) nonlinearities are taken into account in the parameter estimation model and can be estimated simultaneously with other machine parameters. In the DPSO-LS algorithm, a novel movement modification equation with variable exploration vector is designed to effectively update particles, enabling swarms to cover large areas of search space with large probability and thus the global search ability is enhanced. Moreover, a Gaussian-distribution-based dynamic opposition-based learning strategy is developed to help the pBest jump out local optima. The proposed DPSO-LS can significantly enhance the estimator model accuracy and dynamic performance. Finally, the proposed algorithm is applied to multiple parameter estimation including the VSI nonlinearities of a PMSM. The performance of DPSO-LS is compared with several existing PSO algorithms, and the comparison results show that the proposed parameters estimation method has better performance in tracking the variation of machine parameters effectively and estimating the VSI nonlinearities under different operation conditions
Bound magnetic polaron driven low-temperature ferromagnetism in Cu1−xMnxO compounds
AbstractPartial Mn atoms have been confirmed to enter the CuO lattice and form the Cu1−xMnxO compounds in the case of doping with 0≤x≤0.2 by the sol–gel method. With increasing Mn content, magnetism is observed. The magnetic critical transition temperature increases with enhanced magnetism, which obeys the bound magnetic polaron theory. The electronic transportation shows an insulating behavior as the band-gap decreases. Our results may indicate that CuO may be used as a candidate of magnetic semiconductor
Construction and Verification of the Constitutive Model of Pure Copper Deformation at Elevated Temperatures
The deformation behavior of pure copper was studied in hot compression tests in the temperature range of 773–1173 K and strain rate interval of 0.001–1.0 s⁻¹, the corresponding flow stress curves were plotted. The new method to calculate critical and saturation stresses was devised, quantitative analysis of strain hardening and dynamic softening was presented, a three-stage constitutive model was constructed to predict the flow stress of pure copper. As predicted and measured flow stress comparison indicate, the physical constitutive model can accurately characterize hot deformation of pure copper. With dynamic recovery and/or recrystallization. Numerical simulation of an upsetting process is carried out by implementing the constitutive model into commercial software. This model can be put to practical use and be quite promising for improving efficiency of a hot forging process for pure copper components.Изучено деформационное поведение чистой меди при испытании горячих проб на сжатие в диапазоне температур 773 1173 К и скорости деформации 0.001–1.0 с⁻¹, построены соответствующие кривые напряжения пластического течения. Spatial distribution of photoelectrons participating in formation of x-ray absorption spectra
Interpretation of x-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) experiments is
often done via analyzing the role of particular atoms in the formation of
specific peaks in the calculated spectrum. Typically, this is achieved by
calculating the spectrum for a series of trial structures where various atoms
are moved and/or removed. A more quantitative approach is presented here, based
on comparing the probabilities that a XANES photoelectron of a given energy can
be found near particular atoms. Such a photoelectron probability density can be
consistently defined as a sum over squares of wave functions which describe
participating photoelectron diffraction processes, weighted by their normalized
cross sections. A fine structure in the energy dependence of these
probabilities can be extracted and compared to XANES spectrum. As an
illustration of this novel technique, we analyze the photoelectron probability
density at the Ti K pre-edge of TiS2 and at the Ti K-edge of rutile TiO2.Comment: Journal abstract available on-line at

Electrical transport and magnetic properties of nanostructured La0.67Ca0.33MnO3
Nanostructured La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 (NS-LCMO) was formed by pulsed-laser
deposition on the surface of porous Al2O3. The resistance peak temperature (Tp)
of the NS-LCMO increases with increasing average thickness of the films, while
their Curie temperatures (Tc) remain unchanged. The coercive field of the
samples increases with decreasing film thickness and its temperature dependence
can be well described by Hc(T) = Hc(0)[1-(T/TB)1/2]. A large magnetoresistance
and strong memory effect were observed for the NS-LCMO. The results are
discussed in terms of the size effect, Coulomb blockade and magnetic tunneling
effect. This work also demonstrates a new way to get nanostructured manganites
