    DVIS: Decoupled Video Instance Segmentation Framework

    Video instance segmentation (VIS) is a critical task with diverse applications, including autonomous driving and video editing. Existing methods often underperform on complex and long videos in real world, primarily due to two factors. Firstly, offline methods are limited by the tightly-coupled modeling paradigm, which treats all frames equally and disregards the interdependencies between adjacent frames. Consequently, this leads to the introduction of excessive noise during long-term temporal alignment. Secondly, online methods suffer from inadequate utilization of temporal information. To tackle these challenges, we propose a decoupling strategy for VIS by dividing it into three independent sub-tasks: segmentation, tracking, and refinement. The efficacy of the decoupling strategy relies on two crucial elements: 1) attaining precise long-term alignment outcomes via frame-by-frame association during tracking, and 2) the effective utilization of temporal information predicated on the aforementioned accurate alignment outcomes during refinement. We introduce a novel referring tracker and temporal refiner to construct the \textbf{D}ecoupled \textbf{VIS} framework (\textbf{DVIS}). DVIS achieves new SOTA performance in both VIS and VPS, surpassing the current SOTA methods by 7.3 AP and 9.6 VPQ on the OVIS and VIPSeg datasets, which are the most challenging and realistic benchmarks. Moreover, thanks to the decoupling strategy, the referring tracker and temporal refiner are super light-weight (only 1.69\% of the segmenter FLOPs), allowing for efficient training and inference on a single GPU with 11G memory.     Anomalous thermal Hall effect and anomalous Nernst effect of CsV3_{3}Sb5_{5}

    Motived by time-reversal symmetry breaking and giant anomalous Hall effect in kagome superconductor \textit{A}V3_3Sb5_5 (\textit{A} = Cs, K, Rb), we carried out the thermal transport measurements on CsV3_3Sb5_5. In addition to the anomalous Hall effect, the anomalous Nernst effect and the anomalous thermal Hall effect emerge. Interestingly, the longitudinal thermal conductivity κxx\kappa_{xx} largely deviates from the electronic contribution obtained from the longitudinal conductivity σxx\sigma_{xx} by the Wiedemann-Franz law. In contrast, the thermal Hall conductivity κxy\kappa_{xy} is roughly consistent with the Wiedemann-Franz law from electronic contribution. All these results indicate the large phonon contribution in the longitudinal thermal conductivity. Moreover, the thermal Hall conductivity is also slightly greater than the theoretical electronic contribution, indicating other charge neutral contributions. More than that, the Nernst coefficient and Hall resistivity show the multi-band behavior with possible additional contribution from Berry curvature at the low fields

    Can we early diagnose metabolic syndrome using brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity in community population

    BACKGROUND: The prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) increased recently and there was still not a screening index to predict MetS. The aim of this study was to estimate whether brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV), a novel marker for systemic arterial stiffness, could predict MetS in Chinese community population. METHODS: A total of 2 191 participants were recruited and underwent medical examination including 1 455 men and 756 women from June 2011 to January 2012. MetS was diagnosed according to the criteria of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). Multiple Logistic regressions were conducted to explore the risk factors of MetS. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was performed to estimate the ideal diagnostic cutoff point of baPWV to predict MetS. RESULTS: The mean age was (45.35+/-8.27) years old. In multiple Logistic regression analysis, the gender, baPWV and smoking status were risk factors to MetS after adjusting age, gender, baPWV, walk time and sleeping time. The prevalence of MetS was 17.48% in 30-year age population in Shanghai. There were significant differences (chi(2) = 96.46, P \u3c 0.05) between male and female participants on MetS prevalence. According to the ROC analyses, the ideal cutoff point of baPWV was 1 358.50 cm/s (AUC = 60.20%) to predict MetS among male group and 1 350.00 cm/s (AUC = 70.90%) among female group. CONCLUSION: BaPWV may be considered as a screening marker to predict MetS in community Chinese population and the diagnostic value of 1 350.00 cm/s was more significant for the female group

    Clinical outcomes and risk factors of coronary artery aneurysms after successful percutaneous coronary intervention and drug-eluting stent implantation for chronic total occlusions

    AbstractObjectiveThe study aimed to analyze the risk factors and long-term outcomes associated with coronary artery aneurysms (CAAs) after successful percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation in patients with CTOs.BackgroundThere are sporadic data available on post-procedure CAAs after transcatheter revascularization for CTOs.Methods and resultsA total of 141 patients with 149 CTOs who underwent successful CTO-PCI and DES implantation with angiographic follow-up from 2004 to 2010 were included. Patients were divided into CAA group and non-CAA group according to the presence of CAAs in the follow-up angiography. The independent predictors and major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) including cardiac death, myocardial infarction (MI) and target-vessel revascularization (TVR) were compared between two groups. The incidence of CAAs was 11.4% (17/149) after index procedure. Multivariate analysis showed that age (OR: 0.925, CI 0.873–0.980, P = 0.008), ostial occlusion (OR: 6.715, CI 1.473–30.610, P = 0.014), the parallel wire technique (OR: 6.167, CI 1.709–22.259, P = 0.005) and DES length (OR: 1.030, CI 1.002–1.058, P = 0.036) were the independent predictors of CAAs after successful CTO-PCI and DES implantation. MACEs were similar between two groups (adjusted hazard ratio 0.670; 95% CI 0.160–2.808; P = 0.584) during the 5-year follow-up.ConclusionsThe independent predictors of CAAs after successful CTO-PCI and DES implantation are age, ostial occlusion, the parallel wire technique and DES length. CAAs after index procedure are not frequently associated with adverse clinical events under dual antiplatelet therapy. Further large clinical studies are warranted to explore the clinical implications of patients with this distinct new entity

    Dynamics of Oxygen-Independent Photocleavage of Blebbistatin as a One-Photon Blue or Two-Photon Near-Infrared Light-Gated Hydroxyl Radical Photocage

    Development of versatile, chemically tunable photocages for photoactivated chemotherapy (PACT) represents an excellent opportunity to address the technical drawbacks of conventional photodynamic therapy (PDT) whose oxygen-dependent nature renders it inadequate in certain therapy contexts such as hypoxic tumors. As an alternative to PDT, oxygen free mechanisms to generate cytotoxic reactive oxygen species (ROS) by visible light cleavable photocages are in demand. Here, we report the detailed mechanisms by which the small molecule blebbistatin acts as a one-photon blue light-gated or two-photon near-infrared light-gated photocage to directly release a hydroxyl radical (•OH) in the absence of oxygen. By using femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy and chemoselective ROS fluorescent probes, we analyze the dynamics and fate of blebbistatin during photolysis under blue light. Water-dependent photochemistry reveals a critical process of water-assisted protonation and excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) that drives the formation of short-lived intermediates, which surprisingly culminates in the release of •OH but not superoxide or singlet oxygen from blebbistatin. CASPT2//CASSCF calculations confirm that hydrogen bonding between water and blebbistatin underpins this process. We further determine that blue light enables blebbistatin to induce mitochondria-dependent apoptosis, an attribute conducive to PACT development. Our work demonstrates blebbistatin as a controllable photocage for •OH generation and provides insight into the potential development of novel PACT agents

    The Changing Landscape for Stroke\ua0Prevention in AF: Findings From the GLORIA-AF Registry Phase 2

    Background GLORIA-AF (Global Registry on Long-Term Oral Antithrombotic Treatment in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation) is a prospective, global registry program describing antithrombotic treatment patterns in patients with newly diagnosed nonvalvular atrial fibrillation at risk of stroke. Phase 2 began when dabigatran, the first non\u2013vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulant (NOAC), became available. Objectives This study sought to describe phase 2 baseline data and compare these with the pre-NOAC era collected during phase 1. Methods During phase 2, 15,641 consenting patients were enrolled (November 2011 to December 2014); 15,092 were eligible. This pre-specified cross-sectional analysis describes eligible patients\u2019 baseline characteristics. Atrial fibrillation disease characteristics, medical outcomes, and concomitant diseases and medications were collected. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results Of the total patients, 45.5% were female; median age was 71 (interquartile range: 64, 78) years. Patients were from Europe (47.1%), North America (22.5%), Asia (20.3%), Latin America (6.0%), and the Middle East/Africa (4.0%). Most had high stroke risk (CHA2DS2-VASc [Congestive heart failure, Hypertension, Age  6575 years, Diabetes mellitus, previous Stroke, Vascular disease, Age 65 to 74 years, Sex category] score  652; 86.1%); 13.9% had moderate risk (CHA2DS2-VASc = 1). Overall, 79.9% received oral anticoagulants, of whom 47.6% received NOAC and 32.3% vitamin K antagonists (VKA); 12.1% received antiplatelet agents; 7.8% received no antithrombotic treatment. For comparison, the proportion of phase 1 patients (of N = 1,063 all eligible) prescribed VKA was 32.8%, acetylsalicylic acid 41.7%, and no therapy 20.2%. In Europe in phase 2, treatment with NOAC was more common than VKA (52.3% and 37.8%, respectively); 6.0% of patients received antiplatelet treatment; and 3.8% received no antithrombotic treatment. In North America, 52.1%, 26.2%, and 14.0% of patients received NOAC, VKA, and antiplatelet drugs, respectively; 7.5% received no antithrombotic treatment. NOAC use was less common in Asia (27.7%), where 27.5% of patients received VKA, 25.0% antiplatelet drugs, and 19.8% no antithrombotic treatment. Conclusions The baseline data from GLORIA-AF phase 2 demonstrate that in newly diagnosed nonvalvular atrial fibrillation patients, NOAC have been highly adopted into practice, becoming more frequently prescribed than VKA in Europe and North America. Worldwide, however, a large proportion of patients remain undertreated, particularly in Asia and North America.
