    In the extra dimensional scenarios with gauge fields in the bulk, the Kaluza-Klein (KK) gauge bosons can induce Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) type attractive four-fermion interactions, which can break electroweak symmetry dynamically with accompanying composite Higgs fields. We consider a possibility that electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) is triggered by both a fundamental Higgs and a composite Higgs arising in a dynamical symmetry breaking mechanism induced by a new strong dynamics. The resulting Higgs sector is a partially composite two-Higgs doublet model with specific boundary conditions on the coupling and mass parameters originating at a compositeness scale Λ\Lambda.     In this paper, the backreaction to the traversable Lorentzian wormhole spacetime by the scalar field or electric charge is considered to find the exact solutions. The charges play the role of the additional matter to the static wormhole which is already constructed by the exotic matter.     Exactly Soluble Quantum Wormhole in Two Dimensions

    We are presenting a quantum traversable wormhole in an exactly soluble two-dimensional model. This is different from previous works since the exotic negative energy that supports the wormhole is generated from the quantization of classical energy-momentum tensors. This explicit illustration shows the quantum-mechanical energy can be used as a candidate for the exotic source. As for the traversability, after a particle travels through the wormhole, the static initial wormhole geometry gets a back reaction which spoils the wormhole structure.     Extended model of sport spectator goal-directed behavior: The role of event prestige in non-major sport events

    Although the importance of destinations' image has been explored in the extant literature, little is known about the influence of event prestige on spectators' intention to attend recurring sport events, especially in the case of nonmajor international events. Given the situation, the current study incorporated spectators' perception of event prestige on the basis of the Model of Goal-directed Behavior (MGB) as a research framework to investigate their behavioral intention to attend nonmajor sport events. An on-site survey was conducted for spectators (N = 371) who attended the 2016 William Jones Cup Tournament held in Taipei, Taiwan. The results revealed that attitude, subjective norm, positive anticipated emotion, negative anticipated emotion, and perceived behavioral control played significant roles in influencing spectators' desire to attend sport events. Moreover, event prestige and desire have significant influences on spectators' intention. Theoretical and practical implications of the study results were discussed

    International audienceIn August 2002, Typhoon RUSA hit Korea with severe gale and storm, causing extensive damage throughout the whole country and especially in the Gangneung area. Even on a single day, Typhoon RUSA recorded up to 879.5 mm of rainfall in the Gangneung area. Quantitative and qualitative analyses of the scale of Typhoon RUSA are performed in this study. Most of the inland affected by RUSA in the Korean Peninsula recorded heavy rainfall, equivalent to a return period of more than 200 years. Especially, rainfall of 24 h duration exceeded the maxima observed so far. Although areal rainfall showed a rapidly decreasing trend with increasing area, it reached 96 percent of the existing PMP within a 2000 km2 area and recorded the maximum observed value of Korea according to a DAD analysis of rainfall. Re-estimated PMP values obtained from a hydro-meteorological approach compared with existing PMP estimates revealed a discrepancy between the two values, which showed that re-estimated PMP values of 12 to 24 h duration within 2000 km2 exceeded the existing PMP estimates of Korea. Therefore, modification of the existing PMP is required, which is used as a design hydrological variable of hydraulic structure

    The experience of watching baseball games in Korea: an analysis of user-generated content on social media using Leximancer

    The current study explores international tourists’ experiences of watching professional baseball games in Korea. Total 152 reviews posted by tourists on TripAdvisor were analyzed through Leximancer, a computer program used in the qualitative content analysis. The software identified three dominant themes of tourist experiences: the distinctive atmosphere of Korean professional baseball games, the diverse services in the stadium, and fanatical cheering behavior for the team. Moreover, it revealed that international tourists were generally positive toward the culturally distinctive style of Korean professional baseball games. This study suggests that the professional sports of a travel destination can be a form of providing international tourists with pleasurable experiences and a way to learn about the distinctive Korean baseball culture

    Discovery From Non-Parties (Third-Party Discovery) in International Arbitration

    International arbitration rules and many arbitration laws usually provide procedures that permit tribunals to order parties to disclose documents and other materials to the other parties.1 More complex are the rules that determine opportunities to obtain discovery from persons that are not party to the arbitration (third-party discovery). This article will review third-party discovery under the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA) and the provisions of the US Code s.1782 that authorise US courts to act in aid of actions before foreign tribunals. Section 1782 has unique interest at this time because it figured prominently in the EU antitrust investigation of Intel that was initiated on request from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). Early in that investigation, AMD filed a s.1782 request in the US District Court to obtain evidence from US sources for submission to the DG-Competition of the European Commission (EC). This request ultimately led to the Supreme Court’s decision in Intel Corp v Advanced Micro Devices Inc2 which appeared to significantly expand the scope of s.1782. Ironically, after AMD won on key legal issues in the Supreme Court, the District Court on remand exercised its discretion and denied the request for judicial assistance. This paper first describes the FAA non-party discovery rules and the split among the federal appellate courts concerning the authority of arbitrators to order prehearing discovery from non-parties. Next, it provides an analysis of the meaning of the terms “interested party” and “tribunal”—terms that were controversially interpreted by the Supreme Court in Intel and are essential to the application of s.1782. Finally, it discusses the “discretionary” factors used by the federal courts in deciding whether to grant a s.1782 request even when the statutory criteria are met. The opportunity to exercise this discretion seems to rebut the argument that the Supreme Court’s interpretation of s.1782 gives participants before foreign tribunals more discovery rights in the United States than are available to the parties in arbitrations covered by the FAA
