Abstract. The publication presents an assessment of the impact of meteorological conditions on air quality in a given location. The subject matter of the work is related to problem-review issues in the field of environmental protection and energy management. The publication draws attention to the fact that despite several decades of ecological monitoring of air pollution, only in recent years attention has been paid to the scale of air pollution problem. The study examined the relationship between meteorological elements (wind velocity, relative humidity on the amount of air pollution immissions. Significant impact of precipitation, atmospheric pressure and thermal braking layer was indicated. The possibilities of air quality improvement were presented based on the measurement data concerning the immission of impurities

Analysis of the suitability of using the selected wind turbine blades for wind power appliances based on numerical analyses

The aim of this study was a comparative analysis of the suitability of the use of airfoil for wind power. Based on numerical analyses and analytical methods, information on the power factor was obtained. The analyses were carried out for the wind turbine blades and rotors of a vertical axis wind turbine. The tests were performed for the constructed profile and compared with the profile DU 06-W-200 used in the construction of a wind turbine rotors. A vertical axis wind turbine model equipped with designed blade profiles was prepared. The main predicted purpose of the device is to supply electricity to the household. The blade profile models were prepared and then a numerical analysis was performed using the CFD application. The obtained results for given wind speeds and types of profiles were compared with each other. The conducted research allowed to determine the sense of applying the unaudited profile based on the determined value of wind turbine power coefficient. Studies have shown that the accurate preparation of the optimal rotor blade with respect to flow of air stream strongly influences the characteristics of the wind turbine

The publication presents the results of aerodynamic characteristics of selected profile blades for applications in wind turbines. Considering the potential of energy resources and investors’ preferences, the amount of energy produced in wind farms in the total amount of electricity generated will be systematically growing and probably, in the next few years, wind energy will be the first in the field of electricity production from all types of power plants. Harnessing the power of moving air masses is now a global phenomenon. Rotor wheel converts wind energy into mechanical energy when using blades with chosen shape and oriented in the terms of the optimum performance. The aim of the measurements was to determine the impact of blade shape and blade angle of attack on the efficiency of conversion of wind energy into mechanical energy on the rotor wheel. The obtained power coefficients were presented as results

In vitro wound dressing stack model as a first step to evaluate the behavior of dressing materials in wound bed - an assessment of mass transport phenomena in hydrogel wound dressings

    No full text
Wound dressings when applied are in contact with wound exudates in vivo or with acceptor fluid when testing drug release from wound dressing in vitro. Therefore, the assessment of bidirectional mass transport phenomena in dressing after application on the substrate is important but has never been addressed in this context. For this reason, an in vitro wound dressing stack model was developed and implemented in the 3D printed holder. The stack was imaged using magnetic resonance imaging, i.e., relaxometric imaging was performed by means of T(2) relaxation time and signal amplitude 1D profiles across the wound stack. As a substrate, fetal bovine serum or propylene glycol were used to simulate in vivo or in vitro cases. Multi-exponential analysis of the spatially resolved magnetic resonance signal enabled to distinguish components originating from water and propylene glycol in various environments. The spatiotemporal evolution of these components was assessed. The components were related to mass transport (water, propylene glycol) in the dressing/substrate system and subsequent changes of physicochemical properties of the dressing and adjacent substrate. Sharp changes in spatial profiles were detected and identified as moving fronts. It can be concluded that: (1) An attempt to assess mass transport phenomena was carried out revealing the spatial structure of the wound dressing in terms of moving fronts and corresponding layers; (2) Moving fronts, layers and their temporal evolution originated from bidirectional mass transport between wound dressing and substrate. The setup can be further applied to dressings containing drugs
