    Exploring Local Labor Markets and Knowledge Spillover from a Spatial Perspective

    Relevance. Cities serve as vital hubs for socioeconomic activities, fostering convergence in local labor markets characterized by high productivity, premium wages, and knowledge spillover. Jakarta Metropolitan, as Indonesia's economic center, embodies these advantages, prompting the need for a spatial investigation of their regional association.Research Objective. This study examines the unique attributes of the labor market in the Jakarta Metropolitan Area. The analysis encompasses anomalies such as the impact of premium wages on local labor productivity and the influence of education levels, as a proxy for knowledge spillover, on urban labor productivity.Data and Methods. Utilizing microdata from Sakernas and macrodata from BPS for 2017-2019, this study offers a comprehensive analysis of the Jakarta Metropolitan Area. By synthesizing cross-level data, the intricate interplay between productivity, wages, and area size becomes evident, particularly the tendency for skilled individuals to gravitate toward larger urban centers. Employing spatial regression, the analysis takes into account local characteristics in regions.Results. Density and education have a positive correlation, while the number of holders of bachelor's degrees has a surprisingly negative impact on productivity. Notably, higher aggregate education levels enhance regional productivity throughout the Jakarta Metropolitan Area, except for highly educated individuals. The level of education influences the minimum wage in a region, driven by spatial disparities in the educational infrastructure and quality. The number of educated people also influences wages in and across regions, prompting migration to regions with higher salaries.Conclusions. By integrating microdata and macrodata and employing spatial regression techniques, this study shows the connection between education, productivity, and regional dynamics, particularly in the Jakarta Metropolitan Area. These findings challenge the assumption that possessing a high level of education guarantees higher productivity and remuneration, demonstrating the need for education reforms that align with labor market demands and bolster the economy

    Younger vs. older workers in ASEAN countries: substitutes or complements?

    The phenomenon of population ageing has led the countries of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) to face challenges in the sphere of employment since older workers are considered likely to prevent younger workers from entering the labor market. This paper seeks to describe the effect that an increase in the number of older workers has on the number of young workers. The study relies on the data provided by the International Labour Organization for the period between 2010 and 2016 and the OLS and 2SLS regression analysis methods. The results show that older workers do not impede the career progress of younger workers, in other work, that these two groups of workers are complements rather than substitutes for each other. Nevertheless, the phenomenon of population ageing should be an important concern for the governments of ASEAN countries because of the effect of this trend on the labour market. The fact that almost a half of the elderly population in ASEAN is still actively working indicates that the elderly suffer from the consequences of the economic downturn and still do not feel financially secure enough to retire. Thus, the role of the government in the current conditions is to create a suitable job market to accommodate elderly workers

    Changes in Land Use in Eastern Surabaya, Indonesia, and their Impact on Coastal Society and Aquaculture

    Indonesia is an archipelago country which has a large number of coastal areas, including Surabaya City. This part of the country, in particular its eastern areas, was affected by changes in land use – more land is now occupied by farms and residential areas. Another important type of land use in Surabaya is the ponds used for fish farming.This research aims to prove that the change of land use in Surabaya affects the socio-economy of the coastal area. This research uses the quantitative approach and descriptive statistic method. It shows that the increase in the number of ponds in Surabaya has not affected the growth in the number of fishermen while the amount and the value of fish production increased significantly due to marine fishing. Since most of the ponds in Surabaya are managed traditionally, they are unable to ensure a high output. Therefore, the majority of the community of Parmubaya in the east coast of Surabaya would like to change the function of ponds but are impeded to dos o by the legal regulations due to the special status of this area. Consequently, the optimal use of ponds in Surabaya would be to train fishermen, fish farmers, and representatives of other related professions

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Kompensasi dan Motivasi Kerja Terhadap Loyalitas Karyawan dan Implikasinya Terhadap Kinerja Karyawan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian Kausalitas. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner. Responden yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 115 karyawan yang bekerja di Minimarket Kabupaten Bekasi. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan analisis SEM (structural Equation Modeilling) yang diolah dengan SPSS dan AMOS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kompensasi dan Motivasi Kerja tidak berpengaruh terhadap Kinerja Karyawan. Kompensasi tidak berpengaruh terhadap Loyalitas Karyawan namun Motivasi berpengaruh terhadap Loyalitas Karyawan. Pada kompensasi terhadap loyalitas karyawan dan implikasinya terhadap kinerja karyawan tidak berpengaruh. Sedangkan pada hubungan mediasi antara Motivasi Kerja terhadap Loyalitas Karyawan dan Implikasinya terhadap Kinerja Karyawan Minimarket Kabupaten Bekasi berpengaruh

    UMKM merupakan salah satu pondasi terkuat ekonomi Indonesia. UMKM membantu ekonomi pemerintah dengan memberikan banyak lapangan pekerjaan. UMKM yang bergerak dalam produksi makanan adalah salah satu usaha yang berperan penting dalam pengurangan pengangguran di Indonesia serta banyak dilaksanakan oleh masyarakat umum, terutama makanan pokok yang memiliki protein tinggi seperti tahu. Namun belum banyak pabrik tahu yang menerapkan K3 dalam pengolahan produknya, sehingga penyuluhan K3 ini dapat memberikan pengetahuan yang baru serta memotivasi pengrajin tahu untuk dapat memproduksi tahu dengan higienis serta memperhatikan kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja para pembuatnya. Dengan mengimplementasikan K3 diharapkan kualitas dan produktivitas dalam pembuatan tahu semakin meningkat serta memiliki cita rasa yang khas dan higienis. Penyuluhan ini diberikan kepada pabrik tahu Bandung TASBIM yang berlokasi di Jl. Tabanas Raya IV Kedaung-Pamulang.UMKM merupakan salah satu pondasi terkuat ekonomi Indonesia. UMKM membantu ekonomi pemerintah dengan memberikan banyak lapangan pekerjaan. UMKM yang bergerak dalam produksi makanan adalah salah satu usaha yang berperan penting dalam pengurangan pengangguran di Indonesia serta banyak dilaksanakan oleh masyarakat umum, terutama makanan pokok yang memiliki protein tinggi seperti tahu.     Companies with assessment criteria often consider only the leader's subjectivity and ignore other criteria. Limited appraisal criteria result in shortcomings in the decision-making process. This study examines the performance appraisal in a plastic manufacturing company's production floor and develops a multi-criteria decision-making model for performance appraisal by considering company criteria. We propose a qualitative approach using the analytic network process to determine the weighted criteria and sub-criteria to evaluate performance by involving all criteria. The results show that qualitative performance criteria yield higher scores for workers than the quantitative performance criteria, thereby confirming that subjectivity and qualitative criteria influence performance appraisal in the manufacturing industry. A multi-criteria decision-making model is required in performance appraisals to determine the overall measurable criteria. Moreover, this study contributes to an empirical solution for achieving an effective human resource management system

    NEUROMYELITIS OPTICA SPECTRUM DISORDER (NMOSD) DENGAN ANTIBODI AQP4 POSITIF

    Background: Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is an in?ammatory demyelinating autoimmune disease of the central nervous system that most commonly affects the optic nerves and spinal cord. Seropositive antiAQP4 differentiates NMO from MS and the presence of manifestation in the postrema, brainsteam or diencephalic areas extend to NMO Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD). Case Description: A 18 years old male complain sudden vision loss on his left eye since 2 weeks ago. The examination show the visual acuity on the right eye was 6/6 and LPBP on the left eye. Positive RAPD on the left eye, funduscopy and the OCT RNFL within normal limits. Head MRI focus orbita with contrast show optic neuritis. Patient was diagnosed with left eye retrobulbar optic neuritis and ONTT therapy was given. The visual acuity improved to 1/60 then therapy change to oral steroid. Four months later, the patient suddenly got vision loss on the right eye accompanied by paraparesis. The visual acuity on the right eye was NLP and the left eye was 1/300, with mid-dilated papil. The results of the OCT RNFL show on the right eye edema papil and left eye atrophy papil. An MRI of the head focus orbital and whole spain was reexamined followed by VEP examination and an AntiAQP4 which showed an NMOSD. He was given ONTT then continued with immunosuppressants. The visual acuity of the right eye improved to 3/60 and the left eye remained 1/300. Discussion: This patient first presented with complain on the left eye with clinical and supporting symptoms suggesting an optic neuritis. The presence of a new attack on the right eye with paraparesis is a clinical feature of NMO supported by MRI results and seropositive AQP4 indicates an NMOSD. Conclusion: Establishment of diagnosis and administration of therapy quickly and precisely can reduce the severity and risk of recurrence which leads to greater disability and blindness.     Trading foreign exchange (forex) dapat dilakukan di mana saja dan kapan pun dengan adanya dukungan teknologi yang tinggi. Tapi semua hal tersebut dipengaruhi dengan uncertainty dan rational expectation yang dihadapi seorang trader serta didukung adanya behaviour finance. Sehingga dibutuhkan penerapan strategi trading yang sesuai dengan kondisi trading yang dihadapi. Hal ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara strategi trading dan return yang diperoleh. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif dengan model One-Way ANOVA yang didukung analisis SWOT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada trading forex online seorang trader yang memiliki strategi trading yang berbeda dapat menimbulkan return yang berbeda pula. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi dapat menentukan return yang diharapkan oleh seorang trader berdasarkan rational expectation trader tersebut

    Teori Lewis tentang two sector model menjelaskan perpindahan tenaga kerja dari sektor subsisten atau pertanian ke sektor industri dengan asumsi adanya tarikan upah. Teori tersebut tidak mempertimbangkan bahwa upah menjadi masalah di sektor industri yang menyebabkan kelebihan tenaga kerja di sektor industri dan diasumsikan tertampung ke sektor informal. Dari hal tersebut terdapat tujuan penelitian yaitu mengetahui penyerapan tenaga kerja sektor industri dengan variabel pertumbuhan PDRB sektor pertanian dan industri, tingkat upah minimum regional, total angkatan kerja dan penyerapan tenaga kerja pertanian. Kedua, penyerapan tenaga kerja sektor UMKM dengan variabel pertumbuhan PDRB sektor pertanian dan industri, total angkatan kerja, jumlah tenaga kerja pertanian dan jumlah tenaga kerja industri. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif dengan regresi panel. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada transformasi tenaga kerja pertanian ke industri di Jawa Timur, terutama kaitan antara pertumbuhan sektor pertanian dan tingkat upah terhadap penyerapan tenaga kerja di sektor industri tidak terbukti. Bagian teori Lewis yang diterima dari hasil analisis yaitu pertumbuhan sektor industri dan jumlah tenaga kerja terhadap penyerapan tenaga kerja sektor industri. Tidak adanya keterkaitan antara output di sektor pertanian dan industri terhadap sektor UMKM. Sektor UMKM hanyalah menjadi pilihan terakhir, setelah semua tenaga kerja tertolak dari berbagai sektor formal
