    Analytical solution for dynamic response of curved rail subjected to moving train

    The objective of this paper is to present an analytical solution for the dynamic response of curved rail. The detailed solution was derived for the out-of-plane vibration response of periodically supported curved Timoshenko beam subjected to moving loads. The accuracy of the solution was validated based on the results from previous study. Furthermore, the train/track interaction model was introduced into this solution to calculate the rail dynamic response in Beijing metro. The results presented herein indicated that the solution provided accurate results in comparison with both the result from previous study and the measurement data collected from Beijing metro and it can be used to derive the dynamic response for similar situations

    Petroleum geological features and hydrocarbon enrichment of Linhe Depression in Hetao Basin, NW China

    Based on paleogeomorphology, drilling and seismic data, this paper systematically studies the structural and sedimentary evolution, source rock characteristics, reservoir characteristics and formation mechanism, hydrocarbon accumulation model and enrichment law in the Linhe Depression of the Hetao Basin, NW China. The Hetao Basin mainly experienced three stages of evolution, namely, weak extensional fault depression, strong extensional fault depression and strike-slip transformation, giving rise to four positive structural belts (Jilantai, Shabu, Nalinhu and Xinglong), which are favorable areas for oil and gas accumulation. The two main saline lacustrine source rocks, Lower Cretaceous Guyang Formation and Oligocene Linhe Formation, are characterized by high sulfur content, rich algae, early maturity, early expulsion, and wide oil generation window. The large structural transition belt in the intermountain area around the Hetao Basin controls the formation of large-scale braided river delta deposits, which are characterized by high quartz content (50%–76%), long-term shallow burial and weak compaction, low cement content, and good reservoir properties in delta front sandbody. The burial depth of the effective Paleogene reservoirs is predicted to reach 8000 m. Three hydrocarbon accumulation models, nose-uplift near sag, buried hill surrounding sag, fault nose near source rock, are constructed. The law of hydrocarbon accumulation in the Linhe Depression is finally clarified as follows: near-source around the depression is the foundation, high-quality thick reservoir is the premise, good tectonic setting and trap conditions are the key

    Expanding DdCBE-mediated targeting scope to aC motif preference in rat

    An animal model harboring pathogenic mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) mutations is important to understand the biological links between mtDNA variation and mitochondrial diseases. DdCBE, a DddA-derived cytosine base editor, has been utilized in zebrafish, mice, and rats for tC sequence-context targeting and human mitochondrial disease modeling. However, human pathogenic mtDNA mutations other than the tC context cannot be manipulated. Here, we screened the combination of different DdCBE pairs at pathogenic mtDNA mutation sites with nC (n for a, g, or c) context and identified that the left-G1333C (L1333C) + right G1333N (R1333N) pair could mediate C⋅G-to-T⋅A conversion effectively at aC sites in rat C6 cells. The editing efficiency at disease-associated mtDNA mutation sites within aC context was further confirmed to be up to 67.89% in vivo. Also, the installed disease-associated mtDNA mutations were germline transmittable. Moreover, the edited rats showed impaired cardiac function and mitochondrial function, resembling human mitochondrial disease symptoms. In summary, for the first time, we expanded the DdCBE targeting scope to an aC motif and installed the pathogenic mutation in rats to model human mitochondrial diseases

    NTIRE 2019 Image Dehazing Challenge Report

    This paper reviews the second NTIRE challenge on image dehazing (restoration of rich details in hazy image) with focus on proposed solutions and results. The training data consists from 55 hazy images (with dense haze generated in an indoor or outdoor environment) and their corresponding ground truth (haze-free) images of the same scene. The dense haze has been produced using a professional haze/fog generator that imitates the real conditions of haze scenes. The evaluation consists from the comparison of the dehazed images with the ground truth images. The dehazing process was learnable through provided pairs of haze-free and hazy train images. There were 270 registered participants and 23 teams competed in the final testing phase. They gauge the state-of-the-art in image dehazing
