Packaging material's demand continue to increase along with the development of industry all over the world. Styrofoam as conventional packaging materials, have been looked for a subtitute because it does not decompose and the depletion of fossil fuels as it's feedstock. Cornstalk has abundant amount as biomass waste. Despite it's well known quality as raw material for pulp, it hasn't got utilized yet. Molded pulp as one of the alternative packaging, has a promising future with it's degradable characteristics and good mechanical properties. Cornstalk as raw material for the pulp along with the empty fruit bunch (EFB) ash works as the alkaline source for the alkaline pulping. The binderless molded pulp then formed with the help of hot press. The thermoset properties of the lignin itself, give the posibility to produce molded pulp without any binder resin. Tensile index, tear index and burst index were determined experimentally to express the mechanical properties of the binderless molded pulp products. This experiment were done as an effort to utilize the biorenewable resource to make a packaging product that could be an alternative to the conventional one.The result indicate that cornstalk as raw material to produce molded pulp gives good mechanical properties compare to styrofoam packaging product. Molded pulp from cornstalk gives tensile index 17,5 – 34 Nm/g, tear index 10 – 26 mN.m2/g and burst index 0,89 – 1,52 kPa.m2/g. In generally, variation of temperature give dominant significant influence to mechanical properties of molded pulp

Investigation of Power Factor on Harmonic Effect due to Types of Voltage Source

    Get PDF
This paper discussed about power factor on harmonic effect due to types of voltage source. Usually, the voltage source is sinusoidal. But in actual condition the load that has voltage sources through the elements where the output voltage of element as input to load is not pure sinusoidal, for example at Power of Common Coupling (PCC) between transformer and linear load and nonlinear load. The research has been done with Schhafner Power Quality Analyzer and was focused to power factor (p.f.), Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), and harmonic energy losses cost from measurement where load is Induction motor and Adjustable Speed Drive (ASD). As voltage source in this research are sine wave, square wave and combinations of 3rd, 5th and 7th harmonic order like harmonic 313, and harmonic 357

Stratifying patients at the risk of heart failure hospitalization using existing device diagnostic thresholds

AbstractBackgroundHeart failure hospitalizations (HFHs) cost the US health care system ∼$20 billion annually. Identifying patients at risk of HFH to enable timely intervention and prevent expensive hospitalization remains a challenge. Implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronization devices with defibrillation capability (CRT-Ds) collect a host of diagnostic parameters that change with HF status and collectively have the potential to signal an increasing risk of HFH. These device-collected diagnostic parameters include activity, day and night heart rate, atrial tachycardia/atrial fibrillation (AT/AF) burden, mean rate during AT/AF, percent CRT pacing, number of shocks, and intrathoracic impedance. There are thresholds for these parameters that when crossed trigger a notification, referred to as device observation, which gets noted on the device report. We investigated if these existing device observations can stratify patients at varying risk of HFH.MethodsWe analyzed data from 775 patients (age: 69 ± 11 year, 68% male) with CRT-D devices followed for 13 ± 5 months with adjudicated HFHs. HFH rate was computed for increasing number of device observations. Data were analyzed by both excluding and including intrathoracic impedance. HFH risk was assessed at the time of a device interrogation session, and all the data between previous and current follow-up sessions were used to determine the HFH risk for the next 30 days.Results2276 follow-up sessions in 775 patients were evaluated with 42 HFHs in 37 patients. Percentage of evaluations that were followed by an HFH within the next 30 days increased with increasing number of device observations. Patients with 3 or more device observations were at 42× HFH risk compared to patients with no device observation. Even after excluding intrathoracic impedance, the remaining device parameters effectively stratified patients at HFH risk.ConclusionAvailable device observations could provide an effective method to stratify patients at varying risk of heart failure hospitalization

The hard magnetic Barium Hexaferrite was made from BaCO3 and Fe2O3 powders at various compostions of BaCO3 and Fe2O3 with stoichiometric ratio of 1:6 and non-stoichiometric ratio of 1:6.5. The preparation was done by wet mixing and grinding using PBM. The powder was calcined at 1000oC for 2 hours and subsequently being analyzed using XRD to observe the structure of BaO.6Fe2O3. The powder was then sieved to pass 400 mesh (3
